Everyone is doing pretty well. Mom is a little worried about Maestro - he turned 16 in September and mom wasn't sure he was going to make it past Christmas. However, he rallied and was doing much better. Over the weekend, he ate some but not too much and seemed a little lethargic. He didn't sleep with mom Friday and Saturday night either. However, he ate more yesterday and was up on the bed last night. Mom isn't going to panic and call the v-e-t yet since she is pretty sure it is old age - last time Dr. Taylor said his kidney numbers were down, but mom said she isn't going to put him through a lot of tests....she figures what does it really prove. So, they agreed to keep him comfortable and go from there. He still seems ok, so mom is taking it one day at a time with him for now.
Swizzle and the kittens are doing well also. Everyone is eating well and the kittens have started to play more (though mom could do without them putting the bitey on her).
still pretty skinny....but making progress

We send lots of purrs to that dear Maestro. Swizzle and the little ones are so adorable!
ReplyDeleteI know what you are going through with your old cat -- my Fuzz turned 16 in March and he has his good days and his bad days.
ReplyDeleteI'm also determined to avoid taking him to the vet's since it's likely to be just stressful and, as you write, what does it really prove?
I think I've accepted that he will die soon, but I bet it will hit me like a ton of bricks when he goes...
Too bad our little furball loves can't last longer. So, my sympathies and take comfort in the obvious fact that you gave Maestro a good life!
Everykitty is looking so good! Please give Maestro my best!

Hang in there Maestro-may your remaining days on earth be sweet. The kittens look adorable.Great that you were able to relax a bit over the weekend :)

Sounds like a good plan for Maestro. When they get old it's best just to make sure they are happy for as long as possible! Good news that Swizzle has improved :-)
ReplyDeleteI think as long as Maestro is eating and doesn't seem to be uncomfortable, I sure wouldn't take him to the vet. I have an older cat here, and she is very thin and has the thyroid thing, and also IBD, but she keeps on eating and wanders around the yard a little bit, so I figure she is enjoying life. I always tell myself, to wait one more day to go to the vet. Take care and have a great day.
ReplyDeleteWe are purraying for Maestro.....it is so difficult to see our darlins' get to advanced ages!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteThe younguns' are looking fantastic!!!!!!!! We also continue to purray for Swizzle.

Purrs for Maestro, our two oldsters have their good and bad days too. Mommy thinks that they are creaky in their bones. We had a kitty with CRF and he stayed happy until the last week, and then he went downhill pretty quick. Maestro looks bright eyed and bushy tailed yet!
ReplyDeleteAwww sweet Maestro! Me and Charlie are sending him tons of purrs and prayers!! What a cutie!!
ReplyDeleteGreat to read that Swizzle is doing just fine! Awww but her babies are too ADORABLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Awwwwwww!! Take care
