Thankful Thursday!!

We have said it before, but we love saying it....

WE LOVE UPDATES ON FOSTERS AND ADOPTIONS!!
So, let's see......

Mom heard from Dagwood's new mom the other day (he had been adopted and returned and his paperwork was missing, so Miss Bev was calling to see if it had been found). Seems Daggie moved right in and has been wonderful. They love him lots and while Doogan (their 13 year old female) is a little hesitant, he has been great with her. So, it was worth the wait for the perfect match.

We also heard from the Dust Bunny's new mom. She is doing wonderful and also fitting right into the family. Her new older sibling isn't too sure about her but they got busted the other day ALMOST sleeping next to each other. MOL

And here is a serious flashback -

We had a litter of kittens named after nuts. And when mom left the humane society, she was able to tranfer them to the shelter where she volunteers now. Well our friend Miss Kelly was looking for a kitten for her brother and sister-in-law and decided to adopt Pecan for them. The nice part is when Miss Kelly goes to see her parents, she gets the updates from her brother who lives nearby. Pecan (they call her Squeekers and mom just can't do it) lives with a teenage boy and two big dogs....and from what we understand is completely in charge of everything.

And in an interesting turn, mom was at the shelter Tuesday night and was talking to a dad and daughter that had stopped in to look at the cats. Mom asked if they had adopted before and the girl said they got their last one from the shelter as a kitten and her name was Hazel.  Mom asked about the dates and it has to be our Hazel girl (Pecan's sister). She is doing very well, kind of shy but she was that way with us. :)

Random Fridays....

Mom says she has a case of the "ughs" but we aren't sure what that means. So, starting Saturday afternoon we intend to pin her to her chair and see if some lap time won't cure that.
~~~~~~~~~~~
We posted on Tuesday about it being time for the Dust Bunny to get a home of her own.
Well apparently she can read cause she was back to being snotty when mom got home from work on Tuesday. So....don't tell anyone, but the plan is to take Cumin up there. Right now it is Licorice (can we get a home for that girl???) and a 5 month old kitten named Princess that we know Cumin will love. (OK - we know, he loves every cat....stalker-boy)  Plus being up there the clerks will love all over him and he will discover a love of people a little faster.
~~~~~~~~~~~~

Sunday we have heard rumor of some big football game. Now, mom watches college football but doesn't so much care about professional football. But then we heard that....there is gonna be a KITTEN BOWL!!  And we had no idea there were kittens out there that knew how to bowl!
              ummmm guys - not THAT kind of bowl
Oh - there is gonna be TV with kittens playing on it. Wait - how did they get a camera in here??  MOL

maybe we should send Cumin there!!!
~~~~~~~~~~~
Hey - have you seen the ad Budweiser will be showing during the Super Bowl??
~~~~~~~~~~~

And mom wants to give a shout out to Melissa's Mochas Mysteries and Meows for posting about new books. Mom is always looking for something interesting to read and the post linked above was for an author Linda O. Johnston....mom has now read two books from the Pet Rescue Series and loves them.

Opt to Adopt - Amelia

Amelia - aka the Dust Bunny
photo taken January 26 - 5 months old

when she got here - about 6 weeks old

Yep - the cutie is still here. Mom was going to take her up to Petco on Sunday to be with another kitten about her age, but....the weather was yucky and mom didn't want to go out. So probably sometime this week mom will take Amelia up there. As mom says, she's not getting adopted running around the living room.

Amelia is sweet and sleeps right next to mom at night (cuddled up next to Maestro as well). We don't think she is going to be very big when she gets full grown either. And in a quiet house she would probably come up and ask for attention - here she just doesn't bother though she doesn't mind being loved on when mom catches her. (though she did give mom attitude the other day about getting a pawdicure)

Random Fridays....

We got the REALLY colds here again. brrrrr  We even got a little snow and Tommy and Ivy were checking it out. No window whiffing here any time soon.

 It's the Dust Bunny.....yep Amelia is getting big. Kind of interesting to watch. As soon as a spot opens up at Petco, she and Saffron will be heading up there together.

 That is Tim and Ivy on the top of the cat tree. We have NO idea how that can be comfortable, but they were up there together for a while. (though Ivy does seem to have a minor spill over problem)

We hope all of you are safe and warm. Mom has seen Allie several times this week and it makes her feel better to see her. At least we know she is safe.....the last time mom got a pretty good look at her and watched her walk into the garage and she looks good.

Cumin was neutered on Thursday and home that night. He is very good with the other cats but still a little jumpy with mom. Hopefully being up at Petco (at some point) will help his social skills as well. Meantime mom can get him up on Petfinder.

Random Fridays

We hope that the start of 2014 has been good for all of you.

Mom spent most of Wednesday yelling at the football guys on TV.

We are still checking out the new guy.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
There is an adoption event at Petco this weekend, so mom will pack up the kittens and take them up there on Sunday. Mom would leave Amelia and Saffron, but she is hoping they will help socialize Cumin and she says they are 100% not snotty....and she knows leaving up there will no doubt make the snot come back.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

This is how we plan to spend the weekend.

