Daiquiri wishes you a nice weekend - warm but not too warm with open windows.

The design kittens had their spay and neuter surgery on Tuesday. Mom went to pick them up and had to hang around for about 20 minutes as Dior wasn't coming out of the anesthesia as quick as they would like. Her temperature was fine, but she was pretty out of it. Mom took her home in a carrier by herself (the other 4 kittens traveled together in a larger carrier) and left her in the carrier for a couple of hours to sleep off the meds. She came around well, but was a pretty mean drunk as she growled at her siblings the rest of the evening. Versace and Armani discovered the kittens in the sliding door (their reflections) when mom turned on the lights to check on them and freaked out putting on their stranger danger suits.
Here is the other news: Dior has an umbilical hernia. Mom never noticed it. Which isn't a big deal. However, the clinic didn't notice it either until AFTER her surgery. (argh) They said normally they would keep her overnight and fix it the next day, but considering her age and size and reaction to the drugs, mom opted to take her home and Dior will have it fixed in a couple of weeks.

How could they not notice it? Isn't it their JOB to notice these things??
ReplyDeleteseriously....mom said that too (grrr)
DeleteHave to agree with Whiskeratti. Do techs do this job too?
ReplyDeleteOpen window weather is luscious, Daiquiri! Hope Dior shakes off the wobblies!
ReplyDeleteWell that is too bad they didn't notice the hernia. Darn vets. Hope Dior is feeling better now.
ReplyDeleteCrossing paws that Dior's hernia anesthesia is less eventful!
ReplyDeleteIt is so hard to watch them have a hard time with sedation. I mean normal sedation drunk kitties are funny, but when they really struggle..
ReplyDeleteSo, do you have heat coming out of that register in the winter?
she was funny once it wore off enough that she could get around. And yes, there is warm air out of that vent in the winter, cold air in the summer :)
DeleteUgh about the hernia! My human actually had a kitten once with a hernia (she was very young, grade school age - my human, not the kitten!), but it eventually corrected itself (the vet at the time said to leave it).
ReplyDeletePOOR Dior! We hope the return visit goes uneventfully.
ReplyDeleteHope Dior has an easier time wif da anesthesia next time.
ReplyDeleteThose kittens are a force to be reckoned with! Poor Dior ... we hope she's back to her glorious self.
ReplyDeletePoor little Dior ! We hope she feels better soon. Purrs
ReplyDeletePurrayers for Dior - glad all the others sailed through.

Noodle and crew
Our MacKenzie had an umbilical hernia when we got him. It is a shame it is Dior as she was the one having trouble coming around after her spay. We cannot believe one little spring toy garnered so much attention. XOCK, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Angel Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth, Calista Jo and Cooper Murphy
