Random Fridays

**quick note - there is something goofy going on with the web cameras at the moment. Mom hasn't had a chance to mess with them so hopefully she will figure it out this weekend (wish her luck)

Dear Marzen:
you are big enough - time to get neutered

Dear Saporro:
time to head to the adoption center

Dear Kilkenny:
please stop sneezing on people so you can go to the adoption center

Balashi - he is so funny. doesn't mind being held and will PURR,
but he makes you catch him first

Guinness - the kitten with no sense of anyone else's personal space

well huh - no pictures of Peroni. Of course, it is as hard to get a picture of her as it is to get one of Guinness. Both of them want to be VERY_CLOSE to mom when she is in the foster room.

Goldfish has a magic trick: she likes to go into the foster room when mom goes in. Mom of course is either socializing kittens or doing stuff. Goldfish goes in looking for canned food. Anyhow, Monday morning she ran into the room. Mom tried to coax her back out, but of course Goldfish would have to walk BY mom to get out the door - and if mom holds the door open too long, other kittens escape. After a couple of tries, mom gave up and left Goldfish to spend the day with the kittens.

Only....when mom got home Monday night, Goldfish was in the living room sitting on the back of the chair.

Wait a minute....    Yep - she is climbing the screen door to get out. Mom caught her in the act on Wednesday night. Mom isn't really happy about Goldfish climbing the screens. We are going to have to give this some thought. Mom may have to break down and feed us and that kitten some canned food each time she goes into the kitten room. Hey - it's a win/win!!

Random Friday

Junior likes to sleep IN the house
Chanel decided she could do one better and
sleep UNDER the house

Just the girls hanging around
Ivy, Chanel and Daiquiri

Goldfish
skeptical - very very skeptical
Mom has no idea what she is going to do with this girl. She has been able to touch her a couple of times, but she still flinches and run. Oh - and Goldfish has a new hobby....hanging by the door to the foster room and making like she wants to escape. Mom is contemplating putting her in our trap next week and dropping her off to be spayed and making sure she gets an ear tip (and microchip just in case). The thing mom worries about is that Goldfish has now been inside so long that could she really be safely released?? Mom is going to have to talk to the head of the rescue and make some decisions.

Mom has been very grateful for our foster web cams (there are tabs at the top of the website you can click on to see what is happening at any given moment). After last week, she says it has been a huge relief to be able to check in - especially if she can catch all the kittens playing.

Random Fridays

Katie Isabella asked if it is unusual for mom cats to get hissy with kittens. It really depends on the mom cat. We have had it happen a couple of times here. For Cardamom, we suspect since she is fairly young, this might be her first litter and she is just done with the antics. We don't think she would have ever hurt them, but better to move her along for her own peace of mind.

For reasons unbeknownst to mom, the web camera for the fosters doesn't seem to be working on the blog or on our facebook page. She can still see it on her phone, so there must be something else going on. Unfortunately, do to changes at the camera company, their support is spotty at best. Not sure if or when we will get it back up and running. Sorry about that....

Mom took one of the playpens/gates and is using it to block the spice kittens. It has been really nice here the last few days and mom has wanted to leave the windows open. She also likes leaving open the sliding door for a breeze, but the kittens like to climb the screen. It finally occurred to her to block their access to it. She pulled out the smaller playpen and is using it to block the door. The nice part is that 3 panels stick out beyond the foster room wall/door so mom has been using that to block kittens from getting out into the house. They are quick little buggers and rush the door whenever mom comes into the room.
Mom was just going to take a picture using her phone and the web camera until she notice two kittens beating the heck out of each other in the corner. If you look at the sliding door however, you can see the bars and that is the playpen acting as a barrier.
