Kitten update

Everyone is doing well. Mom is very sweet. Kittens are gaining weight and everyone has their eyes open. They are toddling around the pen....slowly. Two weeks old today.

I'm pretty sure about genders. Mostly. Maybe.

Happy 4th Birthday Chanel

Do you recognize those baby butts?

Hard to believe 4 years ago these kitten entered the world. They didn't get to our house until a few days later, but they grew up here.

We have never gotten updates on the boys, but Dior is now Cupcake and lives with our friend Julie.

Happy Birthday design kittens.

If you want a good laugh, mom just realized last night that this was the group she got for her birthday after doing a favor for the tescue6.

Welcome

Kitten season has arrived. We got our first 2021 batch on Wednesday. A lady who lives in a rural area has had cats dropped off on her property and needed some help. The kittens were born March 17th.

Meet Morrigan
She is SUPER sweet and is very good with the kittens
No idea exactly how old she is but we are guessing around a year

Due to when they were born, mom decided to go with a celtic theme. There are 5 kittens, 3 black, 2 brown tabbys. Both tabbys are boys, one of the black kittens is a boy (and has a tail light) and the other 2 black kittens are girls. Clearly collars will be involved when they get bigger.

Names: Boys - Herne, Alator and Taliesin, Girls - Danu and Brigid

overachiever - eyeballs already

Wednesday night they all weighed right around 7 ounces so they are chunky and doing well. At this point it is all about getting them used to being handled, loving on mom and monitoring weights.

Don't forget the web cam is live. Mom set up a "cave" for Morrigan so you can't see them really well right now but they will be more visible as we go along.

Ivy and her bear

Cupcake's mom Julie gave us this bear for the fosters. Well it never made it into the foster room and has been adopted by Ivy as one of her favorite places to nap. It is on the floor and moves around - mostly so it is more in the sun.

For those who may be new, Ivy is ok with the other girls here, but she has NO use for Junior. She already lived here when he joined us and he had very few cat skills and tended to stalk Ivy. It got to the point where she wouldn't run, but she would get mad and make a lot of noise. It was easier for mom to tell him no rather than let him get too close.

Mom looked over the other day while she was working and saw this:

Well that could be a sign of the apocalypse, but more likely Ivy has gotten old enough to stop getting overly worked up about how close he is getting. She was comfortable and napping and she had no intention of moving just to suit him. Luckily he didn't get any closer than that to her.

Quick former foster

3 years ago we had the Greek kittens here.

Sparta was adopted by a local family that stays in touch with us. He is now Elliott and loves his girl and has discovered tv. And he got a party for his birthday.

*thanks for the updates and the pictures Sarah

Not so bad

It hasn't been too bad with the kittens out all the time. Mom is working on prepping the kitten room for spring.

They are playful and curoius. So far only one disaster involving the desk and mom's iced coffee. Everything survived but we are working on "no" and "get off the desk".

Really???

Yeah....that happened.

After rescuing her twice, being stabbed by her nails (and them give her a pawdicure), mom gave up and let them both out.

Sometimes it's not worth the hassle.

They are looking much better so the goal is get them fixed next week. There is a reason we don't normally have kittens this age.

Life with cats

 Or just Chanel....whichever

This post has been here a while. Mom tried to rewrap it but it didn't work. In an effort to reorganize a little, this is getting recycled. Only, of course once it was in a new spot, some cat had to check it out.

Though in typical Chanel style, she lost interest fairly quickly.

Same as before

They are getting bigger, friendly, sweet and purry. About 4 pounds. Both have families waiting once they are fungus free and fixed.
