weekend happenings

The kitts are about 5 weeks old now (give or take). They got their first vaccines on Saturday. They did well and are growing like crazy.

Fanta

Rootbeer

Faygo
(she has more white on her chest)

Strawberry

They have figured out how to climb the gate. We like this one since it is taller, but the bars are closer together. Daiquiri still sits right outside, but also still hisses at the kittens.

Strawberry is fine with everyone....so long as we stay OUTSIDE the gate. Tim went over the other day and Strawberry was NOT having it. Mom said the impressive part was how quickly Tim turned right around and got back out. MOL

The kittens are incredibly sweet and outgoing. Mom got to ask about their background...the rescue got a call from an apartment complex that found the family outside. Which means to us someone had to have kicked them out....mom is a nice girl, they are all pretty healthy and the kittens are social.

soda kittens

The new kittens are doing very well. Strawberry (the mom cat) is a bit sneezy, but honestly with all she has been through in the last week, that isn't too surprising. She is eating well and doing well, so mom is going to let it ride and keep an eye on her.

The kittens are hilarious - jumping all over each other. And they just don't hold still really well for pictures.

Anyhow, some of you may remember the flower collar:
Mom got it at BlogPaws 2013 and Triscuit (seen above) wore it well. It isn't very big (it is actually made for ferrets) but it fits the little ones.

Mom decided to try it on the newbies....with limited success. MOL

Rootbeer (the black tabby male) refused to cooperate. The girls (Fanta and Faygo - mom has to get better side by side pictures of them to determine which is which....their markings are similar but different enough to tell them apart) were ok with it but weren't thrilled.

TBT

Remember these two??  Tangerine and Clementine??

Well, mom gets updates from their new mom and dad and they are doing great:

Mom thinks the darker on is Ike (Clementine) but has to admit she isn't sure. They are the light of their new momma's life and keep her entertained. We do hear they were interested in the Christmas tree at first but eventually left it alone. MOL

Opt to Adopt and Fundraiser

As most of you know, in addition to our local rescue, we are big fans of Miss Chrystal and Winnie's Wish over at Daily Dose of Dogs. Well, if you haven't heard by now, they are having a fundraiser to build another cat house. They are at max capacity....so if you have ever considered adopting, now is the time. And don't let distance stop you - we have helped get kitties to California and Canada!!

You can go to their GoFundMe site and donate.

Or....an auction is being organized:

Here are those ready for new homes:

It's that time of year

Mom posted on her facebook page last week that she dreamt of gray kittens.

The kittens aren't gray, but the mom cat is, so we think that counts. Mom got a text Saturday morning and picked them up then.

Mom is a long haired gray. She is a little timid but a nice girl and we know she will come around in time. She lets mom pet her but has been hiding.

The tabbies are both girls. The black kitten, who has some interesting stripes and markings that we know will come in more as he gets older, is a boy.

Mom got thinking about names: mom cat will be Strawberry, and the girls are Fanta and Faygo, the boy is Rootbeer.

Oh.....and they have a stalker:

It will be interesting to see what Daiquiri thinks of the kittens. They are about 4 weeks old so it will be at least a couple of weeks before they get some freedom.

Random Fridays

Sorry for no post yesterday. It is so cold and mom wasn't feeling too motivated.

You know the Thundering Herd of Elephants game? Mom is going to start calling it the Thundering Herd of Daiquiri. That girl will chase anyone around the house. Most willing participant is Junior, but Ivy and Tim will play along as well. Mozart will get chased, but isn't that thrilled with it. There were comments Wednesday about her having no fear - she really doesn't seem to (of course except for that Petco adventure). She won't back down from any cat here. Junior on the other hand has always been good with kittens, so he is pretty good about being careful with her. He gets a little carried away sometimes but will stop when mom yells or if Daiquiri whaps him one. It is interesting how well he does with Daiquiri and the other kittens we have had and yet can be such a jerk with Ivy and Spud.

It is supposed to be in the 40s here this weekend. While this won't get us open windows, at least it won't be so danged cold for our feral kitties.

not really wordless Wednesday

There was an epic battle for the cat ladder

I sees him down there

gotcha!!

no no - my level - go back orange menace

crap - he's still down there

call me a menace will you?? brat

Mom loves how much Daiquiri interacts with Junior. She will chase him around the house, stalk him down the halls and plays with him like mad.

snow and the kitten bowl

Every one in a while Daiquiri will pay attention to the TV. The Kitten Bowl on Sunday caught her attention and held it for a while.

We got some snow Saturday night into Sunday.

Daiquiri stood on the tree and watched it fall....

We posted a picture on facebook and Miss Connie suggested Daiquiri check out the snow

So mom opened the balcony door
 huh - what's that stuff??

should I go out??

She was pretty brave. Mom didn't think she would like being out there. She was only out a couple of minutes cause it was cold, but mom had to resort to treats to get her back inside. She sure was curious....
