Chex and Milano....

Those of you who have been reading this blog for a while will remember the snack kittens who came here in March of this year. In fact, if you attended Blog Paws, you may have gotten to meet Triscuit.

Well a couple of weeks ago, mom got an email from the woman and family that adopted Chex and Milano. It seems their son (who is about 7 years old) developed some pretty serious allergies. They had tried lots of things but none of them were working. The whole family was devastated and wanted some suggestions. Mom has allergies and gave them some ideas, but it seems the little boy was having some bad reactions - in fact he would break out in hives if one of the kittens licked him.

So mom made arrangements for them the come back and we will get them up on Petfinder and to the Petco store when there is space and when they are ready. Right now they are in the bathroom and adjusting. Chex is pretty outgoing and happy to see mom. Milano spent most of Saturday hissing at mom every time she walked in the room (which is ok and understandable). They haven't been out to meet us yet, but they have to know we are out here as mom has seen both Amelia and Ivy sleeping outside the door. But there is no rush.....  And as of yesterday morning, both kittens were greeting mom and making all lovey with her. Chex got out of the bathroom and headed towards us with no name-calling, so mom said she is going to see about letting them out for a little bit.

Mom said she barely made it through it all without crying. She could tell the woman was very upset. And it seems the kittens were pretty popular in the neighborhood - and their son and the neighbor kids all had a party Friday night to tell the kittens goodbye. That did it.....mom almost lost it. She did ask if they wanted to be kept up to date. The woman said she and her husband had talked about that and really weren't sure. But she said email her and they can always decide later what, if anything to tell their son.

So, welcome back Chex and Milano. We are so very sorry it didn't work out. But you were very loved and are missed....and we will do our very best to find you another wonderful home (the family said they will be talking to people too).

 Chex

Milano

Mom did say that she doesn't remember Cookie being very big....so their daddy must have been a big boy. Milano is probably average size, but that Chex boy is a moose.  :)  And Chex is pretty hard to get a picture of as well.....he spends a lot of time rubbing against mom looking for love. Milano is a little bit shyer but is coming around. It is a lot of change for them.

  5. Chex snuck out of the bathroom last night - got a good look at a couple of adults and decided the great wide open wasn't for him. His sister Milano just sits on the bathroom counter and looks....no way is she coming out any time soon. MOL But they are super sweet with mom.

  6. Such a sad situation. It's hard when the adopters love the cat but have to consider another family member's well-being. We hope that Chex and Milano find wonderful new homes soon.

  13. It is a little bit sad for the kitties and the humans who had to not keep them :-(

My human has slight allergies, apparently to accumulation of dust and cat hair. It is nothing too serious but can make her sneeze and cry non-stop for a couple hours.
She is using homeopathy. The remedy is called "poumon histamine" and deals with respiratory (especially) and skin (partially) allergies. My human still has some from France and doesn't use it much but when she does, the sneezing and everything usually stops in a few minutes.
I'm not sure whether it is available in the US (it seems to be in Canada: http://well.ca/products/boiron-poumon-histamine-30ch-single_73361.html) but with access to a Homeopathic practitioner, it could be worth the try (of course, especially with homeopathy, treatments depend on many factors so seeing a doctor first is better - am I not a smart kitty? ;-)

Anyway, we thought we'd share because I know my human would be very very sad if she could not live with kitties, so if this can help someone...

    1. they did....it is frustrating when you get returns and know that people didn't even make an effort. but this family tried so very hard to make it work....but the boys allergies were getting worse and something had to change. :(

  20. Kinda sad that the kittens had to lose their home, but at least the beans really tried. (at least it wasn't something like the kittie didn't match the new drapes)

Comforting purrrrrrss to the family, as well. Maybe they can try again in a while, once the kid bean is a little older.

  22. This is so sad, but at least the humans who had adopted Chex and Milano were responsible and returned then and didn't just dump them on the street. Mom used to get that same reaction when one of the dogs that came before any of us liked her. We do pray all turns out well for them when they must return to Petco. Purrs and hugs, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo
