Random Fridays

First, thanks for all the well wishes for Jade. Mom wasn't "freaking out" worried but was worried some and it was good to hear the news!

And here is some other good news:

Cinco GOT ADOPTED!!!!

She went home last night. Mom doesn't know too many details, but she got the meet the mom and daughter and gave them one of her cards, so hopefully we will get an update. And it seems they are well aware she can be a bit of a brat - the vaccinated her one last time and she blew a fuse and bit the mom. And they took her anyhow. :)

Mica has an application too. Mom got to meet the very nice lady and if it were up to her she would send him home. She did leave a note with her "stamp of approval". She has a 2 year old female Siamese mix at home and is looking for a laid back male. Mom assured her that Mica is that guy.

Quartz and Jet are doing much better. They have gotten to the jumpy kitten stage so there are some shanigans going on in baby jail most of the time.

And we promised pictures of the new guys: meet Calvin (the orange) and Winston (the black).

Winston's eye is pretty ugly (don't look too close) but the meds have already made a difference in a couple of days. So hopefully by next week they will be feeling much better.

weekend update

It started Thursday night. Mom was taking pictures of the kittens. Ash was on top of the cat tree taking a bath and when mom tapped him on the head to get his attention she discovered an open wound (about 1/2 inch in diameter) where his leg meets his belly. After a moment of panic, she got in touch with the vet and off they went. It took 40 MINUTES to knock him out. He seems to have an amazing tolerance for drugs. The vet finally resorted to the gas mask. And now he is known as Captain Dingbat....and has 4 stitches. sheesh....  So he is here on the "injured reserve" list until he gets them out the end of the week.

Friday was pretty quiet around here. Mom did some laundry and cleaning and that was about it.

Coral is still here for a while. But the other afternoon she and mom took a nap together.

 Pearl has a home!!!  She will be traveling to Michigan this Saturday. Thanks to Miss Connie who posted her picture on facebook and that is how her new mom found her.

 Since Topaz had to be separated due to his test results, mom set up baby jail in the living room for Quartz and Jet. They have some snot but seem to be unfazed by the change in surroundings.

 Speaking of Topaz, mom's friend Miss Alyssa (who took the orange boy this spring) had kittens test positive for FeLV as well. She and mom went back and forth about how to foster the kittens. Miss Alyssa has a larger room, but she said she would take Topaz (who needs some friends - he is a lonely boy and it made him howl). Now they will all be retested every 4 weeks until they get to 5 months old. Hopefully they can all throw it.

Jade goes tomorrow to be spayed. YAY!!!  We know she will be glad to retire as a momma cat.

Amber, Cinco and Mica moved up to the adoption center on Sunday. It was fun having them here and they are on Petfinder, but we know that it will be faster to get them adopted when someone walks in and sees them in person.

The banging Friday night wasn't so bad except for the HUGE finale. Tim went under the bed. The kittens kind of freaked out when it started but calmed down when they realized no one else was freaking out.

The girls went to Petco on Saturday morning after mom sent home Tommy Lee Jones (a big black male kitty - going home with a nice new mom and dad, a 12 year old girl kitty and two dogs). Mom figured the girls would go quick, but people must be on vacation cause as of Monday morning, no applications.....

Cinco is fuzzy and sweet. You can love on her and then she is off to play. She would be fine by herself but certainly seems like she would love a friend to play with.

Cora was born to a mom that had been live trapped. Her mom Sugar is super sweet and not feral, so she will be available for adoption once she is spayed. Cora is a little shy but curious about what is going on around her.

Opt to Adopt - Cinco

This little cutie is Cinco. She was found by herself in a condo parking lot and brought to the rescue on May 5th (hence the name someone else gave her).

She is an adorable long hair silver and black kitten - and BOUNCY!!  We hope she will be big enough to be spayed this week (appointment made for Thursday), but if not she will be ready to go next week for sure. She is super sweet and lovey but ready to play like mad.

Mom saw her at the adoption center on Saturday and the weight on her cage card made mom think she was smaller and would be a good fit with the kittens already here. Turns out she is MUCH bigger (by over 1/2 pound). So she is set up in the play pen in the living room. She went to an adoption event last weekend with mom and 4 of Jade's kittens and while she played a little rough at first, she settled down some and by the end, Ash and Mica were using her for a pillow. She reminds us of Emma the dust bunny too....serious cuteness.
