Weekend report

 Morrigan was spayed on Friday and is back at the rescue. She was making it pretty clear she was done being a momma. So when a surgery spot opened up, she was put on the list. Cross your paws she gets adopted quickly.

Her kittens are doing well. They don't seem to notice that Morrigan is gone and in fact the tabby boys are getting even more friendly. Mom had planned to leave the door open with the air lock up but they are big enough to big over so they will be in the room.

Gordon continues to do well. Daiquiri stood up next to his cage the other day and growled at him. Mom had given him a spring toy and Daiq is sure all the springs belong to her. The tiny boy came over and just slapped at her - totalky unafraid.

Mom also work a little more on the balcony. She needs another small bag of potting soil and a couple new chairs and it's ready to go. Now we just have to hope she doesn't kill all the flowers.

Uh oh....

 Mom went in to feed the kittens the other day and one of the girls slipped by the door and into the airlock (which is why it is there). Upon seeing Ivy and Daiquiri, she did this:

It also makes mom laugh to watch us around the house. Normally we don't snuggle too much with each other. But the top of the bed next to mom's pillow is a prime spot. It is normally taken by the oldest cat in the house: Butterscotch, then Maestro, then Tim  then Mozart and now Ivy.

However every once in a while Daiq decides to join her and mom will wake up to this:

Weekend report

 It was cold and snowy here though not much of the white stuff stuck to the ground. Mom mostly stayed home after running a couple of errands. We mostly slept.

