First announcement - mom got us a page on facebook - come visit and like the Random Felines page. We think you can just search for it. We would love to give you the link and maybe put it on the side bar, but despite Miss Connie giving mom a link to the plugins for facebook, she can't figure it out. Go figure......
Update: THANKS to Miss Connie (who did it for us), we now have a "follow" button on the left hand side of the blog for our facebook page.
OK - take it away mom to tell everyone about your trip:
I had a good time. I met SO many wonderful people that I don't dare make a list for fear of leaving someone off. :) It was great to meet so many animal people and put faces to names to blogs. Everyone was friendly and welcoming. Of course, I took Triscuit, so having the cuteness didn't hurt. I am pretty sure between Triscuit and Odilia, if there had been a cute award, we would have had to share it.
I will say this up front - I was disappointed with the amount of cat information and products. OK - there was the Cat Lounge, but the companies that sent products didn't send representatives. The swag bag had barely any cat stuff in it - and they asked if I wanted cat or dog when I checked in so they obviously thought they had enough to make a difference. Sparkle's mom posted on facebook that she took the bag back - I don't blame her. The sessions were ok...some WAY better than others. My thought would be to pick the good ones and expand the time so we could LEARN something rather than just get an overview. There were lots of sessions about tech info and monetizing your blog and getting more readers. I am sure that is all great, but I do this because I love it. I don't want it to become a job....that sounds too much like work. :) I had a good time, but unless there were some serious changes, I don't know if I would go again. It would be an expensive way to see people I like. Of course, the award party was GREAT fun!!
Notice a theme??? That kitten was SO popular. And honestly, I figured she would behave but I never could have figured she would be as good as she was. I took her to sessions and she would sleep in my arms. I would have her out for 2-3 hours at a time before giving her a break in the room. She posed for pictures and was kissed and was passed around and was GREAT!! Barking dogs, applause and catbells during the award show..... she didn't mind a bit. Her new family is going to get a great addition to their family.
I have lots of other pictures that I will try to get up later....

Coco from Curlz and Swirlz
Deb of Zee and Zoey's Chronicles and Triscuit
Dorian from Your Daily Cute and Triscuit
Triscuit curled up with Ingrid of The Conscious Cat the first day and snoozed
Maus and her mom from coffee cats n yarn
Odilia from Tails of the Foster Kittens
She and Triscuit weren't too sure about each other. Odilia is a single kitten and doesn't yet speak "cat" fluently. So Triscuit would walk up to her and wait for a signal to play which she wouldn't get as Odilia wasn't sure what to do. But they never fought and finally on Sunday morning as we were getting ready to leave, they were chasing each other around the hotel room. Figures...

We are seriously regrettin not sendin TBT to the Blog Paws. It was SO CLOSE, only a hunnert miles away. But we will LOVE hearin about it...
ReplyDeleteOh I am so glad to hear your take on the Blog Paws. I so agree with you. I do this blogging for the fun of it too. I really enjoy reading the blogs and checking on everyone every day. I would think you would have to work very very hard to make any kind of money on a blog. Anyway, glad you feel the same as I do. Triscuit sure was a hit.
ReplyDeleteGreat pics and report on Blog Paws! Mom hopes to go someday.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for your kind words about Auntie El's passing. We're sorry it's taken so long to reply but Mom is having a hard time. It's comforting to have the support of the Cat Blogosphere at this sad time.

