What a nice weekend

 We had a break in the hot weather here so we got in some good window whiffing. Mom says it is going back to the hots this week for a while but at least we know fall is coming.

Mom got spay surgeries scheduled for the girls. So it it is time to start looking for their forever homes. Biggest thing is no stairs. Neither has the balance. Buttons does fine on regular floors though she does spin out some. Pumpkin would do better with carpet to give her a grip to get around. She still isn't completely walking up on all fours but mom is hoping she will get there. They both eat and use the litter box with no assistance. So if you or someone you know might be interested,  please send them our way. They do not have to go together. 

Mom got the puzzle out this weekend too. But she used a different treat and Boba was unamused. 

Oranges and food puzzles

 The oranges were all spayed and neutered on Friday. Next step adoptions. We did get a couple kittens wrong: Seville is a girl and Cara is a boy so now maybe CC).

Mom broke out the food puzzle again and this time Boba figured out all the doors that were closed (2 of them). 

Chanel was a little more confused by the puzzle. She can get treats out of the open doors then relies in Boba to open the other doors. Which isn't exactly how it's supposed to work but points for figuring it out in her own way.

 First, thanks for your comments about Ivy. It never is easy no matter the circumstances.

Update: Milkshake was adopted! Single guy in an apartment. No doubt Milkshake is loving having his own person.

We've said it before, but Boba is super smart. And has all the opinions. Mom got a food puzzle and it going to see if that will keep her busy. It won't be left out - it will come out from time to time as a "new" toy.

First try was treats with all the doors open. They figured it out pretty quickly. So next step is close one or two doors.

We were asked if we wanted to try a new food puzzle called Pipolino and decided to see what would happen. We received a medium sized one which was larger than mom was expecting. It is heavier than you would think and mom is making this an "only when she is home" toy to avoid someone crashing it down the steps.

Interestingly enough, Chanel was the first to get anything out of it. While we would love to say she outsmarted it, we think it may have been more accidental. She kept trying to stick her head under the puzzle, it would roll out of the way, treats would come out, and repeat.... She did keep trying to stick her paws underneath it as well - not sure what technique that would be.

Mom has since put some regular food in it and while that will never be as interesting as treats, it did keep our attention. All in all, we call it a success.

Obviously this would only work with dry food, but if you have a cat (or dog) that eats really fast, this is a great way to slow them down and keep them busy. Chanel was entertained for quite a while.
