It's a boy

 We suspect some of you saw this coming, but if not, mom is making it official:

This guy is staying. He just needs a new name. Mom is thinking Tahini but it may not stick. Maybe Sesame. Mom also calls him Godzilla for the way he stomps around and jumps on everyone but that a good nickname not official name for him.

Clearly he had this figured out early on, but mom wanted to be sure the girls and Junior would be ok with him. Everyone seems to be doing remarkably well. Probably better once he is out of the stupid teenager phase. Haha

Yes, he does sleep all sprawled put like that all the time. More than once mom has stared at him making sure he is breathing.

Godzilla about to strike

weekend report

Happy 10th Gotcha Day to Ivy

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Mom took Mike to visit Santa Claws. We are sure he asked for a forever home for himself and all the other homeless kitties out there. He was VERY well behaved and even walked around on the leash some.
Junior's Gotcha Day and a birthday
Happy 6th Gotcha Day to Junior!
Resident stalker, menace and plaything for Daiquiri.
He was a cute little bugger when mom got him.
(despite being annoyed at being caught)
Now he hangs around inside. Mom can't touch him...she finally got the v-e-t to stop sending us his annual "bring him in for shots" updates cause NO WAY is that going to happen. He annoys the living daylights out of Spud and Ivy, but adores Daiquiri. Mom truly does think that it isn't that he is trying to be annoying....he just communicates differently since he was outside on his own until mom trapped him when he was over 3 months old.
And.....
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO OUR MOM
*check back tomorrow for a very special birthday present
HAPPY Gotcha Day Mozart
OK - so it's technically tomorrow, but since we don't normally post on weekends, this is what happens....
Mom was looking stuff over and realized Mo's Gotcha Day is tomorrow! And it is his 10th!!! We hope she breaks out some good treats or something.
For those who are new here (or have forgotten), Mozart came to us as a foster kitten with his brother Picasso. Mo developed a NASTY cold that infected his eyes and extended his time here with us. Everything healed up, but he does have a corneal scar on his left eye. (which accordingly made mom laugh when she was updating his microchip information and it asked for identifying information - good luck on a solid black short hair cat - until mom remembered the scar). He actually went back to the humane society where mom was volunteering at the time. He was there for a few days - and the vet that was working there at the time put a note on his information that said he may have to lose the eye and the new adopters would have to deal with that. So now they've got a 6 month old, solid black male cat with potential expensive medical issues. Oh...he got pretty cranky about being back at the humane society. Mom finally saw the writing on the wall and brought him back home.
So, to our cranky old man and lovable house panther:
HAPPY GOTCHA DAY!!!
This isn't a great picture, but you can see how the light hits
his left eye differently. THAT is the scar.
Happy Gotcha Day Tommy!!
We are missing Tim today a little bit more than normal since it is his gotcha day too. We hope he is getting extra treats and some nip over The Bridge
Happy Gotcha Day Daiquiri
Don't ask
Has it really been a year???  Who would have thought.
Daiquiri has been a wonderful and fun addition to our family. She is (mostly) great with the fosters (she can be a little rough sometimes - doesn't know her own size or strength). She keeps Junior jumping - which is a relief to Spud and Ivy we are sure. She is just funny too. She despises having her eyes checked for boogers. She tolerates (at best) having her nails trimmed. She plays fetch....sometimes - good about bringing it back about 3/4 of the time but has been known to drop it JUST out of reach of the mom. She sings in the entry way to the condo. She knows her name....and her nickname (The Brat).
While we never intended to add her to the family, we can't imagine life without her.
hard to believe she was that tiny when we got her
Happy Gotcha Day Ivy and Spud
8 years??
Are you sure??
Holy Moly!!
Ivy came to our house as a foster with her mom and four sisters. To this day if you ask mom, she will tell you she had NO intention of keeping a kitten at that time. And yet....Ivy went back to the shelter and a few days later came back to the house. She is certainly the princess of the family.
Spud was found by a neighbor of our grandparents while we were fostering Ivy and her family. Mom took him to get tested and then he joined the group. The original plan was to take him to the shelter when the other kittens went back to be adopted. Still not sure how that didn't happen.
HAPPY GOTCHA DAY!!!
Tim and Tom Gotcha Day
11 years??? Wow - times flies.  :)  You can ready about how they ended up with us (the abbreviated version) here.
Tim is affectionately known around here as "Uncle Tim" - he is probably the most willing to put up with kitten shenanigans. He had to have most of his teeth pulled a couple of years ago due to stomatitis and will more than likely have to lose his fangs sometime soon.
Tommy is the fun police - unless he is the one having fun. He tolerates the kittens but will happily put them in their place. Though he has been busted a couple of times cleaning them....just don't tell anyone we told you. He is getting a little leaner as he gets older, but he is still head mancat around here.
Happy Gotcha Birthdays
Can you believe the orange menace has been with us for 4 years??!!???
Happy Gotcha Day Junior!!
He has gone from a skittish 3 month old kitten to a skittish almost 5 year old adult. MOL  Every once in a while mom will catch a glimpse of potential in him for friendly-ness, but for the most part he doesn't want much to do with people. Mom says she is glad that he is so good with the kittens. And hey - Daiquiri thinks he is awesome!  (for new readers, you can read about his introduction here)
In addition, the mom, her best friend, and the kid are all celebrating their BIRTHDAYS!!!
     Ivy: wait - should we have gotten mom a present???
     Daiquiri: doesn't that Santa Paws guy bring the presents??
     Ivy: no, dingbat, only at Catmas....otherwise, for our birthdays we get present from mom.
     Daiquiri: so she is going to buy herself a present for her birthday?
     Ivy: sigh.....
Mom is actually visiting her family this weekend, so we are celebrating by trying to get more treats out of the pet sitter. Wish us luck!!
Mozart's Gotcha Day
Our house panther has been with us for 8 years. Hard to believe it has been that long some times. For those who weren't following us then, Mozart came to us as a foster kitten with his orange tabby brother Picasso. Both went back to the shelter to be adopted, but Mo got a cold and came back to the house. His eye infection got so bad that in fact he has a corneal scar on his left eye. It doesn't seem to bother him and if it affects his vision, you can't tell anymore. But at the shelter he was a 6 month old black male cat with "special needs". Plus he hated being there and was being a bit of an.....idiot....to strangers and some staff.  MOL
Mo LOVES mom. He is all over her a good deal of the time and would sleep on top of her if she would let him. And he has a mild obsession with chewing on her hair (she doesn't allow that either).
While he is great with people and most of us here, he certainly has his cranky moments....normally at the v-e-t. And while mom doesn't blame him for that, he has to be reminded that he isn't allowed to bite people either. He also grumbles about getting his nails trimmed and certainly has no use for foster kittens.
But we love him anyway.
HAPPY GOTCHA DAY MO!!!
Someone made the comment to mom that maybe Mo will mellow with age. Mom is afraid he is already a grumpy old man and is going to get worse. hahaha
HAPPY Gotcha Day
Ivy and Spud
Hard to believe this was 6 years ago.
Don't let the pictures deceive you - they don't spend time together anymore.
Ivy was here as a foster with her mom and her sisters and Spud had been found by a neighbor of our grandparents. Spud fit right in with the girls. While there was no intention of adding to the family, Spud and Ivy never really left.
