that face kills mom
We know that a lot of you were beginning to think that Dandelion was going to become a permanent resident. Honestly, if circumstances were a little different here, that might have happened. But mom reminds herself that she has to know us and know her limits and this would have been WAY over the limit.
After discovering that Dandelion wasn't on Petfinder, she got his information updated. Shortly thereafter, she got an application. She reviewed all the information and they emailed back and forth a few times - talking about his attitude (or general lack thereof) and his medical background. The couple that put in the application have an older female (about 15) and an 8 month old boy (who is driving her insane). Little Bit was raised from a kitten and Rocky was found when he was tiny. Since he didn't have any siblings, he is a bit of a doofus and Little Bit is not having it. D and J decided that Rocky needs a friend who was tolerant but would also be very respectful of Little Bit.
Monday night mom took Dandelion with her to the store while she was cleaning and then met with D and J. Mom was sitting on the floor with Dandelion when they came in and after introductions, they sat down with her. Dandelion almost immediately crawled off of mom's lap and into D's lap. He stayed there for a while and then climbed into J's lap as well. There were a few kids in the store and he was great with them as well. Mom and D and J did the paperwork but they decided to wait a couple of days to take him home. They wanted to get a space set up specifically for him and they also brought a cloth that they rubbed all over him (and he LOVED that) to give to Little Bit since ultimately it is going to be her decision if he stays. D and J are committed to keeping him but obviously the old lady cat gets first vote. Mom says she is sure it will be fine as he is so respectful of everyone here.
So last night she packed up the big orange boy along with a care package of his meds and some treats and toys and sent him off to his new home. She did make them aware that she wants updates - LOTS of updates - and we will keep you posted on his progress as well.
Just in time for his birthday, our Dandelion boy found his forever home.
*from the mom: this one, as you can all imagine, was a hard one. trust me when I say that if I had ANY doubts about this couple, he wouldn't be leaving. the fact that he climbed right in their laps within a few minutes of meeting them and was SO completely relaxed sealed the deal for me. I knew he deserves a home of his own without the chaos that comes with living here. but wow am I going to miss him.
Wow!!!! We have our paws crossed that Dandelion will fit in and that their senior girl won't have any issues with him (that would be sever enough to warrant returning Dandelion).ReplyDelete
But, yes, we kinda figured Dandelion just might become a permanent resident.
We're thrilled for him, purray this works out better than hoped for, and hope he has a long and happy life in a true forever home.
Lovely Dandelion has found a home, and I hope all goes well. The kittens are so adorable.ReplyDelete
What wonderful news to end the week!ReplyDelete
Happy Birthday Dandelion and congrats to his people.ReplyDelete

thanks :) it was weird around the house last night - and he usually follows mom down the stairs in the morning on her way to work and she looked for him :)Delete
Happy Gotcha Day and Birthday to little Dandelion! We wish many happy years to the little one and hope the old timer tolerates Dandelion :)ReplyDelete
Oh that makes me a little sad that Dandelion has left but it does sound like a great home for him.Glad you are going to get updates. Thanks for taking such good care of him.ReplyDelete
Hurrah for Dandelion - but how he must be holding your mum's heart in his paws even in his absence. That third photograph will be an image that I'd always want to see.ReplyDelete
What fantastic news!!!! Congrats to Dandelion - he's such a special kit-cat! Sending prayers that the other kitties accept him!ReplyDelete
Oh, sweet Dandelion, congratulations on finding your forever home. We hope you love it there and become the very best orange boy you can be. Kisses to you!ReplyDelete

OMC, this is the day I've been WAITING for! Congratulations to Dandelion's new family!ReplyDelete
Yay for Dandelion!!! That boy's been through so much. As much as I had a total crush on him, our vet has told me it's probably best for Bear to be an only. Hopefully D and J will continue what you started of showing Dandelion the love every cat deserves :)ReplyDelete

Yes, we CAN imagine! We are really going to miss that Dandy boy too!!!! But we hope he will have a wonderful life with his new family.ReplyDelete
We can imagine it's hard for you ! What wonderful news for Dandelion ! PurrsReplyDelete
I can only imagine how hard it must be when a particular cat just takes your heart away with them. His face is precious to me as well. If I didn't have Katie I would have said by now, bring him with you and he can be a treasure here with me. I would not change his name either. It is unique and just for him. Good fortune, Dandelion. May you feel love every day of the rest of your life.ReplyDelete
Oh yay!! We are so happy Dandelion found his forever family. Even if he was starting to become one of your family, we know you're happy for him.ReplyDelete
We are so happy for Dandelion!ReplyDelete
Have a super weekend...

Congratulation to Dandelion! Sounds like he went to a great home who knew exactly what they were looking for.ReplyDelete
