A year in review (part 2)

July:
With Killian getting adopted and the rest of the beer kittens up at Petco, mom felt the need to bring home more kittens: Sorcha, Sebastian, Sierra and Screech

And then Licorice arrived....that has been an adventure (and she is STILL waiting for her forever home).

Our wordless Wednesday posts were dedicated to one of us per week. Most of July was taken up trying to determine what was up with Licorice, getting her healthy and less itchy.

August:
Sierra and Sebastian got adopted. And of course mom brought home more kittens - Hobbes and Mandy.

We celebrated our 4th blogoversary.

Busch and Miller were adopted together. We helped a former adopter rescue a kitten named Mitts. And Jake and Elwood came to the house as fosters.

September:
Stella was adopted!!!  And the pilot kittens - Goose, Maverick and Amelia (the Dust Bunny) joined us as fosters.

Mitts got adopted!!

Licorice finally was spayed, got her teeth cleaned and went up to Petco.

Spud and Ivy turned 5 years old and Maestro turned 19 years old!!

Elwood got to meow like a space-pirate.  MOL

And mom had an adventure with Junior that she could have done without.

October:
Tim and Tom turned 10 years old!

And we celebrated National Feral Cat Day. Especially our girl Allie.

Our cousin Max crossed the Rainbow Bridge. And Jake and Elwood got adopted.

And Basil and Saffron joined us as fosters.

November:
Oliver went to Petco, came here (in October), gave everyone the snot and then got adopted.

Rosie came to join Basil, Saffron and Amelia.

And Chex and Milano were returned due to medical issues with their family.

December:
Amelia finally got big enough and without snot to be spayed. Basil went with and was neutered.

Mom broke out some Christmas stuff....and made some of us wear it.

Basil got adopted. Maverick got adopted. Milano moved up to Petco. It was a wild weekend. :)

We got a special Catmas present from mom.

We participated in the Secret Paws gift exchange.

Rosie got adopted.

It has been quite a year. The blogging community has lost several members - you can see them here at the blog Our Rainbow Friends.  We have taken in fosters, and some were not strong enough to survive, but we know that part of fostering isn't always the good things but sometimes being there to help those that need us - even if it is help crossing the Bridge.

We have taken in 39 fosters this year. We have had some great adoptions. Mom has helped transport 20 dogs.

We wish you a wonderful, healthy and happy 2014!!  We can't wait to see what comes.

Changes.....

Mom has been doing the logic problem of who would be here over Christmas and how to deal with that and the pet sitter.....

Well, some of that was solved over the weekend.  And it is all good!!

 First Basil was adopted and went home on Saturday. Mom picked him and Amelia up from Petco on Friday after work as their snot had returned. Miss Beckie called mom on Saturday and said a woman had come up to the adoption center as someone at Petco had said he was up there (not sure why they would have said that, but whatever). The woman wanted to meet Basil, so mom drove him over. It was love and he went home with her that same day. He will be on meds for his snot while he adjusts to being in a new home. He will have a new mom and a big 4 year old cowcat brother named Apollo. In fact, his new mom posted an update on our facebook page - Basil is now Loki and did great at his first vet appointment.  :)

Maverick told Santa last week that he wanted a family for Christmas and his wish came true on Sunday. He is going home with a nice man and his girlfriend. Mav will be their only kitty.

Milano is now up at Petco. She was kind of grumpy with Mav (she moved
up there before he left) so we won't be putting anyone else up there with her
unless Chex gets over his snot sometime soon.

Rosemary and Saffron got to meet Santa on Sunday.
They are (currently) scheduled to be spayed on today.
(but the post goes up before they get there)
Cross your fingers - mom said if one of them sneezes on
a vet tech, she may have to scream.  MOL

Rosie, Saff and Basil on Saturday

So the pet sitter will have the permanent crew plus 4 kittens. Though mom said something about maybe taking Rosemary and Saffron up to the store over the weekend to see if we could get any takers.

