family pictures

what are you staring at over there??

no kittens - over here

so close

look lady - just give it up

The kittens are doing very well together. Mom checked on them the other day and there were 4 out
of 6 kittens stacked up on the penthouse on top of the Kitty Kasas. The decoders are fine with their collars which is nice since it is easier to tell them apart in pictures and even on the web cam.

The vacuum kittens are doing so much better and are seeking attention and love from mom. She thinks that they were mostly jumpy due to Bissell being jumpy. It really does make a huge difference for kittens to have examples showing them that things are OK.

They are having a blast running around the foster room. Sometimes it is absolutely silent and you wonder if there are kittens in there are all, and other times it sounds like there is an army in there.

where did those come from??

Before anyone even asks:
No - they are NOT in with Bissell and her kittens
No  - they will more than likely not meet Bissell and her kittens

Why not?
  1. these kittens are older and on a different vaccination schedule
  2. these kittens have runny eyes and the little ones should not be exposed to that
  3. no one has ANY idea how Bissell would react and mom would never risk these kittens (or herself) to an angry momma cat

Here's the story....mom got a text from our vet tech friend Miss A. A client of theirs had a cat who got pregnant and she needed to find homes for the kittens. She agreed to turn the boys over to us, her sister is taking the one girl, and mom will be spayed.

They are all black (mostly - a little bit of white on the underside of two of them) and all male. They tested negative for FeLV and FIV. They are 7 weeks old today but very small for their ages. Thankfully they are SUPER friendly. Unfortunately they are nearly impossible to tell apart. MOL

Miss A put vet wrap on two of them when they were being tested so she could tell them apart. Since it doesn't stick to the kittens and is stretchy, mom is leaving it on for now.

Mom did put up the play pen as a barrier into the hall and gave them some room to bounce around with her sitting there. Since Bissell is in the foster room, these guys are in the bathroom. As mom sat there, the girls all wandered around. Ivy really doesn't care, Daiquiri and Chanel hissed at them, and Goldfish really wasn't sure what to think.

Names have not been specifically assigned, but we have picked them out. Meet: Cipher, Enigma and Puzzle. AKA the #decoderkittens

