Yep - mom got to send her home last night with her new family.  Concats sweet girl!!

Cass is going home with a mom and a sweet 15 year old girl who already bought Cass a purple collar. She is going to live with a dog....mom asked about it to be sure about introductions. We know she will be fine - they have a miniature dachshund (just don't tell Sir Thomas over at The Cult of Otis)

Opt to Adopt - Cassidy

We know we have had her here before, but wanted to get her out there again. She had been in one of the local Petco stores. However, her stress level was going up....she could be out if she wanted but would disappear to the back of the store.

Mom picked her up on Saturday and brought her back here. She didn't like it much but was ok all things considered.

After talking to the head of the rescue, it was decided to send her out to a Petsmart location. We know what you are thinking - what's the difference?? The biggest difference is that Cass can't get out of the room with the adoption cages - and people can't be sticking their fingers in to annoy her. Win-win.

getting ready to leave (with the kitten inspection being done)

complaining about the move (just kidding)

All set up and checking out her new apartment. She would be best in a quiet home that is going to give her time to adjust...she did ok here overnight - especially since we didn't have a place to separate her. She was nervous, but by Sunday morning was out and about. She did some name calling with the boys but otherwise seemed fine with everything. She is 2 years old, spayed and up to date on shots.

weekend report

Cassidy went with mom to an adoption event on Saturday. We hope her forever family finds her quick.

After speaking to her friend Miss Beckie, Cass stayed at the store, and mom brought home these:
There are actually 4 of them. 2 boys and 2 girls. They were left at our rescue vet's office almost 2 weeks ago in a carrier. Whoever dropped them off knew about the security camera as they walked down the side of the building to avoid it. However, regardless of whomever dropped them off, they are safe with us. Miss Beckie had taken them but she was asked by the rescue to take some tiny kittens that are having a rough time. So they are with us now until they get bigger.

The alcohol kittens are doing well and gaining weight. And as you can see....someone made a jail break. Sangria has gotten to where she can climb the gate outside the bathroom door. Fortunately she generally stays inside the bathroom with her siblings.

Random Fridays

Thanks for all the well wishes for Coral. She has been eating much better and actually got up and slept on the bed the last couple of night, which she hasn't done in over a week. No results from the v-e-t yet... hoping for those today.

Mom plans to take Cassidy with her to an adoption event on Saturday. The kittens aren't ready to go yet. Cass on the other hand is feeling pretty lively and in fact can jump the white baby jail gate (who knew). And she has made it known that she did her part but would like to now be done with those kittens. MOL

Speaking of kittens, how about some weights:
  Stoli: 1 pound 8 ounces
Sangria: 1 pound 9 ounces (mom was surprised)
  Daiquiri: 1 pound 1 ounce
  Kahlua: 1 pound

Our Sunshine girl is doing well in her new home. She has made friends with a short hair black male named Blackie who is about her age. Her new mom says there is one cat in the house who isn't happy with Sunshine yet, but that she has settled in and seem comfortable.  :)

We hope you have a great weekend. It is supposed to be MUCH cooler and rainy here.

wordy Wednesday

We know you were wondering on Monday.....why did the orange kittens move??

Well....we have newbies in the bathroom:

The mom cat was left at the adoption center. A woman had found her and despite the rescue trying to get her spayed and cared for, the woman resisted. Until the mom cat showed up VERY pregnant. Unfortunately, she was malnourished and the kittens didn't survive. She was spayed and being cared for by the rescue. The lady did say she didn't think the cat was walking on her right back leg. The clinic gave her the once over and didn't feel any breaks. We are going to keep an eye on her and see if some rest helps.

In the meantime, 4 kittens were left alone in a box at the local humane society after closing. They were anemic and covered in fleas. No mom in sight. Their fate was not going to be good. One died that same night.

But....the other three were introduced to the calico mom and it was love.

In fact, when mom got here and set them up, she got the mom cat out of the carrier first and she threw a fit until all the kittens were out. MOL  Mom was a little worried about the tiny girl, but everyone is doing very well. Mom is keeping them close. And when mom put out canned food for mom on Sunday morning, all three kittens tried it.

While they may not have been born to her, mom is taking VERY good care of these kittens....making up for those she lost. We have 2 girls and 1 boy. Two are black and white - what the kid (mom's niece) calls "moo kittens". We thought the other girl was too, but she is starting to show some brown stripes along the edges of the black.

Unfortunately, the tiniest black and white girl started going down hill and despite the best efforts of mom and the rescue, she didn't survive. We tried Julep - and you were loved no matter how long you were here.

Mom is now known as Cass. (mom was jokingly calling her "Hop-a-long Cassidy" and it stuck)

And Sunday evening mom got a call from our friend Miss Beckie....seems some teenagers found a week old kitten and thought it would be easy - bring it inside and viola. Right....  Anyhow, Miss Beckie knew about Cass (she was the one who rescued the moo kittens) and so the tiny came over to our house. Cass took her right away. Mom is keeping an eye on everyone as the new girl is younger and smaller than the other kittens, but it is all good. The new girl is a brown and white tabby - with a white stripe down her spine.

And it is that time of year again (might as well make it a tradition). So please help us welcome the third annual alcohol kitten crew.

The little boy (the mainly black one in the upper picture) is Stoli. His sister is Sangria. And the newest tiny girl is Daiquiri.
