You can't handle the nip

Miss Connie sent us a grade-A catnip toy. Mom figured that Daiquiri would be all over it.

Turn out she was wrong. Ivy grabbed it first....

Then a certain teenager got his paws on it

Just as an FYI....Fate is a mean and slappy drunk.

wow he was little

We are giving you a little throw back today....back when the #dangernugget was still a nugget. Yep - that is Fate getting his butt kicked by Cipher.

In contrast, this is Fate now being stalked by an itty bitty Gargoyle

Messing around

Daiquiri seems to have a weird sense when mom points a camera at her. Phone, video, camera....doesn't matter.

Mom has been trying to get video of the girls playing on the floor. The girls?? Not helping:

video Wednesday

Mom obviously wants to keep Chanel social and going places. However, the weather here this past weekend was....miserable (and still is miserable). Temperatures in the teens and several inches of snow. Since mom wasn't running errands much, Chanel got to make a trip to the v-e-t with Ivy. Ivy got her ear checked and terrorized a new vet tech. Chanel ran around the room and charmed everyone. She now weighs 7 pounds 4 ounces (mom swears that has to be low).

something in the air

We don't know what was going on this weekend, but a couple of cats were feeling rolly

big cat or little cats

Apparently it doesn't matter the SIZE of the cat, they can all flail around with the best of them.

Though in Ivy's defense, it usually requires that she has a toy she is excited about.

These guys just roll over and get stuck.

playtime

After Christmas, we got a box in the mail. Mom opened it and our friends The Island Cats had sent presents to the foster kittens. One was another of the famous blue track ball. The other was this toy. Mom is saving the blue track for fosters this spring. Cassis is loving this toy mom put out....and Daiquiri and Dandelion play with it as well. Thanks to Wally, Ernie, Zoey and their mom.

video

From time to time you see videos out there promoting ideas to make the world a better place.

A group of pet people and advocates were approached with this idea: what if you could say anything to the world or leaders to give a voice to animals? What would you say???

Go ahead....go find a tissue....we'll wait.....

Cause of course if you are going to make a video, there will be outtakes:

weekend report

It was a mostly quiet weekend - except mom decided to pull out the evil dyson and was doing laundry too.

Everyone here is doing pretty well. Almond should be neutered (hopefully) on Wednesday. Acorn has an eye infection so mom is going to hold off on her surgery until Acorn is 100%. The family that adopts Almond is in for a treat. He is SUPER affection but also a little wild and crazy.

Daiquiri of course is having a blast with the kittens.

The spooky house is still standing....though it comes off it's foundation occasionally.

Otherwise we made every effort to get our snooze on.

Mom visited with Reno and Tostada on Sunday when she was cleaning their cages. Both are very happy about being at the store, but both will come over when someone (especially mom) talks to them. Tostada let mom hold her for a couple of minutes. Reno on the other hand put some serious love moves on mom. We hope that someone walks by very soon and adds them to their family.

Oh - and the fuzzy kitten Margaret that went on the Uber trip on Thursday? She was adopted over the weekend.  :)

Oh - mom is going to BarkWorld again this year. There are some great keynote speakers, including the guys from Canopy Cat Rescue (they were on Animal Planet for a while). Not only will mom get to hear them speak, but she will have a chance to talk to them with a small group of bloggers. If you have anything you would like to know about them, put it in the comments and mom will try to get an answer.

National Cat Day

Isn't that every day???

Be sure to keep track of mom today on our facebook page....our local Uber drivers are doing a special thing today for the rescue. 4 drivers are hooking up with 4 volunteers and groups of kittens and driving around town giving "kitten breaks" to local businesses for a donation to the rescue. How cool is that??? Mom will post a blog tomorrow about how it goes....

Speaking of facebook, if you haven't seen it, mom posted a video to instagram which loaded to facebook and is going wild on our page....

And since we are posting videos....here is Almond entertaining himself over the weekend.

Happy 6th Blogoversary to us!!!

Who would have thought we would come so far and still be around???

Some numbers for you:

We started fostering in 2006, meaning as of now, we have been in the foster business for 10 years!! Wow!

With the current kittens in residences, we have fostered a total of 234 cats and kittens.118 female, 116 male. Huh....that IS interesting.

Not to mention various dogs and cats driven on transport. :)

Some blog stats:
             1527 posts....who would have thought???
In the last month our July Blog the Change post got the most views
             Overall views: more than 244,000
Top traffic sources: Feedly, Cat Blogosphere, Broken Teepee (thanks Miss Patty)
Views by country: mostly the US, then Russia, Ukraine and various European countries
Other things mom found interesting: 41% use Foxfire, 22% use Chrome, 62% are Windows users

Not bad considering when we started mom mainly thought she was talking to herself.  MOL

We lost some of our permanent residents and gained some as well. We have gained and lost friends - some we have met in person and some we have not. We have seen our community band together to help those in need and blog to make changes to the world around us. Mom has traveled to Blog Paws and BarkWorld and met some great cat people in person!!

Mom figures she would still do this as a way to document us and the fosters, but knowing that others are out there - enjoying our pictures, sharing in our highs and lows and enjoying what we talk about (and maybe sometimes learning something) - that is so important as well.
In that spirit, we are giving back to ave a comment and we will put together a prize package and mail it out to one winner. Since mom has never really gotten to be more than her techno-dork self, we will just take all the names, put them in a container and let a kitten pick one out. US, International - everyone is welcome. (we will announce the winner on Friday, so we will take comments made through Thursday 11pmEST)

We love you all and THANK YOU for being our friends!!  We know we don't comment as often as we should sometimes, but know we are around.

Oh - and for a quick laugh - all the kittens have been out for the last few days (talk about chaos). Mom was trying to get video of Tamarind and Cinnamon playing when someone wandered through the shot.....

Chewy review

Chewy.com asked us to review some treats. Far be it from us to turn down that offer. We got some Blue Wilderness Chicken and Duck flavor this time. They are grain free - and hey...they are currently on sale. :)

Around here, treats are usually a big hit. Mom shakes a bag or our treat container and we all (or most) magically appear. Ivy didn't show up for this trial, but there were some left over, so we know she will get some. These were a hit with everyone. We do tend to like the softer treats better and these were nice ones. Mom said they even smell like chick-hen.

She did take them into the bathroom and give some to Margarita (forgetting her camera of course). Margarita didn't seem too interested, but mom left some in her food dish and they were gone the next time mom checked on everyone.

Overall, we give it the 6 cat salute (we can't say 7 since Ivy was nowhere to be found for the test).

Oh, and mom says that she has mentioned before about Junior and his "whine" as opposed to meow. She finally got it recorded as he was complaining about the treat service.

Daiquiri and Tim

No matter how old the kitten, no one seems to be able to resist Tim's charm

OK - and for some reason she was biting his collar.....

video Wednesday

Flashback
3 years ago we caught the last group of kittens born to our local feral colony (this doesn't include Allie - she showed up later). The kittens were named after famous actors: the first video is Lucille Ball (Lucy) and the second is Grace Kelly.
