Weekend report

Mom bought us a new Love scratcher to replace the previous Christmas castle. We seem to prefer the two tiered ones so this is ours.

Mom bought a smaller one that will go in the foster room.

Aoili is feeling much better but not always nice to the littler kittens so the goal is to try to get her spayed asap.

The littler kittens are doing well though Chutney and Tapenade seem to be the slowest growing kittens ever!!

Gordon continues to run around the house and act like a teenager.

Mom bought a thing

Once again Target has new seasonal scratchers. She was going to resist but gave us and bought us a new RV.

Someone decided she needed to help with the construction.

Like most of the recent scratchers, it was fairly easy to put together (might have gone faster if mom had read the directions, but why do that....)

Once everyone checked it out, Goldfish claimed it and took a nap. It is parked next to the camper....in case everyone decides to camp out this holiday season.

weekend report

A fairly quiet weekend here (except for 2 hours of mom yelling at the TV during basketball). Mom ran some errands Saturday morning and then did some chores around the house. There was an adoption event on Sunday. Chanel went along for company. She was fascinated by the other animals and met a couple of dogs. One was a very well behaved boxer that managed to get behind her and sniff her ear. She jumped back and hissed but was otherwise not too shaken.

A couple of weeks ago mom bought a new ess scratcher. Chanel has never seen one of these before and was fairly interested. She is strange about new things in the house....mom wonders if she was a guard dog in a past life. If something new shows up, Chanel will stare at it, sneak up on it, sniff it, walk away and ignore it. And then after a couple of days of it being in the house, she will check it out again and play with it.

As you can see, it has met with her approval. She likes the toy on the one side but also lounges on it. Mom suspects the toy may not survive very long between Daiquiri and Chanel.

A quick update on Ivy. Her ear got crusty again a couple weeks ago and mom was having to catch her and medicate her (oh joy). However, this round seemed to work and she hasn't had any issues since. Hopefully the meds worked better this time and it won't happen again.

those whiskers are fabulous

in and out and around

This scratcher is a big hit in the foster room. So far all the kittens can still fit in the holes and that leads to all sorts of fun and games.
Versace half in the scratcher from the front
Gucci going in from the side

Armani sneaks up from the other side

suddenly - Chanel appears
no wonder the boys were so interested

Versace and Armani wage an epic battle for the scratcher

After everyone finally leaves,
Chanel sneaks off hoping to avoid future battles

They really do have a blast playing with that thing. We suspect they will be seriously heartbroken when they won't fit in the holes any longer.

Mom forgot to get weights this week, but everyone continues to do well - eating and playing hard. Amazing to think they are 6 weeks old now.

playtime

Mom says there is nothing much more fun or a better way to de-stress than for her to go into the foster room and play with the kittens. They sure do know the meaning of fun....and everything is a toy.

Russell - king of the trackball

If you look close, you can see they both have a paw in the game.

Pictures taken when Wheat was still here. She ended up in another foster
home and mom heard over the weekend that she has made it to 2 pounds.
Hopefully her toes will clear up and she can head to her forever home soon.

That incline scratcher is a big hit. Not sure how much longer Saldano is going to be able to fit in the hole however. One of the brandy girls climbs up to the top, digs in her claws and then hangs on the incline.

new toy

Someone had given us a short scratcher a while ago and it never got put out. Really - too short for the adults here. Mom finally remembered it and put it in the foster room.
The brandy girls were the first to check it out. If you look closer at them, you will notice silver undertones to their black coats. Calvados is the short hair of the group and he has much larger silver markings. Mom is trying to get decent pictures, but they aren't cooperating. It will be interesting to see what happens as they get older.

Let the games begin - one girl on top defending her spot from the "Russell monster"

And....we have a winner. MOL

Mom put it in front of the doors and the kittens seem to be enjoying a different view of the balcony outside. Not sure how much scratching they are doing (and there are a couple of cardboard scratchers in the room as well), but they are having fun climbing it.

Random Fridays

Mom says thank for the comments yesterday. While she knows there isn't anything that can prevent stuff like that sometimes, it still hurts to have it happen. Again, this community is so wonderfully supportive. Thanks!

We hope you have a safe and wonderful weekend. It is supposed to be pretty nice here.

Do you see what the Brat keeps doing to our scratcher???  She bites the corners and tears them off. Mom sighs and says she is just glad Daiquiri doesn't eat what she tears off.

In other news.....
This guy (Reno) was adopted last night. They do have a 2 year old dog at home so mom went over with them how to do slow introductions since Reno can be a bit of a scaredy kitten.

Oh - and another false alarm on the adoption front: Almond wasn't adopted over Thanksgiving. We don't know where mom is getting her information, but geez....  :)

Wordless Wednesday......

~~~~~~~~~~
The auction is doing great - but some things don't even have a bid yet. Go check it out....and just think - shopping without the crowds. :)
