Almost a year ago (part one).....

First - yep, the kittens have calici. Antibiotics and other meds to help and just keeping them eating and comfortable.....  sigh
~~~~~~~~~~~~
So on Friday we promised you an adoption update....
Rather than make this REALLY long, it will be in two parts.
About a year ago, we got a note about kittens being born near our condo.
Allie (the mom cat) was spayed and caged with her kittens to get them bigger. Once that happened, the kittens came upstairs to stay until they could be spayed/neutered and adopted.
Along the way we lost two of them: Cognac and Amaretto ran for the Bridge while here. We are sending them kisses and know they will get them.....
Gin was adopted by a family with 3 kids. Mom wasn't sure about that one but the mom comes into the Petco store and says she is doing great. Named Mulberry she loves the kids - and does jump on the mom when she is cooking. :)
Whiskey - now Tucker - was adopted pretty quickly. His new mom and dad are a retired couple and keep mom updated on him all the time. They even sent a picture to mom of Tucker and his sister Cleo celebrating their birthdays.
Last Friday after work mom stopped by and got to see Tucker in person. He is a very handsome mancat. He is a little shy around new people but his mom Judy says he is a total lap cat with her.
Random Fridays......
Mom found a new website: Micro Chip Lookup  It is a universal lookup site where you can enter any chip number and it will give you the company information so you can contact them for owner information. Tell your rescues about this.....
There is an auction being schedule to help Sallie the Romance Puppy.
If anyone has anything, they can email a picture of the item, a short description and a suggested started bid to Marg. margaretmsan@gmail.com
We have good adoption news......Judy went home on Monday with her new moms. They have two dogs (ages 12 and 6) and are going to give her all the time to adjust. And Nurdle went home on Wednesday night with a very nice young couple.
Judy's new mom called our mom on Wednesday night. Judy's new name is Smudge and she is doing very well. She has had one meeting with the dogs - not so bad - she gave them the halloween cat routine but the dogs were on leashes so she was fine. They are going to work with everyone more over the weekend but are committed to making it work. YEAH - we love those kind of adopters. :)
 Judy and Nurdle.....just awwwww
Gin and Maxine at Petco - Max is still looking for her home
Mom gets emails from Tucker (former known as Whiskey) about how he is doing. And she had asked mom a few times about Gin. Mom emailed her earlier in the week to let her know that Gin had been adopted.....and she sent us this picture of Tucker (apparently that bed used to belong to his big brother):
Allie the momma cat (before her release)
Mom here: I have a story to share from the other morning. Let me start out by saying this - I love my Dad. He doesn't always "get" what I am doing with rescue, but I love him.
He and my mom are trying to buy a piece of property and I am faxing the documents back and forth for them. Dad called Wednesday night and said he had one more thing and he would bring it over Thursday morning. He called when he was close and since I was ready to leave for work, I headed down to the garage. My normal routine is to open the door into the garage, yell good morning to Allie (our feral momma cat to the alcohol kittens) and then open the garage door (then feed her and leave). When the door went up, she was sitting in the middle of the driveway - which is pretty typical. I tied my shoes and told her she needed to move since Dad was coming.
She back up to the sidewalk when he pulled his truck around. We spoke for a couple of minutes and then I stuck my head around the front of the truck to be sure where Allie was before he drove off. I told him it was ok to go cause the feral I care for was sitting on the sidewalk. Dad looked out the window of the truck at her, looked back and me and said "I thought it was a cat."
ummmmmm, yeah. Without laughing (though I couldn't get the grin off my face), I explained that cat is her species and feral is her temperment and that across the drive was as close as we got but that I care for her. And then of course there was the obligatory "dad lecture" about making sure not to leave the garage door open too far.
Adoption updates.....
It is always an adventure around here.....today, once again, mom is starting on another adventure with Miss Chrystal. Check out Daily dose of dogs for the newest one....
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

We know you love hearing about our adoptions, and thought we would share some updates.