Amelia and Saffron were having a good time the other day with the blue trackball:

We got an award from Playful Kitty.

 There are some rules involved and well....we are bad with rules. :)  However, you are supposed to list 11 things about yourself. Since we normally talk about US, we thought maybe we would give that part to mom.  MOL  You are supposed to nominate 10 blogs to give it to...we don't know how has had it or not, but feel free to take it.  Take it away mom.

1. My younger brother and I were both adopted as infants...so no, we aren't actually related.
2. I am allergic to cats. And so many other things that I take a pill and deal with it. LOL
3. I have a BA in Business from Grove City College in Grove City PA.
4. I went to law school for a year after college and discovered I didn't want to be a lawyer.
5. So I got my paralegal certification and now work as a bankruptcy paralegal.
6. I hate doing housework....dishes, vacuuming, laundry, all of it.
7. When the cats say I am a techno-dork, they aren't kidding. I really don't have many skills.
8. I have a serious milk chocolate addiction. Don't like dark chocolate except peppermint patties.
9. I love to read - mostly mysteries and fantasy.
10. I hate to fly....if I can drive, I would much rather do it.
11. I don't do very well in crowds - which is why I took Triscuit to Blog Paws as an ice breaker.

A year in review (part 2)

July:
With Killian getting adopted and the rest of the beer kittens up at Petco, mom felt the need to bring home more kittens: Sorcha, Sebastian, Sierra and Screech

And then Licorice arrived....that has been an adventure (and she is STILL waiting for her forever home).

Our wordless Wednesday posts were dedicated to one of us per week. Most of July was taken up trying to determine what was up with Licorice, getting her healthy and less itchy.

August:
Sierra and Sebastian got adopted. And of course mom brought home more kittens - Hobbes and Mandy.

We celebrated our 4th blogoversary.

Busch and Miller were adopted together. We helped a former adopter rescue a kitten named Mitts. And Jake and Elwood came to the house as fosters.

September:
Stella was adopted!!!  And the pilot kittens - Goose, Maverick and Amelia (the Dust Bunny) joined us as fosters.

Mitts got adopted!!

Licorice finally was spayed, got her teeth cleaned and went up to Petco.

Spud and Ivy turned 5 years old and Maestro turned 19 years old!!

Elwood got to meow like a space-pirate.  MOL

And mom had an adventure with Junior that she could have done without.

October:
Tim and Tom turned 10 years old!

And we celebrated National Feral Cat Day. Especially our girl Allie.

Our cousin Max crossed the Rainbow Bridge. And Jake and Elwood got adopted.

And Basil and Saffron joined us as fosters.

November:
Oliver went to Petco, came here (in October), gave everyone the snot and then got adopted.

Rosie came to join Basil, Saffron and Amelia.

And Chex and Milano were returned due to medical issues with their family.

December:
Amelia finally got big enough and without snot to be spayed. Basil went with and was neutered.

Mom broke out some Christmas stuff....and made some of us wear it.

Basil got adopted. Maverick got adopted. Milano moved up to Petco. It was a wild weekend. :)

We got a special Catmas present from mom.

We participated in the Secret Paws gift exchange.

Rosie got adopted.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It has been quite a year. The blogging community has lost several members - you can see them here at the blog Our Rainbow Friends.  We have taken in fosters, and some were not strong enough to survive, but we know that part of fostering isn't always the good things but sometimes being there to help those that need us - even if it is help crossing the Bridge.
We have taken in 39 fosters this year. We have had some great adoptions. Mom has helped transport 20 dogs.
We wish you a wonderful, healthy and happy 2014!!  We can't wait to see what comes.
Too funny.....
Mom's friend Miss Beckie called mom about a couple of different things. One of them was a question about a "gray kitten" at Petco. Mom said that Basil is up there. "No, that isn't the name" Miss Beckie said. "Starts with an A".
Ummmm - that would be Amelia the Dust Bunny.
we is pretty sure she is black.....Miss Beckie thought that they had seen her picture online....
ok, but even there she should still be black. MOL
Santa...we are ready
Ugh....mom found some Christmas outfits she tried to make us wear. We better get extra treats from Santa for this one.
Ivy wears the hat, but she also appears to be contemplating her next move against mom.
Rosemary wasn't too sure either
Chex was sure if his eyes stayed close it would all end
then the collar with the bells
Amelia spun around in circles trying to find that jingling noise.
Adoption weekend.....
Mom is dragging the kittens off to Petco this weekend for their adoption event. Basil and Amelia were spayed/neutered on Wednesday and are ready to go. Mom had to read the paperwork twice - Amelia weighed 2.7 pounds and Basil weighed 4.1 pounds. Really???
Basil bounced back pretty fast. Amelia was ummmm....hung over. MOL
No...we don't know what she is doing.
She did it for several minutes.
Mom almost snorted soda out her nose.
And if they were being dragged off, this is how the kittens would prefer to spend the weekend.
 Saffron and Rosemary
Amelia
Basil and Saffron
If Basil got any more relaxed, he would be a puddle of fuzz.
