Its a party

With a mom and six kittens in the foster room and the beans in the living room, there is never a dull moment around here (though ok they do sleep a lot).

The newbies are definitely little for their ages. They are pretty mobile and their eyes are no longer that bright blue. We are guessing about 6 weeks old. But they are all probably right around a pound, so little. Although mom is little so there's that to consider as well.

From a rescue perspective it's a little scary to think of the possibilities if this group had not cone to us and potentially not gotten spayed and neutered. That would be mom plus 4 more girls out there. Yikes

They are super cute and social which is great. They are nursing if mom let's them which isnt a lot. But they are eating everything in sight so that's good news.

Changes

 Let's see..... So this happened:

There are actually 6 (!!) kittens plus mom. They are all, imcluding mom, very tiny. But looking at teeth and eye color, we guess maybe 6 weeks old. "Found" somewhere and surrendered.

However, to make this work, we had to do the kitten shuffle. Aoili was ready to go so she is up at the adoption center. Another foster took Cameron and Harissa. The Beans are still here. Mom had put Chutney is with them but she broke out last night. The saucy girls and Cameron are scheduled for surgery next week so they will be available shortly after that.

And for those of you wondering, no-no bad kitten finally has a name.

Tacos

Look what we got from Cupcake and the head peep.

A taco truck!!!

Building inspector cat says you may be doing it wrong.

It has been generally occupied. The sous chef is kind of surly and not much help. That top front panel has come loose a couple of times already. Not sure it's been tested enough with a rowdy kitten but so far we like it.

The Beans

Someone dropped unweaned kittens off at the rescue 10 days ago. Luckily here was a note feeder available. However, her hours at work got weird. Since they are basically eating on their own (but oh are they messy), they came here.

Meet the beans: Chickpea (female torbie), Lima Bean (male short hair orange and white tabby) and Fava Bean (long hair orange and white tabby).

They are set up in the panels in the living room.

Nothing too exciting

Aoili was spayed on Thursday so she's ready to go. She's still a little rough with the little girls but they all get along pretty well in the foster room. Cameron is a little shy so he doesn't hang out with the girls in the airlock when the door is open.

Mom is having a terrible time with a name for a certain gray kitten. He has made himself at home and everyone is pretty much ok with all the changes.

downs and ups

As it sometimes happens, we lost a kitten Monday night. Tapenade came to us with her sister Chutney off the streets without a mom cat. She never really grew but was active and eating well. Mom went in Monday evening and she had collapsed. They ran to a vet urgent care but it was better to let her go.

In other news, mom submitted articles to the Cat Writers Association contest this year and got 3 certificates of excellence for the following stories:

So you want to adopt a cat

About her ear

And she was nominated by All Pet Voices for her article A Feral Kitten Finds Her Forever Home which was written for a campaign with cuddly.com

Goldfish would say thank you for all the attention, but let's be honest, attention is not her thing. haha

It's a boy

We suspect some of you saw this coming, but if not, mom is making it official:

This guy is staying. He just needs a new name. Mom is thinking Tahini but it may not stick. Maybe Sesame. Mom also calls him Godzilla for the way he stomps around and jumps on everyone but that a good nickname not official name for him.

Clearly he had this figured out early on, but mom wanted to be sure the girls and Junior would be ok with him. Everyone seems to be doing remarkably well. Probably better once he is out of the stupid teenager phase. Haha

Yes, he does sleep all sprawled put like that all the time. More than once mom has stared at him making sure he is breathing.
