Random Fridays

Someone asked the other day if Mae's purring is as loud as her talking voice. The answer is no - she actually has a rather petite purr. :)
~~~~~~~~~~~
We hope you are keeping on eye on Coral's Weight Contest page. Mom is keeping it updated. We got a very official weight at the v-e-t on Monday night. Keep in mind that we use a kitchen scale. And Coral runs around A LOT. And she doesn't get weighed at the same time every day....so there is some fluctuation. But... the v-e-t who has seen a her a couple of times now and declared her "tiny" saw her Monday (Ash was getting his stitches out - much easier than putting them in) and was all..."she is so big".
Right, sure, whatever....  MOL
~~~~~~~~~~

Mica and Amber have BOTH been adopted. Mica went home with the flaky lady mom met last weekend. Mom says she thinks he is in good hands but that the lady is just one of those that runs on her own timetable and doesn't have much regard for the concerns of others time.  Amber went home with another kitten from the adoption center. The family has 2 older cats and a dog (uh oh) but Miss Mona from the rescue said she had gotten a text and everyone was doing well (cause Amber had met a couple of dogs and wasn't so sure about them). Mom actually met this family as well. They had come in and were looking at Mica but his application was already pending. As the man was filling out the application, he was standing by their condo and Amber kept reaching out and grabbing his shirt. Good girl!!!

We got an award from The Cat on My Head
How cool is that???? It does come with a few rules though:
1. Visit and thank the blogger who nominated you.
2. Acknowledge that blogger on your blog and link back.
3. Share 7 random facts about yourself.
4. Nominate up to 15 bloggers for the Shine On award, provide a link to their blog in your post, and notify them on their blog.

THANKS to the kitties at The Cat on My Head!! We lurv those guys and gals.

7 random facts....hmmmm

Tim: my newest spot to sleep at night is right next to mom's hip
Tom: I don't mind when mom holds me upside down like a baby and scritches me
Mozart: I love to sleep in the sun...all the time (mom says I am gonna bake like a potato one of these days)
Ivy: I wish there were less boys in the house
Spud: I am excited for mom to get more shelves so I can be UP
Junior: mom is impressed cause I am getting a little closer to her in the kitchen (ok, there was kitten food involved - I couldn't help myself)
the mom: chocolate...need more chocolate  :)

We don't know who has or hasn't gotten the award so feel free to pick it up. we love all our followers and fellow bloggers and you help us shine. :)
~~~~~~~~
It has been in the 70s here all week so we have had the windows OPEN!!! Woohoo....and mom said that it should be nice over the weekend and we may be able to have them open then too.
Jet and Quartz are feeling much better. Winston and Calvin are still pretty snotty. Though mom got all excited the other day when it now appears that Winston really does have two eyeballs (the one was pretty glued shut most of the time despite mom keeping it cleaned up). Transport for a bloodhound Saturday morning and then an adoption event Saturday afternoon (Ash and Coral are going - maybe Jet and Quartz too).
We hope you all have a wonderful weekend!!
Random Fridays.....
We gotted an award from our friend Star at Celestial Kitties.....
Heaven knows we love us a good box....
Tim is happy on or in a good box
Basil and Saffron LOVED this box
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Remember us telling you about the family of Sphynx cats that came into the rescue this summer?  Well, the kittens were adopted pretty quick but the mom and dad cats (King Tut and Cleopatra) took a little longer. But....they were adopted together a couple of weeks ago. YAY!!!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Mom plans to let Cumin out again this weekend and hopefully he will be a little braver and not hide under the sofa. Mom asked the rescue to help find him a friend (since Saffron thinks he is the spawn of satan and growls at him every time she sees him)....but it is a weird time of year for kittens so no luck. Maybe something will come in over the weekend, but if not, we will figure it out.
Update on our new cousin Scooby Doo - he had his first v-e-t- visit and did very well. And the v-e-t thinks he is actually 15 weeks old (which makes a LOT more sense).
It is supposed to be a little warmer here this weekend - not enough for window wiffin'....and rain. blahhhhh  Mom says she hopes it is a quiet weekend and she can just relax.
Thanks for the good wishes for Licorice - we hope her forever family shows up soon. :)
Random Fridays
We hope that the start of 2014 has been good for all of you.
Mom spent most of Wednesday yelling at the football guys on TV.
We are still checking out the new guy.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

There is an adoption event at Petco this weekend, so mom will pack up the kittens and take them up there on Sunday. Mom would leave Amelia and Saffron, but she is hoping they will help socialize Cumin and she says they are 100% not snotty....and she knows leaving up there will no doubt make the snot come back.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This is how we plan to spend the weekend.
Amelia and Saffron were having a good time the other day with the blue trackball:
We got an award from Playful Kitty.
 There are some rules involved and well....we are bad with rules. :)  However, you are supposed to list 11 things about yourself. Since we normally talk about US, we thought maybe we would give that part to mom.  MOL  You are supposed to nominate 10 blogs to give it to...we don't know how has had it or not, but feel free to take it.  Take it away mom.
1. My younger brother and I were both adopted as infants...so no, we aren't actually related.
2. I am allergic to cats. And so many other things that I take a pill and deal with it. LOL
3. I have a BA in Business from Grove City College in Grove City PA.
4. I went to law school for a year after college and discovered I didn't want to be a lawyer.
5. So I got my paralegal certification and now work as a bankruptcy paralegal.
6. I hate doing housework....dishes, vacuuming, laundry, all of it.
7. When the cats say I am a techno-dork, they aren't kidding. I really don't have many skills.
8. I have a serious milk chocolate addiction. Don't like dark chocolate except peppermint patties.
9. I love to read - mostly mysteries and fantasy.
10. I hate to fly....if I can drive, I would much rather do it.
11. I don't do very well in crowds - which is why I took Triscuit to Blog Paws as an ice breaker.
Random Fridays.....
For those of you who don't follow Whiskers in the Window, they lost their 12 year old resident house panther Norman to the Rainbow Bridge yesterday and could use some love.
~~~~~~~~~~~~