Random Fridays

In case you missed the announcement on social media on Tuesday,
this little booger went home with his new mom. Concats Annatto!!!
~~~~~~~~~~~~
places to go, things to do
OK - so it LOOKS like he is coming right toward you
In fact, he was backing away from the camera
killing it with the cute
So....names. This gets harder all the time as mom keeps trying to be creative. However, she wandered around the internets and decided on beer from around the world. Meet the #worldbeerkittens
Mom will be Carling (England)
Our girl kitten will be Peroni (Italy)
Tuxedo boys will be Harp and Kilkenny (Ireland)
Brown tabby boy will be Marzen (Germany)
Orange tabby boys will be Sapporo and Kiri (Japan)
The kittens are all pretty friendly. Marzen is a little shyer than the rest. And Miss Peroni took herself on a tour of the condo the other night when mom opened the door to go into the foster room. Just marched down the hall right past Daiquiri and Chanel - tail straight up in the air all self confident. Mom is going to try to remember to break out the scale this weekend to get some weights. She is curious how much the little girl weighs and the differences between the boys.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Have a safe weekend and be sure to get in an extra nap.

Random Fridays

At the adoption event last Sunday, mom was stopped by a nice young couple. Come to find out, there are Rooney's (now Ragnar) mom and dad. He is doing great and is the baby of the family. His mom says he will follow her around and if she sits down even for a second, he is on her lap on his back with his big bunny feet up in the air. The continue to work with him on a leash and harness. PLUS - his mom has started volunteering every other week at Colony Cats (where Rooney was adopted from).
~~~~~~~~
    Some of you have already seen this - possibly twice. Mom the techno-dork strikes again (though she swears she fixed it....both times).
~~~~~~~~
Since we are sure you didn't get NEARLY enough tuxedo goodness last summer.....we introduce this new family:
Mom cat - she is very skinny but very sweet

5 kittens - 2 black, 3 tuxedo. 3 boys, 2 girls.
(mom didn't write down who was who, so more on that next week)

checking out the new place

They were found under a deck. We don't think the mom cat is very old. Mom picked them up Wednesday when she went to check on the Greek kittens at the adoption center (they are doing fine - but no adoptions yet). She cleaned the foster room and let them loose. The momma cat stretched out and then picked a spot for a nap. The kittens all did their stretchy yoga poses and checked out the entire room. One of the black kittens even purred at mom. YAY!!

However, the momma cat threw up several times Wednesday night. She is super skinny and we suspect that new food and stress just didn't agree with her. Mom gave her a dewormer and hopefully that will help as well. Nothing overnight, so we are hoping the momma cat is back on track and feeling better. The kittens were eating kibble yesterday so at least she isn't their sole source of food. They are super cute and fat and healthy which is good as well.

No names yet....suggestions on a good theme always welcome. (just no people names....not our thing)
    we are thinking another spice group - maybe all "c" names: Cardamom, Caraway, Chicory, Chive, Cilantro, Clove, Coriander

cuties

Considering their ages (which we guess is somewhere around 2 weeks give or take considering one girl still doesn't have her eyes open), these kittens are ridiculously hard to get pictures of at times. They are all over the place....
they are smacking each other in the face (the girls)

they try to get away from each other

they have places to go (Armani)

they are squished up against someone

at least until they fall asleep

Random Fridays

Millicent (probably called Millie) and the kittens are doing well. Mom has to remember to check the web camera before leaving for work since she left in  hurry on Wednesday and then discovered the camera was off. (wish we knew what causes it to work well for a while and then turn off for no reason - the only reset is to turn the router off and on and obviously that only happens if mom is at home)

Even after a couple of days Millie was being a little growly with mom. Not around the kittens - she doesn't seem to mind if mom handles them though she will come over to check things out of mom picks one up and they howl. This is more when mom comes in and is petting her or trying to get her food ready....Millie will rub all over, let mom pet her and then seems to get overstimulated and a little growly. She has put her teeth on mom twice now - not breaking skin and not being aggressive - almost like she isn't sure what else to do. After talking it out with some foster friends, mom is putting rescue remedy in Millie's water and is going to find a toy that she likes to see if getting her to play some will work out the kinks. Certainly nothing to worry about, but mom wants to keep an eye on her behavior all the same.

boy, boy, girl, boy, girl
so far the only one with a definite name is Armani - he is the
tuxie boy with his arm over his sister in this picture

paws up
(this is the smaller orange boy in the top picture)

girl, boy, girl, boy

keep the foods coming lady

the two tuxie girls and their brother

They should be pretty easy to tell apart and mom will try to get good pictures of their faces over the weekend. One orange boy is solid, the other has some white on him (see the picture above). The tuxedo kittens all have different facial markings. It is just a case of getting them to hold still long enough for the camera to focus. MOL

Nothing too exciting this weekend. Mom did buy a new bed that will come next week so she is going to clean the bedroom well and try to catch all the fuzz bunnies under the bed (can't call them dust bunnies since they are mostly fur). Otherwise she will most likely be in the foster room with Millie and the kittens.

not so wordless Wednesday

