Mom had plans for yesterday. Get up, do more laundry and head to Petco for their adoption weekend.
When she got up, Cognac was acting funny. Now, everyone was out yesterday and acting fine. Everyone ate last night. She tried to syringe feed him but he fought her pretty much. Mom got some water and some a/d into him - as much as possible.
She packed up Doc, Bourbon and Whiskey and headed out.
Ashley was adopted (YEAH) but the same family that adopted a kitten from the rescue last fall. The mom fell in love with Ashley yesterday (Ashley is 4 years old and has been with the rescue since she was a tiny kitten) and decided she had to take her home.
Since that emptied a cage, mom ran home and grabbed Sally so that Doc and Sally could stay at Petco looking for their forever homes. Cognac was laying down but seemed ok.
The kid joined mom at Petco. When they were done, they packed up Bourbon and Whiskey and headed home. Mom went into the bathroom....and Cognac had run for the Bridge. Mom took him to the v-e-t where Bear is. She checked on him while she was there. Bear is ok - but not great. And seemingly not getting better.
So, we have the sads. And mom is worried that maybe there is something in the house that is causing all of this. She and Miss Beckie agreed that Doc and Sally needed to come back here just in case, so mom picked them up and brought them back here.
Please be thinking about everyone here while we figure this out.
RIP Cognac - we know your sister Amaretto was waiting to greet you when you crossed Rainbow Bridge

So, so sorry to hear about little Cognac! Run free, baby!
ReplyDeleteJeanne, we're so sorry Cognac passed. You *know* sometimes there's just nothing that can be done, that something's amiss genetically or whathaveyou. We can't imagine what could be running rampant through your house that would cause this.
ReplyDeleteSending purrs and hugs. Definitely a sad time.
I am so so so sorry about your baby. It's so hard when they pass away from us and their precious life is so short. But Cognac and Amaretto will be playing always and I hope they find Admiral and she looks over them and shows them all the fun places. XXOO

ReplyDeleteWe send love and warm thoughts your way...this is so hard. xx
We are so sorry to hear about Cognac. We hope that the others are okay and pull through. Big purrs from us.
ReplyDeleteSometimes with feral kitties the poor mom has just had too many litters and it just causes the kittens to be sickly. It's very sad but you certainly loved little Cognac for his time on this Earth.
ReplyDelete*tears*
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry to read about Cognac... little kittens are sometimes a mystery: one minute they are fine, the next they are gone. We lost quite a few this year and every time our heart aches and wonders what went wrong:(
ReplyDeleteOh no, we are so sorry about Cognac. I hope the vet can somehow figure out what is happening to these kittens. I just cannot believe it is anything in your house or that you are doing. They must be born with something that just eventually takes them away. So sorry Jeanne. We are sending tons of purrs to the rest of the kittens.
ReplyDeleteI am so very sorry about dear sweet Cognac. Hugs and purrs.
ReplyDeleteOh no. :-( Sweet Cognac! We are so sorry. Take care

So sad for Cognac!
ReplyDeleteI have the sads too, so sad. Little Cognac is now free to romp with Amaretto. Certainly can understand your concern about the what's causing the problems, I hope there is some way that can be checked out to put your mind at ease.
ReplyDeleteWe were very sad to read about Cognac. We know you tried your very best for her.
ReplyDeletePurrs,
The Chans
We are so sad to hear about Cognac! Sending lots of love to you today.
ReplyDeleteWe are sorry to hear about Cognac running to the bridge so unexpectedly like that. We don't want you beating yourself up over it though. Some times there is just some things that don't come together genetically and carries young life away. Why? We'll never know. That's the big unanswerable question. But we DO know that both those kitties knew love and that you did your very best for them!
ReplyDeleteHugs and love,
LP and the critters in the cottage xo
So sorry to hear about Cognac :( Poor baby. I'm sure it must make your work difficult but knowing you've provided love and care to a kitten who would otherwise have had none should bring some small solace.
ReplyDeleteTake care!