Those S kittens are nutty!!!  Mom has thus far kept them in the play pen during the day but she thinks that may end soon. She did discover that Screech (seen in the first picture) is a little hand shy. We discovered that a co-worker of another volunteer found him, so he didn't get socialized until he came to the rescue. So, mom is gonna "force" the lovin' on him. Yeah - good luck with that mom.  MOL  The other kittens are pretty lovey. Sorcha has places to go but the smaller two like to shadow mom around the house and Sierra likes to snooze on mom in the evening.
Screech - waiting for the next kitten to wander by

We also got an award from Star at the Celestial Kitties. It is the "My Favorite Things Award".

We have to list 6 of our favorite things and then pass it on.

1. Maestro: my favorite thing is peace and quiet so I can get in my naps.

2. Tim and Tom: our favorite thing is snuggling next to mom at night

3. Mozart: mom.....love my mom

4. Ivy: the cat tree to get away from the barbarians in this house. [sniff]

5. Spud: dinner time

6. Junior: my favorite things are those foster kittens. They aren't scary and are fun to play with.
We are sure who has it or not, so feel free to take it and pass it on.....

11 things

1. What/who inspired you to become a blogger?  Mom: I had seen a few and decided I wanted a way to record the life and time of the cats. Turns out this is now more about the fosters, but the crew gets in from time to time as well.

2. What/who was the inspiration for your blog? Mom: at first the cats that live here and then the fosters which expanded into education and fun foster stories

3. What are your favorite hobbies?  Mo: snoozing....now if spring would only get here and it would get a little warmer with some more sunpuddles

4. Have you been changed by a place you visited?  Mom: Best Friends in Utah. It is an amazing sanctuary - not just for saving the animals, but the setting out in a canyon in southern Utah.  Cats: we don't travel - no way, no how.

5. Did you ever have a special connection with an animal that you had with no other being? Mom: I try not to have favorites here.....not that it doesn't happen. I will admit, there was a definite connection with our foster kitten Bourbon - not only special needs but super sweet and just a special kitten.

6. What is your favorite animal? Why? Tommy: doesn't she have to say the domestic cat??

7. Milk chocolate or dark chocolate?  Cats: none thanks....  Mom: milk :)

8. What is the farthest place from home you've visited?  Maestro: I used to live in Texas with mom (we now live in Ohio). Other cats: we have always lived here  Mom: Utah

9.  How did you get your first pet?  Mom: when I was a kid, we got a white german shepard. most of our family on my mom's side had had these dogs and we found a good breeder. Hazzard (guess when we got him) came to us as a puppy and we had him through my sophomore year in college.I didn't have cats until I was out on my own.

10. What/who is/are your inspirations for choosing names for your pets?  Mom: I am all about a good theme. I do try to avoid people names....I want something that is going to catch people's attention.  Tommy: what about Tim and me then?  Mom: you guys had your names when I adopted you and I didn't want to change them.

11. Do you have a favorite animal related book?  Homer's Odyssey by Gwen Cooper or Cat Daddy by Jackson Galaxy

Random Fridays

Did you see the post yesterday by Miss Chrystal????  Woohooo - more adoptions!!!  Frosting and Hershey have to get to CALIFORNIA!!!!  We have done it before and mom promised we will help make this one happen as well. If you live ANYWHERE between Illinois and Ohio and are planning a trip to LA (or close) and willing to help transport these kitties to their forever home, PLEASE let us or Miss Chrystal know.

