Random Fridays

Mom is slowing learning a few things about Bissell. She is still weird about hands and those cats outside the kitten doors. However, she must have lived in a house before since she KNOWS what a bag of treats means. And...she is very food motivated. Chanel was standing outside the foster doors and Bissell got "the look". But mom shook the treat bag and Bissell was all "oooo....cookies". Mom did get Bissell's nails trimmed. YAY!!! For a momma cat, she is a little weird. The kittens can scream about being lonely or held or whatever and she doesn't seem to get wound up. One sign of a cat on the other sign of those doors though and it is game on.

We have teeth coming in, so mom is going to make sure there are baby litter boxes and plenty of food available. Kittens that are nursing seem to take longer to decide they want to eat on their own so they will start when they get motivated. Bissell is spending more and more time outside of the box and away from the kittens, so it is definitely time for them to start learning.

  1. They are so darn cute. Maybe Bissell will be better when the kittens are weaned. As you know, it just takes time and patience. Have a great day.

  2. Oh squee! That little Tabby is becoming my doppleganger more and more every day! How sad that Bissell must have been an indoor cat once. Why can't people spay and neuter their cat?

  5. oh my!! Who is the tabby in the center of the photos? She is the spitting image of my Angel Bobo...does she have 4 white paws? Thank COD I don't live by you.........if I did......I am afraid I would want to adopt her and my Vet doesn't want me bringing in another pet with Cody and Dakota. He says it would upset our "balance" and..........we can't afford another pet :(

  9. We had one mom cat who was so protective we thought she was feral. We set up feral moms with kittens in a large crate with a carrier mom can hide in when we clean the crate and play with the kittens, but Armina would charge the humans and swat and hiss. We spayed and vetted her when the kittens were six weeks and even ear-tipped her thinking we'd release her, then separated her from her kittens at eight weeks. After a week away from them it was clear she was friendly and she was adopted. Some moms are just fierce. I hope as Bissell enjoys some freedom from the kittens she will relax.

  12. Maybe Bissell has memories of being threatened by cats on the other side of doors...
