A year in review (part 2)

July:
With Killian getting adopted and the rest of the beer kittens up at Petco, mom felt the need to bring home more kittens: Sorcha, Sebastian, Sierra and Screech

And then Licorice arrived....that has been an adventure (and she is STILL waiting for her forever home).

Our wordless Wednesday posts were dedicated to one of us per week. Most of July was taken up trying to determine what was up with Licorice, getting her healthy and less itchy.

August:
Sierra and Sebastian got adopted. And of course mom brought home more kittens - Hobbes and Mandy.

We celebrated our 4th blogoversary.

Busch and Miller were adopted together. We helped a former adopter rescue a kitten named Mitts. And Jake and Elwood came to the house as fosters.

September:
Stella was adopted!!!  And the pilot kittens - Goose, Maverick and Amelia (the Dust Bunny) joined us as fosters.

Mitts got adopted!!

Licorice finally was spayed, got her teeth cleaned and went up to Petco.

Spud and Ivy turned 5 years old and Maestro turned 19 years old!!

Elwood got to meow like a space-pirate.  MOL

And mom had an adventure with Junior that she could have done without.

October:
Tim and Tom turned 10 years old!

And we celebrated National Feral Cat Day. Especially our girl Allie.

Our cousin Max crossed the Rainbow Bridge. And Jake and Elwood got adopted.

And Basil and Saffron joined us as fosters.

November:
Oliver went to Petco, came here (in October), gave everyone the snot and then got adopted.

Rosie came to join Basil, Saffron and Amelia.

And Chex and Milano were returned due to medical issues with their family.

December:
Amelia finally got big enough and without snot to be spayed. Basil went with and was neutered.

Mom broke out some Christmas stuff....and made some of us wear it.

Basil got adopted. Maverick got adopted. Milano moved up to Petco. It was a wild weekend. :)

We got a special Catmas present from mom.

We participated in the Secret Paws gift exchange.

Rosie got adopted.

It has been quite a year. The blogging community has lost several members - you can see them here at the blog Our Rainbow Friends.  We have taken in fosters, and some were not strong enough to survive, but we know that part of fostering isn't always the good things but sometimes being there to help those that need us - even if it is help crossing the Bridge.

We have taken in 39 fosters this year. We have had some great adoptions. Mom has helped transport 20 dogs.

We wish you a wonderful, healthy and happy 2014!!  We can't wait to see what comes.

Changes.....

Mom has been doing the logic problem of who would be here over Christmas and how to deal with that and the pet sitter.....

Well, some of that was solved over the weekend.  And it is all good!!

 First Basil was adopted and went home on Saturday. Mom picked him and Amelia up from Petco on Friday after work as their snot had returned. Miss Beckie called mom on Saturday and said a woman had come up to the adoption center as someone at Petco had said he was up there (not sure why they would have said that, but whatever). The woman wanted to meet Basil, so mom drove him over. It was love and he went home with her that same day. He will be on meds for his snot while he adjusts to being in a new home. He will have a new mom and a big 4 year old cowcat brother named Apollo. In fact, his new mom posted an update on our facebook page - Basil is now Loki and did great at his first vet appointment.  :)

Maverick told Santa last week that he wanted a family for Christmas and his wish came true on Sunday. He is going home with a nice man and his girlfriend. Mav will be their only kitty.

Milano is now up at Petco. She was kind of grumpy with Mav (she moved
up there before he left) so we won't be putting anyone else up there with her
unless Chex gets over his snot sometime soon.

Rosemary and Saffron got to meet Santa on Sunday.
They are (currently) scheduled to be spayed on today.
(but the post goes up before they get there)
Cross your fingers - mom said if one of them sneezes on
a vet tech, she may have to scream.  MOL

Rosie, Saff and Basil on Saturday

So the pet sitter will have the permanent crew plus 4 kittens. Though mom said something about maybe taking Rosemary and Saffron up to the store over the weekend to see if we could get any takers.

Weekend review

When Basil and Amelia were spayed/neutered last week, mom brought them home and put them in the playpen to let them recover. Well, then it was game on....and the playpen took a beating. Yes - those walls are bending in due to a certain overload of kittens on top and Basil hanging on from the inside. MOL

We got some snow on Friday and Saffron spent some time staring out the window at that stuff falling from the sky.

