There was a breakthrough of sorts the other night....
Mom fed the kittens the other night (she sits on the floor and puts the tray right next to her so they have to come close to eat). After dinner they all run around like lunatics. Sumac then crashed and was snoozing on the cat bed about a foot from mom. Not being able to resist the opportunity, mom reached over and stroked Sumac. No reaction.... she did it again... still nothing. Mom continued to pet Sumac until - SHE PURRED! Mom got to pet her for quite a while before Sumac got up and left. Sumac is going to need a family that is going to give her lots of time and patience, but YAY for progress.

We hope you all have a great weekend. It is back to the HOTS and HUMIDS here, so no open windows for a while. Of course, that means cold air blows through the floor vents, so lucky us. Please keep cool water available outside (not in metal dishes) for those animals that could use a cool drink.

Hurrah for progress indeed! What a little darling. :-)
ReplyDeleteHot and humid here too, we need a break -- and we desperately need rain!
Purrs for a good weekend for all.
Yay for the purr! Hopefully it's just the start and soon she'll be begging for pets!
ReplyDeleteSo good to hear that Sumac is coming around. Sweet girl!
ReplyDeleteHave a good weekend.
Yay for Sumac. Bet she will be back for more of that attention. Have a good week end.
ReplyDeleteThat is good news indeed. Sumac at last discovered that being touched isn't such a bad thing.
ReplyDeleteGlad you've made progress with Sumac! Water outside for animals is a must in this sticky, hot weather...we use ceramic bowls placed in the shade.
ReplyDeleteYippee, sweet Sumac! Thank you for the water tip! We keep an ant-free bowl out and full of water year around, with a heavy rock in the center to keep it from blowing away and also so any visiting frogs who decide that's a perfect swimming pool can get out. (We change the water often so no outside kitties get froggy water.)
ReplyDeletePaws up for Sumac!
ReplyDeleteYAY, Sumac!!! That is awesome!
ReplyDeleteCammie!
What great news!
ReplyDeleteWonderful progress! Thanks for the reminder to put water outside!
ReplyDeleteyea for Sumac! Purrs win the day over scareds but it does take patience!
ReplyDeleteThat's great for Sumac!
ReplyDeleteAwwww...Sumac knew that human law was a kind one
ReplyDeleteThere is nothing like hearing that first purr. :)
ReplyDeleteAwww... one small paw step toward victory! Happy Sunday from Deb and the Zee/Zoey kitties!
