Almost a year ago (part two)....

There were two more guys in the alcohol family kitten family. Bourbon and Moonshine were here much longer. Bourbon never went to Petco - he was born with no kneecaps in his back legs and mom wanted to keep him safe and keep people from feeling sorry for him. Shine went to Petco but was VERY unhappy there and ended up coming back to the house. And at the end of 2012, the boys were adopted together.

Well, mom told L and L when they adopted the boys that they were getting "two kittens and a stalker" which they were really ok with. Thank cod......
 picture from their mom - shortly after going home

And, last Wednesday mom got to stop over and see the boys. She doesn't normally get birthday presents for former fosters, but this group is different, so she had Miss Andrea from Celestial Kitties make us some special kickers for them with their names on them. And then mom forgot to get pictures of the toys.  MOL

(BTW - Tucker's mom says Tucker never growls or hisses at his sister....but he got his kicker in the mail and was NOT ABOUT to let her near his new toy).

Bourbon is the official family greeter and was right there when mom got to their front door. Goose (Moonshine) is a little shyer, but loves his mom and dad. They call him the land shark cause he will run across the room and jump on his dad for a ride across the apartment. The first thing mom noticed was that, while he still walks funny, Bourbon noticeably walks more like normal. His back doesn't have nearly the slope.  And the boys are VERY loved and spoiled.

When the toys were broken out, Bourbon claimed them both.
Goose wasn't having it though and took off with his.

think all of the money you could save - just buy him a paper bag

Mom sent them a note when she got home thanking them for letting her come over. She got this back from their mom:
Thank you again for the gifts for the boys- they are absolutely loving them! We feel so lucky to have added such amazing cats to our little family and really feel like they were always meant to be with us. Thank you so much for being such a great foster to our "babies"!

Awwwww - that is why mom fosters.  :)

We hope you enjoyed the updates. It was pretty awesome for mom to get to see all the boys now that they are just over a year old.

Bourbon and Moonshine.....

It has been a slightly quieter weekend around here.  See, Friday night mom got a text from the rescue lady. Someone had stopped by the rescue center.....they were dropping off donations but wanted to ask about Bourbon after seeing him on Petfinder.

Now, mom will admit that her heart skipped a beat.  But, she did the right thing and called them. They had a previous special needs cat from the same rescue. That cat developed a neurological issue and ended up losing feeling in his back legs. He only lived about 18 months, but mom said you could tell they loved him very much. They spoke about Bourbon's issues and mom mentioned his brother Moonshine was living here too. They made an appointment to meet both boys on Sunday.

    what the carp is all that white stuff???

                                    Shine doing his cat tree inspection

    yes, that is Emma curled up with da Bourb

So Sunday morning mom packed up the boys and met this very nice couple. No kids, no other animals. Mom got there early enough to get Bourbon out and on his leash/harness and comfortable. The couple showed up and they started talking and mom handed over Bourbon. Logan (the dad) is pretty tall and has a beard. Bourbon did his lean back and give you the "look" thing - and then reached out to touch Logan's beard. Too funny.  Moonshine came out and was loved on by Laura for a few minutes. They talked about helping Moonshine adjust and his favorite trick of carrying around a ball in his mouth and throwing it down the stairs to chase it.

They fell in love with both boys and adopted them that morning. Mom said did say that they were adopting two kittens and a potential stalker - which they are ok with.

Mom is a little sad, but knows that this couple is well equipped to care for Bourbon, accepts both boys for who they are and are just what mom could hope for. They have moved furniture and built stairs for their previous cat and couldn't wait to get them home. Mom knew the only way Bourbon was leaving here was with the "perfect" family.  And they were open to adopting Moonshine too. :)

Good luck and much love to Bourbon, Moonshine and their new mom and dad......

We gotted an update:

Bourbon has been playing all day! He's still a little
skittish around us, but has ventured into my lap a
few times. Grey Goose (fka Moonshine- we decided
to only rename him to play off his coloring) spent
most of the afternoon hiding under the couch. He was
pretty shy at first but he's slowly been exploring the
place with Bourbon this evening and the 2 of them have
been napping together and sharing toys and taking turns
using the litterboxes. We just love them already
and are so happy to have them as our little family!

so close and yet.....

Bourbon and Moonshine were laying on the floor the other night - close to the same position a couple of feet apart. It was pretty cute and mom got up quietly to get the flashy box.

She got back out and was setting up to take the picture....

when....

there was a thundering down the hall and this happened:

Gives photobomb new meaning.....

And we love that Shine sat there, in the same position he started in, and watched Bourb get run over.  MOL  Uncle Bill is feeling MUCH better and has become quite the firecracker around the house.

Mom did get a couple of cute pictures of the alcohol boys though.....

Da Bourb loves that scratcher, but we don't think he is using it quite right.

no easy Caturday.....

Please be sure to check out the auction using the sidebar button. It will be up through December 1!!

Mom says that Gin is staying at Petco until she gets adopted so help her cod!!!  As of yesterday morning, Gin wasn't being very nice to Uncle Bill, but it wasn't attempted murder.....yet. :)

Moonshine is still here. Mom says she isn't sure what to do with the boy. He is a lovey guy when he is here but a serious crab at the store.

In the meantime, he and Bourbon are playing. Be sure to check your volume before hitting play - Moonshine is a screamer. MOL

And the door revolves again.....

We wouldn't be surprised if Moonshine and Gin are dizzy by now. MOL

Mom got thinking about Cleo. She needed to be away from the kitts and get some quiet after surgery. Yeah, that ain't gonna happen here. :)  So, mom got to thinking (a dangerous proposition, we admit). What if Gin and Shine came back here (again) and Cleo took their spot at Petco? Seemed like a good idea. So Cleo took their spot and they ended up in Cleo's carrier to come back to the house.