Back in July mom went to Maine and hooked up with some of her cat lady friends. Miz Robyn from Love and Hisses brought toys that included a packing strap. We know - doesn't sound like a "toy" but kittens love it. Mom found it the other day and finally took it in and the kittens had a blast.
Saldano and Russell

Calvados, Saldano and Russell

Of course, at this age, EVERYTHING is a toy.

playtime

Mom says there is nothing much more fun or a better way to de-stress than for her to go into the foster room and play with the kittens. They sure do know the meaning of fun....and everything is a toy.

Russell - king of the trackball

If you look close, you can see they both have a paw in the game.

Pictures taken when Wheat was still here. She ended up in another foster
home and mom heard over the weekend that she has made it to 2 pounds.
Hopefully her toes will clear up and she can head to her forever home soon.

That incline scratcher is a big hit. Not sure how much longer Saldano is going to be able to fit in the hole however. One of the brandy girls climbs up to the top, digs in her claws and then hangs on the incline.

weekend

We have great news from the weekend:
ADOPTED
Sumac made it out of foster care and was brought the to remote store adoption where mom cleans. Friday night a nice gentleman came in and was talking to the volunteer cleaning that evening. She got Sumac out and it was love. He filled out an application and Sumac went home on Sunday!!!

And one of the adults in the store went home Sunday as well. A very good day indeed.
~~~~~~~~
Dandelion - resting up from all his adventures
Daiquiri has thankfully stopped hissing and growling at him. No idea if she thought she was being replaced as the baby or what her problem was with him, but she is over it. At least until he stole her toy.....
Russell is all: what the what is this??
This is Kirsch.
Mom has no idea why the brandy kittens are getting white hairs,
but it is making the girls easier to tell apart in pictures.
Calvados has more white than either girl, but
Kirsch looks like she stuck her head in a can of paint and has a circle on her face.
Mom broke out the flower collar again. The participants were particularly unwilling to cooperate. MOL
The patriot girls are getting better by the day.
Hopefully they will clear up completely and can be spayed soon.
They do act like they want out of the tower and could certainly
use more space to run around. But mom is afraid they might freak
out and then she would have to catch them again.
random Friday
News: mom got the last two boards to put up on the doors and got them installed on Wednesday after work. THAT should slow down climbing kittens. MOL  And....we got a replacement camera. Mom is going to work on it Saturday afternoon and hopefully we will be back up and running (no promises since it took mom the techno-dork about a week last time). We will let you know....
Poor Marilyn - those kittens just won't leave her alone
(and no, she isn't as sad as she appears - just half asleep)
The nice part of having all of the kittens together is that
Russell and Saldano are about the same size....so when
they decide to beat on each other it is a fair fight.
Dis my momma - get your own.
(and as an aside, mom STILL can't tell the girls apart)
Well...Saldano and Russell are over 2 pounds and are scheduled for surgery on Monday. We always bring our kittens home for a couple of days after surgery so they will go to the adoption center next week sometime. There are a few kittens their size but we still suspect they will go quickly.
          Weights:
Wheat 1 pound 11 3/4 ounces
Saldano. 2 pound 1 1/2 ounces
Russell 1 pound 15 3/8 ounces
Calvados 1 pound 6 3/8 ounces
Kitsch 1 pound 3 1/8 ounces
Chambord 1 pound 3 1/4 ounces
Oh - and a couple of other updates. Mom asked about Dandelion - he wasn't adopted but apparently had gone back into foster to get over a cold and managed to pick up ringworm, so he was in quarantine at the adoption center being treated for that. He is close to being done, so mom is hoping maybe a spot will open up at one of the stores and he can go there. Can you believe those kittens are over 6 months old???
the cute was deadly at that size
And....Sumac went to another foster home for....a cold (it gets around). She apparently has come COMPLETELY out of her shell. She was at one of our remote adoption locations and was doing great. If she goes back there mom will stop by to see her and get a picture.
Otherwise, mom has a transport on Saturday and then plans to yell at the TV some in the afternoon. Fall is mostly here....it gets chilly at night and we are all loving it. Open windows and everything. Have a safe and wonderful weekend.....
kitten update
Once again, sorry for the bad pictures....mom called the computer guys and is HOPING to get the laptop back today. To say she is not happy with their customer service would be an understatement!
~~~~~~~~~
All three kittens are still doing laps around the house. Mom took them to the adoption center on Saturday to get microchipped and Lyon was snotty. sigh....  He is back at the house and mom has made him swear he won't sneeze on his sisters.
No thanks - don't wanna be stabbed

Mom has been keeping on eye on Avignon and she looks pretty good....not much coming out of the abscess so we are hoping that is a good sign. As of right now she is back on the surgery schedule for next Monday.

Calais is definitely the friendliest of the kittens. She will sometimes sleep off on her own or with a sibling, but she is more often than not curled up on the mom. Lyon will come over and look for attention too. And climb up when he wants. Avignon is NOT HAVING IT!! Mom can grab her and love on her, but the second there is a chance for escape, that girl is g.o.n.e.

Calais is being adopted by Miss Dee is CT where she will have 2 older kitty brothers (we hope they have been sufficiently warned). Mom begged a favor from her fellow bloodhound drivers and they are going to help transport Calais to her forever home this coming Saturday.
