that didn't take long

Caramel went home on Sunday....we knew it wouldn't take too long. His new dad (yep - Caramel is living with a cat guy!!) has another female cat who is only about 6 months old, so Caramel is getting a new big sister. We wish them all well....and hope we get updates. :)

Mom has been checking on Madeline over at Petco. She is doing much better - the first few days she would hide and wouldn't eat. But we bought the food that she prefers and she is eating again. The one assistant manager says she will sit up on the shelves and chirp at them as well. We gots our paws crossed that she finds her forever family soon.

Mom was supposed to take new pictures of Marble and Silver, but she was slacking off.....but, the baby is doing well. Both eyes wide open and getting more mobile by the day. :)

And....meet Sissy:

The shelter got her in and wanted her in foster care to make sure she stays healthy until there is space on the adoption floor for her. She is about 12 weeks old. She was pretty skittish the first few days, but is more comfortable now. She spent Sunday napping with mom in the chair. She still hisses at us sometimes, but we just ignore her. She has some scarring on her eyes (mom isn't sure from what but they look like Mo's scar so she suspects eye infections). She sees most stuff but mom doesn't think she sees everything. But, she is fun. She climbed in the toy basket yesterday to find just the right ball to get out and chase around.

Changeover.....

Quite a few changes over the weekend here.....

Morton was adopted on Saturday. He will be spoiled rotten by a single lady with no other cats (though he may end up getting a companion when they are both ready).

A woman had been coming in over a week after meeting mom at the adoption event. She was interested in Cheerio, but her husband was being wishy-washy. She called mom on Saturday and said she was ready. Cheerio is going to be a foster-to-adopt to make sure he adjusts ok (we know he will).

The rescue is working with mom to place Madam who is now being called Madeline. She adjust pretty well with our neighbor but a spot at Petco opened up, so mom moved her over there last night. She was a little scared, but the staff at the store are all great and we know she will come around in no time.

And.......  Caramel will be vaccinated today and go to Petco tonight. Boy is he in for a surprise. But, we know he should find his forever home pretty quickly.

Happy St Paddy's Day.....

Mom is wearing her green for those Spartans....and still watching basketball.

We had a picture of Mocha & Caramel up in Brian's St Patrick's Day contest and the kitts took an honorable mention.

Hope you are having a great weekend.......we are relaxing and enjoying the open windows!!

What a weekend......

Mom ran some errands, spent some time at the shelter and then went over to grandma's house....grandpa was out of town with a group from there church helping with disaster relief in Indiana.

Sunday mom took Caramel to Petco for their adoption weekend. Lots of people looking - and some donations which is good. Cheerio has a couple interested, so we will keep you posted on him. Caramel decided he DID NOT like being at this event and ended up in time out in the crate. MOL

We got locked up in the afternoon for a couple of hours. There was lots of banging and the dyson monster. When we were let back out, the dining room table was gone (mom sold it) and we found this:

Our other tree is now in the back bedroom. Mom says her next project is reorganizing that..... (sure - just don't hold your breath)

Tabby boy.....

OK, we have to just get this out there: mom is kind of obsessed with Caramel. That boy needs to get well and get out......  :)

Of course, if she is taking picture of him, she isn't pointing the flashy box at us....something to keep in mind. MOL

He was sleeping on top of a sofa cushion that is kinda squished from a certain princess cat sleeping on it and so he sank....mom said it added to the cute.