And Shine nearly got himself in BIG trouble....he threw a fit about getting in the carrier. And then growled and hissed and whacked at Gin until they got home. Mom knows it is cause the carrier smelled like Cleo, but sheesh.  About an hour after getting home, everyone was back to normal. Or as normal as it gets around here.

We can't say thanks enough for the support for the auction. Miss Marg says she is getting lots of donations. We put up the chip in (though it appears to not be updating - mom will have to get on that and we wish her good luck with her general lack of technical skills MOL). If you are baffled by that but want to help, let us know.

Random Fridays.....

About the flashy box. Mom knows she used it last Friday to post our weekend editions. She had the picture of Junior on the camera. But, someone had yakked on her chair so she was sitting on the sofa with the laptop on the coffee table. She got the picture loaded and eventually put the laptop back in its case. But she thinks she may have left the flashy box on the coffee table. And it has a stringy attached to it for people to slip over their wrists. And..... still no sign of it. And mom says she refuses to pay another $100 for another camera (she just got this one this summer after the other one died) when the minute she does the old one will show up. So instead she went to Wally's World and bought a cheapy. rats.......

Opal's paw: sometimes after having in IV, there will be some swelling. Only, if it is fluids, the swelling will go down. Opal's front paw kept getting bigger and BIGGER. So mom took her BACK to the v-e-t. She has cellulitis (infection of the skin and underlying tissues). So now she is on a different aunty-biotics. Opal is still running around and being active and eating and everything but man does it look uncomfortable (it is about 3x the size it should be). Mom and Opal saw the same v-e-t from Thursday night/Friday morning and she was very impressed about how much better Opal looked and felt. Just...healthier. :)

~~~~~~~~~~
Tim got whapped....again. He has 3 scratched down his poor nose. (we would show you, but still no sign of the flashy box) Mom suspected that Cleo might have whapped him. He likes to go in the bathroom on the hunt for kitten food and Cleo has been a little more possessive of the kittens since last weekend. Mom heard some name calling and some banging the other night. And about 2 hours later saw the new scratches on Tim. Plus mom saw Cleo take a swing at him last night too. Gotta love a boy who can't be distracted from a possible treat by a ticked off momma cat. :)
Gin and Moonshine are headed back to Petco. There was another adoption. So now there is a bigger kitten (named Toby) and a little kitten (named Belle). Mom put them together on Wednesday but this weekend will be the first chance she has to take Gin and Shine back up there. The goal is to keep the cages separate and hopefully that will help to keep our kitts a little calmer. They have been great at the house and mom knows they will be a great addition to a family out there.
Some comments from the week (we love reading your comments BTW):
Brian (11/5/12): What a day! We are all sending purrs to Grandma and the little Germ kitties.
  This one cracked us up....we know it was a typo, but considering the kitts were sick, it was pretty funny.
Priscilla (11/7/12): What? No rooster sounds?
   Nope - no roosters here....we are very sure the condo association would find that a violation. MOL
We hope you all have a great weekend. No transports and no Sparty football this weekend. Mom said something about the sucky beast and laundry though. And maybe a a few naps. We can get into that last part - it is supposed to be nice here on Caturday so maybe we can bribe her to crack a window for some whiffies.
New experiment.....
If you are living in the path of that hurry-cane, we hope you are all staying dry and safe!!!
Mom has been worried about Allie (the feral mom to the alcohol kittens). We have been leaving food out for her, but mom worries about her when it rains and it is about to get colder up here. But....  we live in a condo association with weird rules. And mom worried about putting a container house out for her to sleep in.  (FYI - we have been doing TNR in the neighborhood and the condo association reluctantly agreed. Mom thinks if we had a bush or somewhere to "hide" a container house for her it might be ok, but everything around our condo is pretty exposed. We have an automatic garage door opener, so mom can leave the door open about 6 inches. Oh....and remember to leave the windows closed in the car - MOL)
 Allie about a week ago
Then mom got to thinking....she puts Allie's food under the a/c unit which is right by the garage. So, would Allie come in the garage to eat and sleep??? So Friday night mom put Allie's food dish in the garage by the door and left the door up about 6 inches.
Saturday am - the food was gone....
And mom realized that she had left the car window open - and Allie must have inspected the car. :)  Since then, mom has actually seen Allie run out when mom has gone into the garage. She will bang on the hood of the car if she doesn't see Allie run out. So, we know that Allie has a safe place to stay a night and during the day when the weather is bad. Yeah!!!  Mom now has a crate turned inside out with towels in it and her food dish on the opposite wall so Allie will be protected from wind and everything between the inside wall of the gargage and the car.
Moonshine came back to the house on Saturday night. He was getting seriously ornery at the Petco. He was growling at mom and she knew if he was acting that way, he wasn't getting adopted. Apparently coming back to the house caused a personality transplant - he has been sweet and outgoing in the past couple of days. Moonshine and Cleo (the momma cat) have been doing some name calling, but Cleo has been name calling with a lot of us, so that is nothing new.
Caturday!!!
First, some business. The rescue that mom works with has a cat named Hugo that needs surgery. If you can help in any way, please check it out here
~~~~~~~~~~~

And we have a feeling a lot of our weekend is gonna look like this:

Moonshine is acting like a "dork" at Petco. So mom moved an adult into one set of cages and moved a kitten named Mystic in with Gin while Moonshine comes back here for some rearrangment of his kitten-tude.