From Whiskey's new mom and dad:
"I thought you would like an update on Whiskey. First of all, thank you for doing such a great job socializing him! He is without a doubt just the sweetest kitten ever! We are amazed at his non-stop purr. He loves to be held and falls asleep in anyone’s lap. He is so busy! We love playing with him and watching him . He is not afraid of anything, even our older cat who so far keeps hissing at him. He just looks at her as if to say “so what’s wrong with you???”. (We think Callie will eventually get tired of the hissing-bit. She is very curious about the kitten and watches everything he does.) Well, just thought you would like to know your kitten is doing fine and we really love him. And I hope you don’t mind, but we changed his name to Marley. It was a big debate between Marley and Moki, but Marley won."
      Concats Whiskey/Marley - you got a great new family. :)

Doc update:
"Hi,    We will have to send you some pictures.  He is a awesome addition to our family.  A little on the rotten side but he is my sons best friend.   No concerns at all.    Actually him being Deaf helped, he doesn't seem scared of anything.   We did have a little issue where he jumped on top of my daughters dresser and drug away one of her feather ear rings but it turned up under our bed a little soggy.  :)"

thankful thursday.....

Spud says thanks for all the well wishes yesterday. He got some treats and mom kissed him - whether he liked it or not!!

Today we are thankful for.....
Adopters!!!

Whiskey was adopted and went home last night with his new mom and dad. They are a retired couple and he will have a 12 year old brother. The couple has always had two cats and had one run for the Bridge a few months ago. Whiskey had been at Petco Sunday and Monday and they saw him Monday morning. His new mom said he was just so calm and sweet that she knew he was the one. :) Mom couldn't get over to do his adoption until last night, but to make it easier for everyone, she brought him home Monday night so we got to spend a couple more days with him.

With the girls in the bathroom, the alcohol kittens have been out all night. Yesterday morning, the kittens were up on the bed about 10 minutes before the alarm went off. Mom said it was kind of like a combination of wrestling, nascar and demolition derby. Yep - even Bourbon was up there. Mom said it was fun enough that she would have laid there even longer except she had to get up to go to work.

So today we send purrs to Whiskey's new family.

walk my cat.....

Quick Amaretto update: she isn't eating much, but still walking around some when mom lets her out. Mom has taken to syringe feeding her KMR and NutriCal in the hopes that it will help some. At least we know she is getting something into her. Mom did get more worried and just for her peace of mind took her to the v-e-t for a quick check (under the term better safe than sorry). It appears the Clavamox is working as the vet checked all the abscesses (even the liver ones - mom likes it when the vets are curious cause they check things but don't charge her) and all of them appear to be smaller. But, Amaretto is anemic and we aren't sure what to do about that. They did get a preliminary report from the lab - something is growing. Really - they typed up a report and faxed it for that??? Mom hopes they can be more definitive today. Oh- and someone asked if the abscesses were lanced - they were on Friday night at the vet and left open so mom can clean them. That being said, the vet last night said that it may required divine intervention in this case - Amaretto is just so tiny. We appreciate your prayers and purrs - please keep sending them!!

In other news, we just heard that K and Alex both ran for the Bridge. We have been purring for them and their families for a while and we have some serious leaky eyes here. We are sending our purrs for them and know that both K and Alex are healthy and running free now.

Mom put Doc on a leash.....

The kid had a lemonade stand on Friday and part of the proceeds went to buy supplies for the shelter. Mom went over and took Doc. Cause he wiggles, she put a harness and leash on him. He didn't seem to mind and actually had a great time outside.

And then Sunday, Mom took Doc, Whiskey and Gin to Petco. Doc got bored and LAUNCHED himself at baby gate....and got over (which he hasn't done since at home - goofy boy). Great - so much for that. Mom put him back in and yet once he figured it out, it was all over, so he got to wear the harness and leash at Petco as well.
