A new era

 A post by the mom

Sorry its been quiet here for a while. Hopefully I can get back into a rhythm.

It's been stressful here. The rescue I've been with for over 10 years is unraveling. I've done everything I could to help bring change and progress. Unfortunately a dug in minority has decided they aren't going to budge.

So as of this weekend, I've walked away. I had made it clear there were decisions I couldn't live with. They made it clear where they are headed. And I can't do it anymore.

So where do I go from here? Taking a break. I've got time before kitten season im the mid west. I can't imagine not being a part of rescue. But not like this....

I'm actually really OK so I don't want people to worry. This has been coming and I've been planning for a couple of weeks. But change is always hard.

  1. I'm sorry you've had to walk away from the particular rescue, after a decade. There is no organization immune from issues with human egos and human "territory", unfortunately. Our best to you as you take a break and regroup.

  3. That's tough and I'm sorry to hear this Jeanne. You've done such amazing work over the years and I know you'll continue to do so in a way you choose.

    Wishing you a restful break.

P.S. Not sure why, but your posts aren't showing up in my feed. Good thing we follow you on FB too.

  5. There is that wonderful saying that as one door closes, another doir opens. Here is hoping for lots of fun and more kittens in the future!

  6. I'm so sorry to hear that after 10 years you find that a change is necessary. You've done amazing work for the rescue. Although change is always difficult, I've always felt that everything happens for the best, even though it might not look like it at the time. I wish you good luck, and I'm sure that you will soon find another rescue. After all, there are so many more cats that need your help.

  8. That's too bad. I hope you can find something else that makes you happy. I have not been voluteeering much lately but not because of them, it is because my work schedule has become much less predictable.

  12. We're sorry to hear about the rescue. Hopefully, for cat's sakes, they can get it together. We're sure you'll find some kittens that will need your expertise

  13. I’m sorry to hear this. I’m going through something similar. We’ll get through it. Any organization would be lucky to have either of us foster for them!