The cats rescued from the house fire have been placed in other foster homes. We haven't heard anything else about the foster and her family....other than they are safe.

This from our friend Miss Beckie:
As the foster parent of two of the house fire cats I would like to thank everyone for the kind words and offers of support. My furry ones are now available for a home of their own. Berry is a black and white girl about a year old. She is very sweet and cuddly. Kooper is an orange guy about the same age. Both are living at the Petco at Kingsdale in Upper Arlington. Stop by and say hello to them.

Also:
First, THANK YOU to everyone who has offered to foster and who is fostering to help with this tragic event. And a big thank you to the Norton Road Veterinary Hospital and Rascal Animal Hospital for helping with the veterinary needs of these kitties!

These kitties are in very temporary foster homes and need to find their FOREVER homes! So we are having an adoption event with the foster home fire kitties THIS WEEKEND, from 12-5pm at the Petsmart on Rome-Hilliard. Adoption fees will be $35 for one cat, and $50 for two. There are also 2 of the kitties at the Petco at Kingsdale - Berry and Kooper (and big thank you to Petco for promoting and caring for them until homes are found!).

We gotted an award from Basil
Fanks.....we love you too!!!
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Notes from Emma's Wednesday post:
@Fuzzy Tales: Emma is full of...... something - haha
@Priscilla: thanks - we like the new look. Mom wanted to try something and got bored at work the other day.
@Belle: nope, K is in for the long haul. Heck, we think she might have been charmed by the bratty behavior.
~~~~~~~~~~~~

About Styx, Atlas and Hera: they were never at our house. Mom moved them from the adoption center straight to the store. But since mom will be doing their adoptions, we feel like they are extended family kitts. :)  No word on what is up with Atlas but Miss Mona says he is eating ok, so that is good news.

seven things about us

We are supposed to you seven things about us....we are gonna have to think about this since we mainly talk about ourselves anyhow.  We are gonna do one per kitty since there are seven of us.

Maestro: I enjoy being the old mancat of the house. Mom says I am pretty old, but hey - so long as I can get on the bed, it is all relative.

Tim: Mom calls me the chicken of the family....and maybe a little goofy!!

Tom: I may be the head mancat, but I am not ashamed to admit the v-e-t made me hide and whine a little bit.

Mozart: I will sit with mom to watch football....until she starts yelling at the TV.

Ivy: Sometimes I am kinda sneezy. I say the best ones are if I can get close to mom and get her glasses.

Spud: Hobby - chasing Ivy. :)

Junior:  NO TOUCHING!!!

Thankful Thursday....

Today we are thankful for our great friends on the CB.

We was given this award from Esme at Critters in the Cottage.   Thanks lovely girl.

We think we are supposed to tell 7 things about us and then pass it on. We have to admit, we aren't sure who has it or not, so if not, feel free to pick this up from us.  :)  And, since there are 7 of us, we are all going to take one.

1. Maestro: I may be old, but I am still getting around and feeling pretty good.

2. Tommy: I don't care what anyone says, I AM the master of this domain.

3. Tim: Mom has said it before, but I really do like the foster kittens (even if mom thinks I like the kitten food more than the kittens).

4. Mozart: I LOVE our cat tree - my favorite spot is the top shelf where I can see what is going on.

5. Ivy: I know mom says that I am her crabby princess, but it isn't my fault!!!! (and yes, this position really is comfortable)

6. Spud: Mom is all impressed with me - I am coming up to her more and more and asking for attention.

7. Junior: Nope - still not talking to you weird lady. (not this is new - haha)

Wordless Whisker Wednesday (ok not really).....

Seriously, we need to stop calling it "Wordless Wednesday" since it rarely is around here.

First, THANK YOU for the comments yesterday. Madam is safe, and that is the main thing that we are thankful for. As to K___, we hope karma catches her - Madam getting out wasn't an accident and she admitted that. Mom went over last night to check on her and D____. She seems more relaxed. More than D____ is at the moment. But the cats had sniffed each other and it seems to be ok. Mom did warn D___ that she needs to stay calm and breathe cause her stress feeds back to the cats. And if it doesn't work out, then we will go to plan B (ok, there isn't a plan B at the moment, but we will think of something).

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
And now to the whiskers....Ivy has a VERY impressive set....
wordless wednesday....
(mom here - I have to say, that just doesn't look comfy.
But this is the same box Ivy was sitting in last week.
What makes it funnier is that Caramel & Mochas really don't even like canned food.)
