Random Fridays

Uncle Bill has left the building. He will be boarding at a local vet until Monday when his new mom will pick him up. When mom was dropping him off, his new mom came in to see him. The family was originally going to adopt a kitten named Flame, but he is very very sick. So Miss Beckie talked to them about Bill. But the lady hadn't even seen a picture of him since he is no longer on Petfinder due to being in the witless protection program.  She took one look at Bill and fell in love. Go figure...

~~~~~~~~~~
Kyan has a new love. Mom saw this the other night and almost fell out of her chair laughing.
Yes ladies and gentlemen - that is Ivy that Kyan is snuggling with on the cat bed.
~~~~~~~~~~

And we have good news!!!

Opal went home on Wednesday. She will have her own kid and a senior golden retriever to love on. Plus her new mom said they are keeping her name!

And.....Cory and Kyan will be going home together on Friday. Mom is having to scramble to get Kyan neutered (shoulda done it when you did the others mom....) and then to another volunteer to send them home, but they will have a firefighter dad and a pair of teenage boys. Wooohooooo

Random Fridays......

Well, mom went into work yesterday.....and then came home a couple of hours later. Color us surprised. Seems someone cut the power lines outside her office for the copper and the office has NO power....no phone, no heat, no computer, no nothin'. So, until they can get someone out, the boss sent them home. And it is being fixed today, so no work today either. But mom says she gots stuff to do so she may have to go in tomorrow or maybe Monday (which was supposed to be a baycation day). Mom also discovered she would never be able to work from home. Tommy kept going after her coffee drink from Panera, Bourbon destroyed a set of shoe laces (that will teach her to leave shoes on the floor), the Gemstone kitts climbed her legs and untied her shoes and walked on the laptop.
~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~
The phone batter is still missing. It is wide and flat - no rolling and no way someone could have eaten it. Mom is still annoyed.....  We told her at least she had a good reason to clean behind the stove. She didn't laugh.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
We do think it is a shame that Uncle Bill can't relax around here:

 (yep, that is Bourbon in the cat bed with Bill)
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Speaking of Uncle Bill and Bourbon, when mom got home, she let out the Gemstone kitts and everyone was running around having a good time. The older kittens LOVE to wrestle and this broke out.....That is Kyan you see going up and down the tree.
(we had to pull it right off the camera cause you tube "upgraded" and mom can't find the bleepin' upload button)
~~~~~~~~

ooooo - and we got a case of the happies too!!!  There were some great adoptions from the shelter: Maxx the old man cat, Dolly (who had been at the shelter for OVER a year) and..... our boy Duke!!

kitten update....

Well, it is looking like it may be about "that" time. Mom pulled out her scale the other night and got weights on the Gemstone kittens:

Opal: 2.5 pounds, Cory 2.5 pounds, Kyan 2.1 pounds, Emma 1.5 pounds (yeah, not really surprised by that last number).  So, mom may call the clinic to see about surgeries for Opal and Cory. The issue is how to get them up to Petco. Cleo may be OK with them, but the store manager may freak out a bit.

Speaking of Cleo, mom thought she might have had a home for her over the weekend. Mom stopped into the store to check on everyone and there were some ladies with no other animals at home interested in Cleo. Mom gave them an application and was playing with Cleo when she heard the ladies making some snide remarks about the questions on the application. Mom walked away and when she came back they were gone. It is frustrating that some people seem to think that they are "helping" us by "taking" a cat and therefore there should be no application, no contract and no adoption fee. OK, then sorry NO cat for you. ugh.....

Anyhow, mom had been a little worried about Emma for a while. She is obviously smaller than everyone else and while they are interested in playing, Emma was more interested in sitting on mom's lap and not doing much. Well, over the weekend that has changed and Emma has been playing more. Still not as much as everyone else....but more than she has been. (and watch the whole thing - about half way through she has words with Uncle Bill)

so close and yet.....

Bourbon and Moonshine were laying on the floor the other night - close to the same position a couple of feet apart. It was pretty cute and mom got up quietly to get the flashy box.

She got back out and was setting up to take the picture....

when....

there was a thundering down the hall and this happened:

Gives photobomb new meaning.....

And we love that Shine sat there, in the same position he started in, and watched Bourb get run over.  MOL  Uncle Bill is feeling MUCH better and has become quite the firecracker around the house.

Mom did get a couple of cute pictures of the alcohol boys though.....

Da Bourb loves that scratcher, but we don't think he is using it quite right.

Witless protection program

We think you have seen Uncle Bill around here for the last week or so. He is about 6 months old and SUPER sweet. Mom thinks he is part persian cause he is short and round and fluffy and his face is a little shorter than the rest of ours. (mom asked Miss Beckie and he came in with a brother who was long legged and short haired - cat genetics, gotta love 'em)

Anyhow, Uncle Bill had been at the other Petco store. And a lady put in an application for him. But it wasn't a good application. She was told that but continued to harass the store employees and Miss Beckie. So we decided to move him to the store up here. The joke was that he was in the "witness" protection program. After hearing more, mom decided the "witless" protection program was more appropriate. MOL

Of course, after three days Bill got sick and so now he is here with his runny eyes and sneezes. Once he gets better, he will head back up to the store. We suspect with his disposition and overwhelming cute, he won't be there long.  :)

um mom....

We know these new kitts are temporary, but some of us are NOT happy.....

Our local shelter needed a place to keep a couple of kittens since there was no surgery last week and they want kittens to stay healthy. Of course, the lady that called said she had a mom and kittens. Apparently she "forgot" to mention the kittens are about 5 months old. The boy cat came with his sisters, but he started a pee war here with Tommy, so he had to go back to the shelter (who knew that was mom's line in the sand - so to speak). The kittens are named after characters from The Big Bang Theory, but mom didn't get any names, so the tortie is being called Lula and the torbie Cupcake. They have been out with us for a couple of days. Both girls aren't sure what to think about Moonshine, but they have both developed an apparent crush on da Bourb..... who can blame them??? Mom caught Cupcake laying about 6 inches away from Bourb last night giving him the googlie eyes. Mom didn't get a picture, but it made her laugh.

Then Uncle Bill from Petco got a little sick so mom brought him here too. sheesh.... Mom thinks he may be part Persian....he has a flatter face, a round body and short tail with a LOT of fuzz. :)  He is spending all of his time out with us (the girls above spend the nights in the bathroom with the gemstone kitts). He even climbed into bed with mom on Sunday night and slept right next to her - when Tommy growled at Bill, Bill just rolled over and yawned. That is one cool kitten.

And no, we don't suggest you try to do the math about how many of us there are right now, it will make your head hurt. :)

The auction for the gemstone kitts is in full swing and running through December 1. Click on the sidebar and go see what is available.

Mom is letting the kitts out with supervision. They have what she calls "baby brains" - they get so involved in playing that they forget important things. So yesterday morning mom let them out (mom was taking a baycation day) and after an hour or so walked back and called them....yes, they do follow her. They got into the bathroom - and 3 out of 4 kitts decided they had to pee - at the same time. MOL
