Random Fridays

Thanks for the support about Cinnamon....it is hard losing them.
~~~~~~~~~~~
About the Wordless Wednesday pics....Topeka actually is in all three pictures. Thankfully mom had her camera right there and managed to get the shots....the legs were a classic moment.
~~~~~~~~~~~

Reno, Topeka and Anise all had their spay/neuter surgery on Wednesday. And all spent Wednesday evening passed out around the house. Mom picked them up mid afternoon and locked them in the bathroom until she got home and then let them out. Once out, they all picked a spot and went back to sleep. Topeka's spot was on mom.... such a tough job she has.

Nashville was very bored that evening...no one wanted to play with him except Daiquiri and he isn't quite so sure what to think about her. He spent a lot of time running around in circles trying to entertain himself.

Nashville has a gooped up eye so he will be around a little bit. There is an adoption event tomorrow that mom will take the other three too and then they will go up to the adoption center presuming there is space.
~~~~~~~~~
If you didn't see it, our Morocco momma cat was adopted Wednesday night!!! Nice family and they have renamed her Maru. They do have another cat so there will be an introduction period. And....the new mom brought her sister and she adopted a cat from the rescue as well. WOOHOO!!
~~~~~~~~~~

Daiquiri had a sad Sunday night. Normally our foster kittens are put in their own space at night...allows them to have kitten food and also allows the rest of us to sleep in peace. However, if we have a kitten for a while that is a little older, they are allowed out 24/7. Think Jake and Elwood, Uncle Bill, and now London. It is a pretty short list actually.

Anyhow, as mom would be getting ready for bed at night, Daiquiri and London would chase each other around the bedroom - under the bed, under the dresser, under the night stand and around and around.

London went home Sunday morning. And Sunday night, Daiq came into the bedroom and went....under the bed, under the night stand and then under the dresser. Mom wondered what she was doing, then it dawned on her....Daiq was looking for London. OMC!!! So mom stroked Daiq and tried to explain the boy went to his forever home. She hasn't done it since so maybe she realizes he isn't here anymore. Poor kitt.....

We still got the hots, so we are enjoying the cold air vents for a while longer. It is a holiday weekend here in the US, so we will be off until Tuesday (unless mom feels motivated, but don't count on it - MOL). Have a safe and relaxing weekend!!

weekend report

Mom started off Friday afternoon by stopping to see Morocco at the partner pet store. She is doing very well and seems to be chatty and outgoing with people as they stop to talk to her. Hopefully she will get adopted and into her own home very soon.

Saturday mom took off early to see a man about a hound:
This is Jack. He and his buddy Diane were found by a good samaritan wandering the woods after a run in with a porcupine. They were taken in by OBR and Diane moved a couple of weeks ago to a long term foster. Jack just moved this past Saturday. He is a bigger boy but jumped right in the car ready to go.

Mom went to a fundraiser Saturday afternoon and spent Sunday relaxing. London is still here and snotty again so he is back on meds. The TNR kittens still need names and are getting bigger and more eager to explore. Mom put the white pen up as a gate to give them some space to run outside the pen while being contained. They can't climb the gate, but one of the boys figured out how to climb the pen to get out. Fun and games.

Thankful Thursday

Morocco goes to be spayed next Tuesday and then can start looking for her forever home. She has started singing a mild version of the "I need a boyfriend" song, so that will be a relief to everyone here. Morocco has turned into quite a lover. She enjoys getting up on mom's lap and just lounging. She will make a great companion for someone. She gets along with most of us here....she gets annoyed when Daiquiri plays "too rough" with the kittens, but otherwise she has been fine. Mom would love to get her really brushed out but Morocco won't hold still very long.

We are also thankful for local pet stores that support rescues and adoptions. We are all about Adopt Don't Shop!! Another local chain has reached out - the rescue currently has cats in 2 of their stores and starting today will add another store. Mom will be volunteering there twice a week to clean the 3 cages and will also handle the adoptions. We are hoping for lots of adoptions from this location. The one store has had cats in it for about a month and has already done 18 adoptions. The rescue won't be putting kittens in these stores, so these are all adult cats!!

And we are VERY thankful for friends like Miss Andrea from Celestial Kitties!! She adopted 3 kitties from Winnie's Wish (Daily Dose) and has regular FUN-draisers for them as well. It is that time again - and this theme is Surf and Turf!!  We are gonna get mom's magic card and get us some new toys. Are you in???

weekend wrapup

We were hoping for some open windows. Mom tried it off and on for the weekend as the temperature was cooler, but the humidity was pretty bad so she would have to give up from time to time and turn the cool air back on.

No events or transports this weekend, so it was rather relaxing. Or as relaxing as it can get with 2 kittens that run around like nuts part of the day. MOL

Daiquiri kind of smooshed herself in there but was sound asleep

Morocco isn't really allowed up there
But she is trying to wean the kittens and is having
to find higher and higher places to hide from them

London is MUCH less snotty.
Can't even hear him breathing anymore.

snuggling brothers

no idea how that was comfortable

As most of you know, June is/was Adopt A Shelter Cat month. We kind of fell down on the job about promoting it. But....the rescue we foster for is now a partner rescue with Best Friends Animal Society and in honor of this month, they were offering adoption special prices for cats and kittens. We don't know the final number of adoptions, but mom says the adoption center has been busy every time she has been there the last week. While we love adoptions year around, we also love anything that brings attention to more adoptions for shelter cats and dogs.

new kittens

On Saturday, mom had to bring a big boy back from Petsmart to the adoption center due to him having a cold. While there, since Margarita had moved to Petsmart, mom offered to take another tiny family. There were several options, but the head of the rescue ended up sending this group home with mom:

They were left in a carrier outside the rescue center. ugh.....

Anyhow, mom is a sweet torbie. And there are three boys.....one brown tabby and two flame point meezers. Their ears and tails have changed, though their noses aren't orange. The boy in the front of the picture and mom have a pretty nasty cold, so they are on meds. And no....there isn't anything else wrong with him. He has something stuck to his fur on his face and while mom has tried to clean him up some but it may need some soap and mom doesn't want to stress him out too much.

Introducing: Morocco (the mom), Cairo (the brown tabby) and London and Rome (the orange boys). The #citykittens

Morocco is super sweet and asks for attention. Though she is pretty defiant about not taking the meds. So far mom is winning, but it may end up being a draw. Cairo and the other meezer (mom is threatening to put letters in their ears cause she can't tell them apart at the moment) seem to be healthy...but that may not last. The snotty meezer is pretty stuffed up but hopefully that will clear up quickly with meds on board. He is eating, so mom isn't too worried about him.

Mom put the gate back up in front of the bathroom door to act as an airlock. However, upon smelling canned food, the fiesta kittens charged the gate and mom opened the door to a pair of orange tabbys. Now mom has to grab them every time she leaves. It is every kitten for themselves around here.
