We had a pretty quiet weekend. Still on kitten watch, so no rowdiness other than Daiquiri. MOL
Mom did get excited on Saturday when she saw a post on Facebook. When she left Nashville at the adoption location last week, they left a pair of 6 month old kittens as well (that were fostered by mom's friend Amanda). Blue and Teal are both polydactyl and had some eye issues that needed entropian surgery. And on Saturday they were adopted - TOGETHER!!! Woohoo....
Now to get Nashville adopted.....
And on Saturday, after watching the Spartan basketball team win, mom took off for a transport run.
Jughead was turned in to a high kill shelter in North Carolina. A rescuer in Ohio saw his picture on social media and he was so much like her pittie that she knew she had to save him. Just a few hours before he would have died in the shelter, he was pulled. And on Saturday made his way to Ohio. His ears were cropped really short, he needs to be neutered and is heart worm positive. But he is OH SO SWEET!! Like so many other dogs on transport, he was happy to see everyone and didn't mind being handed off to different people and the long car ride. He hopped right in mom's Beetle and after sniffing every inch of the backseat (no doubt it smelled a little like bloodhound), he laid down and snoozed. In fact, mom heard a noise at one point and realized he was snoring. She had to wake him up to get him to the next driver. MOL The rescuer renamed him Blue and we know he is in great hands and will find a wonderful home when he is healthy and ready for adoption.

Three of my Coonhounds came from shelters in NC and SC - two would have died only hours (possibly minutes) later if I hand't had them pulled for me. The third didn't have too much more time. All three came to me on volunteer rescue transport. I've been driving them myself for almost six years now. I just drove on Saturday - took an hour "leg" for puppies going from Indianapolis to MN. Six were only about 10 weeks old and from the same litter. One was four months, and the last one was about eight months or so. I've had just about any breed you can name in my vehicle. Cats, too (one transport I did was nothing BUT cats coming from a gassing shelter in Michigan and going to a wonderful rescue in IL). I've even had baby goats - rescuers in OH were picking up breeder releases from an Amish puppy mill in OH and when they got there, they say the baby goats, who had been cast aside to die. The mama goats were milk producers, and as with cows, have to give birth now and again to keep that milk flowing, but the farmers don't want to "waste" it on the babies. A dozen baby goats - one who still had their umbilical cord attached and all who were starving. It was fun helping bottle feed them. They were adopted quickly by people who can have goats (I can't in our town or I would have brought one home myself! Thanks for helping drive the rescue animals. There are never enough drivers in some areas.
ReplyDeleteSo glad that Blue was saved! What a sweet face.

ReplyDeleteI'm so glad the kittens were adopted together! And thank you for helping to save Blue. Wishes for happy lives for all of them!
ReplyDeleteThe name Jughead indicates what people thought of him. Blue is a better name - though it doesn't go with his mood, obviously!