Mom took the kittens to Petco for their national adoption weekend. No adoptions, but some donations and talk to lots of people. And Maverick got to meet Santa....

Basil and Amelia are now up there full time living with Maverick. He seemed pretty happy to have company again. Saturday morning, Amelia seemed less than amused by Mav but by end of the event on Sunday, they were all passed out. Saffron and Rosemary both figured out how to escape baby jail. They seemed to sulk some on Saturday....and Sunday wouldn't come out of the carrier at all.

Adoption weekend.....

Mom is dragging the kittens off to Petco this weekend for their adoption event. Basil and Amelia were spayed/neutered on Wednesday and are ready to go. Mom had to read the paperwork twice - Amelia weighed 2.7 pounds and Basil weighed 4.1 pounds. Really???

Basil bounced back pretty fast. Amelia was ummmm....hung over. MOL
No...we don't know what she is doing.
She did it for several minutes.
Mom almost snorted soda out her nose.

And if they were being dragged off, this is how the kittens would prefer to spend the weekend.
 Saffron and Rosemary

Amelia

Basil and Saffron

If Basil got any more relaxed, he would be a puddle of fuzz.

Thankful Thursday

We have said it before, but we want to say it again.

We are so very thankful for being part of such a wonderful blogging community. Through good and bad times, we are there for each other....sending purrs and prayers, sending cyber hugs and support and cheering on the good things.

We give you all 4 thumbs up!!!

Toesday

Miss Amelia ended up at the v-e-t yesterday. She just can't seem to shake the snot that she got. She is back on another drug and we are hoping this one works. We can tell she just doesn't feel very good. And we don't think it is very nice that mom is calling her Darth Snot.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
  Rosemary contemplates how many toes she has
(a lot - she is a polydactyl or mitten paw)
 prior to his manicure, Basil wants you to know
he has claws and is not afraid to use them
This is not the first time we have had polydactyl kittens, but Rosemary's white feet make her seriously even more adorable. And Miss Saffron's toes are a little more obvious as she gets bigger.
Let us introduce:
Rosemary (aka Rosie)
We got some good suggestions and will add them to our list. But this seems to fit her. We had a couple of suggestions for Thumbelina - that's kind of hard to keep saying plus we have NO idea how it relates to Basil and Saffron. MOL
She is cracking mom up. She has NO fear and the three kittens seem to be doing very well with each other. Everyone got manicures the other day....mom was tired of being used as a scratching post.
Mom has modified the paypen by adding baby jail to it. It gives them a little more room to run around. Rosie and Basil have both tried to climb the outside of the playpen to escape, but the manicures helped with that. Rosie is pretty bouncy and when they wear each other out, they go back inside to crash.
And of course the box is pretty popular. Normally either Saffron or Basil are sleeping in it, or Rosie is climbing all over it. But when Basil climbed in on top of Saff, mom had to get a picture.  :)
Random Fridays.....
we have NO idea where Saffron learned that smug espression from
Mav....hanging at Petco
Licorice - yep, mastered the leg dangle
Goose is wondering if he reaches a little farther if he can open the lock
Mo is protesting....he is hiding out until Caturday arrives
Thankful Thursday....
Today we are thankful for good friends.  :)
The other day mom got a call from our friend Miss Kelly. She asked....  "do you have kittens?"  When mom stopped laughing she said - yep. What's up??
It seems that a friend of Miss Kelly's called and said she had found a sick kitten in her back yard all alone. She brought the kitten inside and was caring for it but didn't know exactly what she was doing. So Miss Kelly gave her some advice and mom filled in the blanks through texts.
Miss Kelly fosters as well but everyone agrees that single kittens aren't a good thing - they are better in groups where they can get experience and social skills. Miss Kelly doesn't currently have fosters, so mom agreed to have the kitten come here.
No name yet. Little girl, short haired gray and white. And....polydactyl. Yep - she has thumbs like Saffron. We would like to stick with the theme, but we are taking suggestions.
She just came into the house last night after getting her "negative" test results. She is vaccinated and in with Basil and Saffron. So far they are checking each other out and it is going well.
We will have more updates for you, but wanted to let you in on the newbie.
