Crate update

The foster room is hard to divide so to have more space we had been using a pop up playpen in the living room. This mostly worked though they aren't the easiest things to clean. After some thought (and a pop up being destroyed), mom started looking for a better solution. She found a crate but furniture piece. It looks nice but is functional.

However, it was very short. Obviously since its meant for dogs. However a kitten could get in a back corner and was just harder to catch. Like all foster plans, there are always many steps as you look for a workable solution.

First step - can it be taller? Bed riser for the win. However that created a new problem ' space under the crate.

You wouldn't think this was a huge deal, but if the kittens were to have more space to run around they can't be allowed underneath or they will escape into the house. So block the front. After some thoughts, cardboard seemed the easiest first choice.

From there is was use the tall tespo panels as walls and we have a new fix. It did take a couple of tries on where to attach the panels so the kittens can't climb the crate to escape.

This set up is with supervision only. If no one is home they are in the crate. But for right now this is working pretty well.

Weekend news

Sapphire and Peridot were adopted together!! Love that.

Pinwheel is now down at the partner store sharing space with Malachite

The Ohio girls are doing well. Still a little hand shy but not terrible. Mom's been connecting the smaller playpen to the crate which gives them more room to run around. Only under supervision but its a little more space.

And with 3 kittens from the rescue temporarily in the foster room on meds for a cold, we are full up.

Hopefully they are feeling better soon and adoptions for the rescue pick back up. August is usually slow with vacations and back to school.

Hope all of you are doing well and sending purrs to those that need them.

Let's see...

The gem stone kittens were back here for a weekbreak from the store and went back on Saturday. Hopefully they get adopted quickly. They are really great kittens but have hit the long leggy teenager stage.

The crate in the living room has 3 littler girls from the shelter. They were on meds but now just need to grow and get used to people. They were mildly hissy when we got them and being medicated for a week didn't make them like mom much. Next couple of weeks will hopefully just be fun.

Pinwheel is still here waiting for adoption or a spot at the store. She just loose in the house and hanging out.

Sunday mom took a road trip to help the rescue pick up a pallet of canned kitten food. Mom's not sure how it works but there's a group that coordinates and offers it to rescues at a steep discount.

It is pretty hot while loading so mom was drinking a lot of water on the way home.

Hope all of you are well. Keep cool and safe.