Mancat Monday & Judi-Bug

Mom Judi from SASS needs our purrs and prayers......we LOVE YOU!!!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Mancat Monday
Cheerio is coming along very well. He was out Saturday afternoon. When mom put him in his room for the night (she is afraid he is going to get under something in the bedroom and she won't be able to get him out in the morning - she leaves the door closed during the day). Anyhow, he started banging on the door to get out!!!  And Sunday morning he started in as soon as he heard mom get up. :)
He still hides a little, but he is out and about a lot more. The first breakthrough was Friday night - Caramel was in the kitchen chirping away as he killed a cat toy. Cheerio snuck out and the next thing we knew he was in the kitchen with Caramel.
Cheerio still growls softly when he gets cornered, but he also chirps at mom and comes when she calls his name. She wants him to have another week with us to work on his social skills, but in a week he has made some serious progress.
Dr Seuss Day
Cats with snot
Are not so hot
But thanks to the test
That's ALL he has got.
(we here are Random Felines take NO responsibility for the bad rhyme - mom thinks she is funny)
Well, the v-e-t called last night with Caramel's test results. Which were....not what we expected. He has the typical URI - nothing spectacular jumped out at the vet. So, he will stay on the drug he is currently on for another 14 days and hopefully that will fix it. He has been on it for 7 days now and we don't notice any difference, but maybe that is just us.....
And now, for some video:
Sleeping on the bed
And then, not so much
Finally Friday......
Let's see......
Mom got a call from her neighbor last weekend about our neighborhood cats. Seems the one boy they haven't caught yet was limping....mom gave her access to the house to get the live trap but no luck yet. However, she has nearly caught Blackie 3 times now (he has been caught once every season we put out the trap...no fear of live traps). :)
Speaking of ferals, Brian has a chip-in set up for a local group in his area that needs some help. Mom got paid today so we are stealing some green papers to send.
Otherwise, we have been behaving....as much as we ever do. Mom says she is busy tomorrow but we are planning a slow Sunday.....
Thankful Thursday....
Mom says she is just thankful that it IS Thursday....  MOL
Oh hey - our friend Miss DeLynn went with her family to Utah and they all spent a day at Best Friends. When mom was there last year, they overnighted a dog named Mercy. Well, Miss DeLynn learned that Mercy has been adopted and is going home next week. YEAH!!! Concats on your new home sweet girl!!
Let's see - really nothing new here. Mom says she is slowly catching up at work from being gone.
The kittens are still pretty snorky. And mom says that Caramel may have given it back to Mocha. sigh...  So, they go back to the v-e-t tomorrow. Mom wants to get the noise on her camera since Caramel doesn't make it all the time. Hopefully Dr. Jensen will have some new ideas.
on your floor vent, stealing your warms
wordless wednesday....
(mom here - I have to say, that just doesn't look comfy.
But this is the same box Ivy was sitting in last week.
What makes it funnier is that Caramel & Mochas really don't even like canned food.)
Wordless Wednesday.....
Quick Edit: there is a local rescue that has posted a request for signatures on this petition. The city council is planning to pay (a lot) to have a guy come out and trap and kill stray cats - but won't recognize TNR and won't help local groups.....
Beware - serious cute ahead!!!
Tabby & Tortie Tuesday....
Well, it was bound to happen.....the kittens got a b-a-t-h....
Mom was doing her hair on Sunday (something about a gray color she doesn't like so much). And she grabbed the flea comb (with the really close tines) and ran it through both kittens. Found lots of dirt - and a couple of friends. YIKES!!! So, into the tub they went.
We have gotten questions....do all kittens get baths? When and why? And HOW???
Not all kittens get baths. We don't get them at all. We are self-cleaning, thanks!!!  However, sometimes we have pretty tiny kittens that are....well....messy. So they baths. Mom says in all our kittens, she thinks there have only been 3-4 litters that have gotten the bath.
Bug and the black semi-feral girls got theirs in the kitchen sink. Then mom thought there had to be a better way. So now everyone goes in the shower....yep with her (we know, TMI). Works out pretty well...
They still sound pretty snotty, but mom says they are definitely getting better....
PeeEss: the kittens never leave the floor of the bathtub - mom isn't risking anything more than her ankles. :)
well, that's....weird
Happy Friday the 13th....May all your luck be GOOD!!
As you all know, we got new foster kitts last Friday.....and they were SNOTTY!!! Poor trailer park babies - don't know what gushy fud is, have earmites and had fleas, nasty URI.....  BUT - now they are safe and friendly and getting better....
So, Tuesday night mom was in loving on the babies. And she picked up Mocha and felt something...strange. Like the ribs on her one side almost folded in. Now, mom doesn't freak out about much anymore, but she was concerned. Did someone hurt Mocha? Was this going to hurt her as she grows? We needed some answers.
Mom is lucky that she works for a small office (ok, not so lucky in some aspects, but they humor her rescue stuff). She left early yesterday and got Mocha into see a v-e-t at Rascal. Everyone was very enamored by the cute!!  :)  The tech checked her out and felt her side...yep, strange. She took Mocha back to weigh her and when she came back said she had passed the vet and when they got their hands on Mocha agreed an x-ray was in order (which mom had presumed). So, Mocha got her picture taken (she was very good according to the tech). Then the v-e-t came in to see them.
"well, that's.....weird"
Great, mom thought....I paid for that??  But the v-e-t smiled and said that she thinks everything is fine. They will have a radiologist take a look to be sure, but the v-e-t thinks it is a birth defect. The ribs on that side curve over like they are supposed to but then sharply turn in toward her lungs. And the v-e-t said her floating rib was REALLY floating out there. Mom asked about effects when Mocha grows. The v-e-t said she doesn't think it should be an issue, but understands the concern especially for potential adopters. She said that as Mocha grows, her ribs should grow at the same rate and while they won't straighten out, they shouldn't cause any damage. No guarantees, but at least good news. Mom talked to the rescue lady and they all agreed better to know now and be able to tell people - or be able to fix something now when she is little.
Oh, and both kitts got their ears cleaned and medicated again.
awwwww
Caramel says "stay away from my dinner" (either that or he was pre-sneeze)
Mom let them out for the first time last night. Mocha played in the back bedroom. Caramel made it as far as the hall....and ran back into the bathroom when he saw himself in the mirror on the back of mom's bedroom door. MOL!!!
Wordless Wednesday....
Quick update on the kitts: Caramel is BEGGING for attention every time mom goes in there and is very cuddly. Mocha is getting there too - she sat next to mom last night and didn't jump when mom picked her up - and she started to purr.....  :)
And, now, for your viewing pleasure, the resident old man cat: Maestro
500 Posts!!!
OMC - we are kind of amazed we made it to this point!!!
And of course, to celebrate, mom brought home more foster kittens.....  MOL
They are VERY snotty. Mom feels so very sorry for them. They are now on drugs and hopefully will be feeling better soon. The little tortie girl is kind of....hissy. :)  They were found in a trailer part and are probably about 9-10 weeks old. Their ears are nasty as well...ewwwww
A few days in the bathroom (they have already found the doorstop) and they will be allowed out....should be entertaining. :)
So, let's meet the kitts: (mom was on a caffeine fit today, so they are named after frozen coffee drinks)
Caramel (male buff tabby)
Mocha (tortie female)