Random Fridays.....

we have NO idea where Saffron learned that smug espression from

Mav....hanging at Petco

Licorice - yep, mastered the leg dangle

Goose is wondering if he reaches a little farther if he can open the lock

Mo is protesting....he is hiding out until Caturday arrives

Random Fridays....

Our friends at Perfectly Parker are asking for our help making people and animals aware that November is Diabetes Awareness Month.

Our friend Bella over at Paws and Effect even features a "sugar kitty" each week looking for a home. Bella is diabetic herself and has made it her mission to debunk the myths and show people that having a pet with it isn't such a big deal.
~~~~~~~~~~~
So with Maverick and Goose at Petco, mom is faced with a decision.....Amelia is now on her own in the playpen in the living room. Basil and Saffron are in the bathroom. Hmmmmm
~~~~~~~~~

Gonna be a busy weekend here.....Petco's adoption weekend is this weekend and rather than just Sunday, the manager asked mom to come both days. So hopefully we will have adoption news on Monday. In the meantime, she has to get organized so she can get over there with the three kittens from here and all her stuff.

Our guys in green aren't playing football this weekend. Mom says they have a "bye". If they are just off for the week, we have no idea why it is called a "bye". Peeps are weird.

Thankful Thursday....

We want to add our purrs to Ginger Jasper's family as he ran for the Bridge yesterday....
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Loved reading some of the comments from Tuesdays post about adoptions. Mom says she will never cease to be amazed by people.....
And along that line:
Luke went home last night. Yep - no sooner did we post about him than mom got an application. Nice retired couple....with no other animals. :)  Luke will be in heaven. They did ask about maybe some day getting another cat and mom talked about VERY SLOW introductions.  Concats Luke!!
And that means that Maverick and Goose will be on there way to Petco starting tonight. Mom talked to the assistant manager and the store is going to clean both top and bottom cages and then move Licorice to the top cage. Hopefully she will get a little more notice....and at the very least she will be able to see something outside other than people's knees. MOL
So, last night was the last night with these guys running around:
 Maverick snoozing with Amelia
 Goose and Ivy
Mav killing the mouses
Amelia is still kinda snotty....once that clears up she will get to go up there as well. It will be interesting to see how she handles being alone. Mom isn't ready to let Saffron and Basil out - maybe over the weekend the three kittens will get to meet.
Speaking of Amelia....did you read the Catster article about ****y faces on cats? Miss Janiss wrote it - she is Sparkle's assistant. We were thrilled when mom and Amelia were asked to be part of the article.
Random Fridays.....
Mom has changed the meds for the kitten-snot and is also now treating Mozart. But she is kind of worried about him....poor boy may end up at the v-e-t. He just isn't acting like himself and we can tell he isn't feeling good.
~~~~~~~~~

The new kittens - Basil and Saffron are doing great. They have been dewormed a couple of times but are eating like champs. Mom says they are going to get a b-a-t-h once they are in the clear and no longer have the runs. Heaven knows what they were exposed to before being rescued. But heavens are they sweet.  :)

Basil

Saffron

Mom is gearing up for a BIG football game on Saturday. Our Spartans play the evil wolverines. We are wondering if they make earplugs for cats.

And since you can never have too much cute:
Amelia (dust bunny) and Maverick

Happy Halloween!!!

In honor of this holiday.....we refuse to dress up.  No costumes no how no way!!!

However, we can give you lots of blacks cats:

The Dust Bunny/Amelia is growing into a big girl-cat. Her hair isn't quite as wild as it was when she was tiny either. But she still has that chocolate overtone to her furs. She still isn't spayed yet either.... gotta get over the (neverending) snot.

Mozart is of course our resident house panther. He is the light weight of the family at just over 8 pounds and mom suspects he spends a lot of time looking for ways to warm up. :)

And then there is the Goose. (you saw his brother Maverick yesterday)  He is just goofy.......

it is such a shame he can't seem to relax at all

We hope you all have a SAFE and treat filled holiday!!!