That Triscuit is a STAR
ReplyDeleteSad to hear that cats were under-represented by the folks putting on the conference. This seems true in the marketplace as well, there are always way less cat books available than dog books, and dogs get aisles and aisles of toys at the big box pet stores while cats get half and aisle. I don't get it. Thanks for the review of BlogPaws, I was thinking of trying to go next year but may now reconsider.
ReplyDeleteAwww Triscuit!! What a sweetie! I don't think there is an equivalent of blogpaws here in the UK so it's very interesting to read from those who attend and what they make of such a conference! Take care
ReplyDeletex
Triscuit is adorable. Hope to meet you next year!
ReplyDeleteI couldn't agree more.. :) glad you had a good time!
ReplyDeleteI think Triscuit and Odilia stole the show, as it were. :-)
ReplyDeleteRE: FB -- I don't have an account and haven't been interested, as I think you're supposed to sign up under your real name, right? I have privacy issues--big surprise. Not.
So what did you do, use your real name and somehow create a page with your blog's name? Or did you skirt the "regulations" and sign up under the blog name? Sorry to be so dense!
It was great meeting you and Triscuit was the best ever! (As you know.) Such a cutie and beauty, and so sweet. I didn't take many pix (except of Triscuit & Odilia) so I'm looking forward to seeing your photos. I agree with your comments, maybe some sessions on writing, inspiration and things we could use in everyday blogging would be nice.
ReplyDeleteMy Dad, the Flat and the Hat sure had fun with you and Triscuit at BlogPaws!!! My Dad said I need some lessons from Triscuit, but I'm not sure what he means by that remark. He said that little Odilia was a puff ball of love!
ReplyDeleteLooks like you had a great time!!!
ReplyDeleteMy human said that Triscuit was amazing! She was so sweet and well behaved. It is too bad that she and Odilia did not have more time to get to know each other!
ReplyDeleteHaving the opportunity to hug Triscuit and Odilia would have made Blogpaws worth it for me. ;)
ReplyDeleteIt was such a joy getting to share some time with Triscuit, as I was going through some personal kitty issues and it was wonderful to be able to hold and hug such a precious little being. It was also wonderful meeting you and I agree, the cat representation was sorely lacking this year...
ReplyDeleteSounds like Triscuit would make a great therapy cat! Just an idea...
ReplyDeletetim & tom N crew...ya noe whats reeeeely nice bout this post...yur mom haza yet ta heer bout de houz trashin partee...we hada grate time; if we had facebook we wood be friends ore whatever they call it; that way next time yur mom leeves town we can plan another grate partee !! pea ess...dont forget bout de fish in de a/c vents !
ReplyDeleteshe is certainly a special kitty - thanks for featuring me on your blog!
ReplyDeleteMom says it was super nice to meet you AND Triscuit! I just finished helping mom write our postie abouts BlogPaws for tomorrow and it's funny cuz she's posting a picture of Triscuit AND talking about how BlogPaws might need to pay a little more attention to the kittehs next year. Heehee! Hopefully they will!
ReplyDeleteWiggles & Wags,
Mayzie
We sure enjoyed your stories from BP but we have to tell you we are srly in love (and so are many many others) with Odilla.
ReplyDeleteTriscuit is one sweet little kitty! We is surprised no one tried to take her home with them, MOL!
ReplyDeleteSasha, Sami, & Saku
P.S. I know I would have wanted to take her home! :)
Eileen
I love reading about BlogPaws but I am sad that our kitties wee under represented by the commercial folks. One of the commenters said that which well know...hardly any thing for the cats in a store but rows and rows of things for dogs.
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like Triscuit stole the show!
ReplyDeleteThat Triscuit charmed everybuddy, the mom said. We're gonna try to post some picture tomorrow if our innernets cooperates.
ReplyDeleteIt was so great to meet Triscuit - I mean, you! To meet you!
ReplyDeleteWhat a treat it was to meet you (and Triscuit, of course) in person! :)
ReplyDeleteYou pretty well sum up what others have said, but you sure had cuteness in abundance with Triscuit!!
ReplyDeleteMommy had really wanted to go to Blog Paws, but from what she has heard, we think the only things she really missed was meeting Triscuit and Odilia and the other Cat Bloggers. She doesn't think she wants to go to Las Vegas so Blog Paws may not be in her future. Thanks for sharing the photos and honest review. Purrs and hugs from the kitties at The Cat on My Head, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Josette
ReplyDeleteMommy came home griping that she did NOT get and Triscuit time. And we pointed out that she KISSED a FERRET instead. HARUMPF.
ReplyDelete(But she loved meeting you and had the best time she could possibly have without us around - which we know pales by comparison, but what wouldn't?).
It was wonderful to meet you and Triscuit. She was such a STAR! I'm surprised she didn't get adopted at BogPaws.I know she has a bright future ahead.
ReplyDeletepurrs.......
