Adoptions and news

 Ambrosia and the kittens all were spayed or neutered on Thursday. Saturday they went to the local partner store and are now there for adoption. In fact, Cobb was adopted on Saturday by a couple with another kitten already at home. Caesar was adopted on Sunday by a retired couple with an adult cat. Hopefully additional adoptions will happen soon.

____________

We can't remember if we told you about Honda. She's a single kitten from the shelter who needed meds for a cold. She's in a crate in the living room (no mixing kittens). She little and cute. Mom gave her some freedom on Sunday and she had a good time. She is already spayed and scheduled to go back to the shelter June 9.

_____________

Of course it is a kitten season,  so the foster room was full again quickly. Well have a young momma and 3 kittens: 3 boys and 1 girl. No names yet but we think there is a theme. Just have to double check the master list for repeats. Mom is super friendly.

The kittens are a little shy. The one in the back not looking at the camera is the girl. They are eating well but need a brush out. Mom thinks they are about 5 weeks old so depending on how fast they grow, they will be here about a month.

10 weeks old

Time flies. The salads kittens and Ambrosia go on Thursday for their spay/neuter surgeries. Then there is an adoption event on Saturday and if there is space they will stay at the partner store to be adopted.

Also on Friday mom picked up Honda from the shelter. She's in a crate in the living room separate from the salad kittens. She has a cold so will be here for a couple of weeks.

It doesn't quite feel like May here yet in the Midwest but it's warm enough we can have the windows open. And today is Memorial Day so mom has the day off.

Freedom (sort of)

 Mom let the salad kittens out of the foster room on Sunday. They were all interested except Caesar who poofed and went back inside. Since no one is sure what Ambrosia will do, she's staying in the foster room as well. She didn't seem to mind.

Yes there are beds in there...not sure why this is the spot for a nap.

Only for a little bit on day one but it went pretty well. The kittens were curious and the girls were respectful.

New achievement- they figured out how to get up on the cabinet shelf.

Plus we got a new bigger box. Mom says it's not staying too long but we will see.

Happy spring

 At least we think it has finally arrived. Hope so since mom planted flowers on the balcony.

The kittens were petty fascinated with mom being outside for a while.

The salads will be 2 months old on the 15th and the rescue is working on getting them all on the surgery schedule.  Then it is off to be adopted.

We have also been babysitting for the shelter. A foster went on vacation and 3 of the kittens she had weren't big enough for surgery. They go back on Thursday and have been in the playpen and then allowed done freedom the last few days. Buzz, Woody and BoPeep

7 weeks old

 First: Phoenix went back to the on Thursday to be spayed. Available for adoption on Friday and was adopted on Saturday. Yay!!!

~~~~~~~~~~~
The irises outside the condo bloomed. Hopefully the once again lousy weather here won't kill them. So pretty.
Dear Buttons: how is the comfortable?
The tabby boys: Cobb and Panzanella
The 2 headed black and white kitten monster: Waldorf and Caprese
Caesar - still judgy
This rescue does surgery when they are over 2 months and 2.5 pounds. When mom weighed everyone on Friday, the boys were all right around 2 pounds and Caprese was 1.89 pounds. So probably a couple o weeks more.
They are a barrel of monkeys in there and while Ambrosis very good with them, there are times she makes it clear she is ready to be done. So depending on scheduling and everything, she may be the first priority.
6 weeks old
The "fun" part of foster kittens is the number of times the room has to be rearranged. Maybe someday we will get a bigger house with a separate foster room, but fir now the space is big enough for kittens but no storage or space for other stuff.
In this case, the panels are gone blocking the big litter boxes. Probably going to pull the crate out too since they aren't really using it much anymore. Mainly for goofing off but not really for sleeping.
April can't decide on the weather. Mom was wearing shorts on Thursday and a sweatshirt on Saturday. But we are getting some open windows time at least.
Oh....and this made mom laugh. Boba was under the covers and Buttons was trying to grab her tail. Wait for the end...
5 weeks plus one
 We've been holding out a little. There is a tiny void kitten who has taken up residence for a couple of weeks in the playpen in the living room.
Meet Phoenix. She's just here to get big enough for surgery. She was very hissy for about 2 days and now she is all about people. And Buttons...
Buttons discovered she can get in and out of the playpen. The goal was to leave the door open just enough for Phoenix. Turns out that's just enough for Buttons as well.
Ambrosia and the salad kittens are doing great. We haven't seen the kittens eating yet though they have sniffed everything. They are having fun running around and jumping on each other though.
One month old
 Time flies. They now have small litter boxes that they are using. No access to the big ones yet to avoid them eating the clumping litter (it's a thing - like kids everything goes in their mouths until they learn better). Earlier in the week the room was moved around to look like this:
On Sunday 2 kittens managed to escape that so it was rearranged again:
Ambrosia isn't really sure how she feels about loose kittens but the crate is still their safe space and they climb back in there.
Despite looking mildly grumpy for pictures, they are very sweet and all start chirping when mom goes in with them. Next step weaning but Ambrosia will help them with that. They've sniffed canned food but weren't really interested.
Really??
 Tried to get individual pictures of the kittens since they are now 3 weeks old. Not a lot of cooperation.
Waldorf (male)
Cobb (male)
Caesar (male)
Caprese (female)
Panzanella (male)
No one has escaped the crate yet but they are probably pretty close. Mom needs to sweep up in there since Ambrosia kicks litter all over and also get some non clumping litter for the kittens to use at first.
Mom was gone for a couple of days and apparently Waldorf forgot who she was:
And also just a shot of Buttons marching down the hall:
