Random Fridays

We took a vote and mom is going to have to leave the gingerbread house up forever (though the chimney is now missing.....)
Don't you love how Ivy folds her paws up like that??
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The kittens are doing well. The other night there was some serious howling and when mom checked on them, Millie was in the box with the kittens and Versace was out walking around (if you want to call it that) on his own. No idea if he got fell out of the box on his own or Millie took him out and then left him out. Either way mom put him back and there have been no escapees since then.
It is supposed to be pretty nice here this weekend. The windows have been open some but then it gets chilly at night and mom worries about the little ones so she closes most of the windows in the evenings. She is thinking about planting flowers again on the balcony and maybe trying to get that started this weekend as well.
homewreckers - part 3
Episode 3: getting closer to mass destruction
Supervisor kitty has some doubts about the wreckage technique
Wrecker kitten goes in for more damage from the inside
Wrecker kitten gets distracted by supervisor kitty's tail
And you wonder why the house is still standing
Cassis jumped off the coffee table, slid over the roof and the whole house flipped over. She jumped around some on the inside and then rolled it again while she was distracted by Daiquiri. Amazingly, the tape held and the is still intact - mostly. Though mom did have to turn it back right side up.
The chimney so far is taking the most damage. Daiquiri chews and it and had gotten it off of the house once. Mom put it back but suspect it may disappear at some point and eventually be torn into bits by the supervisor kitty that likes to chew on cardboard (thankfully she doesn't eat it).
Not sure how this is going to continue as the wrecker kitten is due to go back to the adoption center this evening.....
Happy Valentine's Day to all of you!!!
Mom was distracted last night by the dog show and plans to be watching again tonight. She and Miss Amy will be on twitter doing a drinking game if you need a good laugh.
bath house
Guess the girls decided if you can't wreck the house, you might as well put it to good use.
Cassis was in there first and Daiquiri came in and started giving her a bath. Now, we know what you are thinking - awww, isn't that sweet. Which would be true, except that we are pretty sure Daiquiri had a plan....and it worked. Groom the kitten enough and she will eventually leave and you get the house all to yourself!!
notice Cassis' paws - all "no no stop"
Cassis put up with this for a few minutes and eventually left. The expression on her face in that last picture pretty much sums it up.
Daiquiri is pretty funny about kittens. When Cassis first was allowed out of the foster room full time, Daiquiri found her mostly annoying. We think she still does, but like Tommy and Spud decides after a few days that being annoyed doesn't make the kitten go away and requires too much effort.
If you missed episode 1 - click here
Last week, Cassis and Daiquiri took it upon themselves to inspect and attempt to destroy the gingerbread house. Due to decent construction duct tape, their efforts were thwarted.
it would appear they have brought in reinforcements this time
but it looks like the new guy is taking a break already
supervisor cat is appalled by their behavior
supervisor cat says: must be this high to work on the windows
assistant cat lays down on the job
while supervisor cat checks the door frame strength
if you want something done right, do it yourself
So far it looks like house 2, homewrecks 0. Stay tuned.
Mom still has our gingerbread house from 2015 in the living room. The castle is in the foster room and will probably stay there. After this adventure, we aren't too sure how long the gingerbread house is going to survive....though mom plans to leave it out since someone is usually sleeping inside it.
roof inspectors
doesn't look sturdy, does it?
inspector's boss lady says - you are doing it wrong
ok kid - get outta there
It is amazing how well this has held up over time. Of course, with the foster room, there aren't marauding kittens that cause more destruction than we do around here.
Merry Catmas
We are hanging here in the gingerbread house waiting for Santa Paws to show up with presents.
We wish ALL of you a very Merry Catmas and Happy Holidays. We are posting this now since we take weekends off.
not so wordless Wednesday
There was a disturbance on the coffee table and the gingerbread house fell off. Mom turned it back over and set it on the floor rather than back up on the table. Apparently that is what we had been waiting for since the house has now been fairly regularly occupied.
weekend report
Mom got all her Christmas shopping done. Including our Secret Paws that will go out in the mail today.
Mom got some errands run and then watched some basketball.
The French kittens are out and about all the time now except at night. And on Sunday this happened:
Calais climbed up on the chair and curled up with mom....all her own idea. She purred and purred. Now to work on the ninjas. MOL  Mom can hold them if she catches them and they occasionally come up and look at her, but they are still a little jumpy. But they LOVE the other cats and toys.
And mom broke out our new gingerbread house. We got it as a gift from Mom Paula over at Sweet Purrfections. This one isn't being used as much as the others and mom isn't sure why, but there does tend to be someone in there a good part of the time. Thanks to mom Paula and the girls for our present (mom got it at BarkWorld).
World Cat Domination
Our friend Sparkle would always celebrate, and this year her protege Summer is taking the lead.
Now, as kittens, we think these are cute enough to take over the world....but they seem to be restricting themselves to taking over the house. Not sure who exactly sat on the roof to turn it inside out, but mom was later able to fix it. Of course, the kittens put a lot of work into their demolition domination plans.
Random Fridays
Hey Ivy - we don't think your head is gonna fit through there
As you can see, our gingerbread house is still holding up (ignore the staple marks around the
windows - we are blaming Stoli and Sangria). And mom is happy to sat that there is normally a cat snoozing in it as well. Money well spent.....plus the tape on the corners has prevented further issues with it coming apart. If Target does it again, we do hope they make it a little bigger - the house tends to come off the scratcher when certain parties here stand up to exit. MOL
We want to take a minute to THANK each and every one of you for being our friends and continuing to read and participate in this community....otherwise we would just be talking to ourselves. MOL
the mom here: my friend Amy posted on facebook the other day looking for one word to inspire 2015. Which got me to thinking, especially in light of the review of 2014 I had up here the last couple of days. It certainly seems sometimes that we all get caught up in the moment. But looking back, it is more of a roller coaster - some ups and some downs. And a good deal of it from outside sources.... so how to start 2015? Being a music fan, I think the Beatles said it best "Let it Be". Take a moment to breathe in and breathe out... realize that THIS moment will end and the next will come. Life is a journey - it isn't a race. There is a destination, but honestly, what is the hurry to get there??  Yes, there will be frustrations and sadness and moments that are overwhelming. But they are moments....not the entirety. I love being part of this blogger community where we can gather together for encouragement, information, love and loss. Thank you for once again choosing to travel with me and the cats and fosters on this journey. I can't guarantee results but I can guarantee it will be worth the ride.
weekend wrapup
Mom did some "spring" cleaning. Yes...we know it is winter here, but we never said the woman was right in the head....She took out some old stuff to toss or recycle. And then move around a couple of shelves. One now in her bedroom and the a new one in our room. She said next step is to move some other stuff and then put up some shelves to make us a super highway. More on that later.....
The kittens are having a blast. We are trying to figure out the next step for them at this point. But in the meantime, it is a party around here.
thinking about attacking the gingerbread house
ready to defend the house
is she coming or not?
 This cat sack was part of our Secret Paws box. No one seemed willing to go inside, so mom grabbed Daiquiri and shoved her in it. And suddenly she discovered it was pretty nice in there....until Kahlua heard the crinkling and came over to investigate.