Goldfish on the floor heat vent

Chanel on the cat ladder

Ivy judging

Daiquiri looking for snacks

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It's Huzzah
She is now Zhima which means black seasame. Her mom says she is doing great.
And some sad news....
Kale aka Ashoka passed away suddenly
Her mom is a friend and called to tell us
Gotcha Days
 Ivy joined us in 2008.
Daiquiri joined us in 2014.
Our lives wouldn't be the same without them.
We got mail
 Apparently the Tooth Fairy heard that Daiquiri and Ivy lost some teeth and sent them a present.
How cute are those??? Thanks Miss Tooth Fairy (you know who you are....LOL)
The girls are doing well. Ivy came home with a little bit of a cold but nothing serious. Daiq is enjoying the canned food.
Kittens are doing well. There was a bang yesterday afternoon and turns out it was Huzzah banging on the glass doors trying to get to a squirrel on our balcony.
Random Fridays
 Be sure to check out All Pet Voices tomorrow for a post by the mom promoting #MyUnspokenPet and Cuddly (she did get paid for the post, but it didn't not influence her story).
Daiquiri and Ivy are feeling better. Eating normally already. Considering how many teeth try both lost, this is probably an improvement over pre surgery.
The kittens are all doing well. Using the litter box and eating dry and canned food. Mom split the foster room to keep them out of the big boxes but will likely take the barrier down this weekend. It fun listening to them get more mobile (though not more graceful) and find toys.
Dentals
 Both Ivy and Daiquiri needed dentals. With the pandemic it was postponed a couple of times but they both went yesterday.
Mom dropped them off at 7am and they got home about 6:30pm. They were both very drunk. Chanel was not pleased.
Both lost some teeth: Ivy 7, Daquiri 8. And Daiquiri's cleaning was more extensive. Hopefully we are good for a while and they will be feeling better in no time.
(The x is pulled teeth, the o were already missing)
Weekend report
 It's finally fall here. Open windows and no more of the hots. Yay!!
Mom rearranged the foster room a little. Half is blocked off to keep the kittens out of the big litter boxes. Those have clumping litter and kittens like to try to eat everything which is a bad combination. They have their own box which Hurray used in the first hour. Genius!! Poor Huzzah is chirping up a storm trying to keep the kittens in one location.
Kittens:
Hurray - short hair black female
Yippee - short hair gray male
Yahoo - fuzzy gray female
Daiquiri and Ivy both go tomorrow for dental cleanings. Based on what we've been told at their last wellness check up, they are both probably going to lose some teeth. But Daiq has been super grumpy lately so hopefully this will help her feel better.
vet adventures
Ivy and Daiquiri both need dentals. They were scheduled for March but well....that didn't happen. They were then scheduled again for June but that ended up getting cancelled as well. Mom found a local clinic and they are now scheduled in September. (cross your paws)
The clinic asked for their vaccine records so mom called our regular vet (she doesn't do surgeries and there has been scheduling issues which is why mom is using the clinic). Well, it turns out Daquiri's rabies was due in April.
So Saturday the princess was packed up and off to the vet. They have safety protocols in place so they called and then came out to get her. Got her shot but Dr F said her mouth looks worse so she is on antibiotics before surgery.
She sang ALL the way there and ALL the way home.
Her teeth may be bad but her lungs are fine.
Random Fridays
**we have small prizes for "LMoore" and "meowmeowmans" for the Remember Me Thursday giveaway from last week. drop us an email at randomfelines at hotmail dot com and we will send those out!!
look lady
we know how to get over this thing
why you keep making us work so hard?
pounce in 3...2...1...
stranger danger
(yes, Beetle growled at Daiquiri - which was ok
since Daiq growled at her first)
jail break
The kitten came through surgery fine. The nice part about this age is they are hung over for the night and then race around like nothing ever happened. They are up on the rescue's website and are ready to go as soon as we have any takers. Mom has an event on Sunday that she can take them too, but they may go up to the adoption center before that as we have been having some good adoptions and they get adopted WAY faster if people can see them in person.
Thankfully Mother Nature has seen the light and decided to institute fall finally in our area. It was HOT the last few days. But....open windows for a while around here!!
Random Fridays
**we have a couple of small giveaway prizes regarding yesterday's Remember Me Thursday post. If you would like to be entered...leave a comment and we will draw names
~~~~~~~~~~

Well, it is about that time....the kittens go on Monday to be spayed or neutered. They are certainly ready to have more space to run around and families of their own. Mom tried to get them to cooperate for "school pictures" to have for their profiles. You can see how well that turned out.

Cricket
places to go, things to do

Hopper
can you get ANY closer

Beetle
at least someone cooperated

All three of these kittens are super sweet and outgoing. They LOVE to play with any toy they can find - or just things they find that aren't really toys. They are 3 months old and have met the adult cats here with no issues (from them - Daiquiri of course had issues - LOL).

what??
so I don't like kittens....sue me

Random Fridays

In case you missed it on social media, yesterday we celebrated Daiquiri's 5th Birthday.

Mom is in the process of replacing all the "litter" boxes with new ones (we don't use regular boxes - she cuts the sides down on large storage containers). Two more to go and Daiquiri is currently using them as a fort.

That is one relaxed Goldfish.

Mom will be out and about most of the weekend. Fortunately Monday is a holiday plus she decided to take Tuesday off as a "mental health" day.

Saturday she will be local with one of the rescue partner stores to celebrate 4 years together and (hopefully) 100 adoptions:
If you are around central Ohio, stop by the Graceland Pet Valu. And if you know someone in the area looking to adopt, send them our way.

Sunday is another adoption event, but the rescue isn't expecting big things from that one.

We know it won't last, but it has been nice here for a few days and mom has had the windows open. It gets a little warm in the condo by late afternoon but nothing terrible.

Have a great weekend!!

weekend update

incoming!!!

The weather got REALLY nice here starting on Friday, so mom opened our windows. Since she was home most of the weekend, she opened the screen door in the foster room and propped open the foster room door while using baby jail as an air lock to keep the kittens inside. Fortunately the kittens haven't figured out how to climb the gate yet, so there were no escapes. It was nice to have some fresh air and a cool breeze through the house. Supposedly it will be nice most of the week so we will have open windows for a few more days. Of course, it is August in the mid-west, so we know it won't last forever.

Of course, if the foster room door is open, some cat will have to go check it out. Daiquiri was in there a couple of times. The first time the kittens put on their stranger danger suits - we think more that they weren't expecting her to drop out of no where. After that, she went in a couple more times but as always there wasn't anything very interesting so she came right back out. Of course, this one time Ivy saw Daiquiri in there but can't defy gravity enough to follow....  MOL

Random Fridays

Thanks for all the comments about Mopar. It is part of fostering, but it never gets easier (and if it does then we should probably find something else to do with our time).
~~~~~~~~~~~
mom walked into the bedroom last weekend and saw this
pretty sure she doesn't even WANT to know what those two were plotting
~~~~~~~~~~~~

Lane adores that fish shaped kicker
which is good since her newest habit is to chew on mom

the face of the very smug (Fate)

Fate and Lane are recovering really well from surgery. Like most kittens, they came home, rushed out of the carrier, demanded a meal and ran around like they were on fire. Weirdos.

Luckily there is a spot at the partner store where mom helps clean so they are going to head up there tomorrow morning. There hasn't been a ton of luck with kittens out of this store, but mom would love to see it happen.

The bug kittens continue to do well. Mom put the happy duck from Miss Dee back in the foster room and they can be found curled up on him napping (btw - Fate tried this and mom saw him on the web cam....he didn't fit so well - hahaha).

Random Fridays

Nope - we not planning anything
Why do you ask?

It isn't a great picture, but Chanel had just reached out
and the look of disdain on Ivy's face is pretty priceless

yep - looking for trouble
(doesn't have to look too far - he IS trouble)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Mom took Chanel to a fundraiser on Tuesday for the rescue.
Chanel wasn't as comfortable as mom was expecting, so they didn't stay long (mom will write more about it later).
Chanel did have a temporary friend to keep her company though.... Mom found a pink sock monkey on sale and will be sending it to Cupcake (it is a running joke). However, to up the ante, she let the monkey take a trip with Chanel before being shipped out.
