Happy spring

At least we think it has finally arrived. Hope so since mom planted flowers on the balcony.

The kittens were petty fascinated with mom being outside for a while.

The salads will be 2 months old on the 15th and the rescue is working on getting them all on the surgery schedule.  Then it is off to be adopted.

We have also been babysitting for the shelter. A foster went on vacation and 3 of the kittens she had weren't big enough for surgery. They go back on Thursday and have been in the playpen and then allowed done freedom the last few days. Buzz, Woody and BoPeep

weekend report

With open windows and nice weather, this is how most of us spent the weekend. Mom ran some errands but otherwise a quiet two days.

Two years after having a swarm of bees (and not the good kind) on the balcony, mom braved up and decided to put flowers back out on the balcony.
Mom doesn't have much of a green thumb, but she has found a few plants that do well in containers on our balcony (that doesn't get much sun) and she can't really kill. The round planter has sweet mint, the square planter has geraniums. She then put impatiens in the long planters.

With the slider open but the screen door closed, Millie got to supervise.

should hopefully be pretty when the plants get a little bigger

Mo's big adventure

Last week we had a big bug in the house. Mom couldn't manage to smack it and says we are pretty hopeless when it comes to bug catching.

She had read somewhere that if you open a door or window and turn off the inside lights and turn on an outside light, the bug will go out. Must have worked cause we haven't seen the bug since. After a while mom turned off the light and shut the door.

However, mom got up the next morning and there was no sign of Mozart. She fed everyone, shook the treat container.....nothing. But she had to go to work. No open windows or doors...he wasn't under the bed or anywhere she could check quickly.
Mom worried all day. What if he was sick? What if he was stuck somewhere? What if, what if?

Finally she got out of work (it was Friday so thankfully early). She came home, ran upstairs....and there was Mo - standing outside on the balcony.
In all fairness to mom, she did look out there before going to work. He must have been behind one of the plants when she looked outside. Fortunately, he was fine....though kind of clingy for a while.

weekend report

Mom was gone most of Caturday. The rescue had a sidewalk sale at the vet office. They set up household stuff and pet stuff. After some long hours and lots of people (and a little sun...mom's face is a bit red), they raised $450.00.  Pretty good for hanging out in a parking lot for a few hours. :)  Thanks to the volunteers who staffed it, the vets who let us use their parking lot and those who came out to shop.

Spud spent his Sunday snoozing.... this is his favorite spot. Not because it is on top of the food container (which is where he snoozes) but because he is up and can see out into the hallway. :)

This tree is blooming just outside our balcony. Mom is going to replant that evergreen into the bigger pot...maybe next weekend when it warms up a little more. Then she has to decide what else to plant. She is thinking geraniums in the bigger pots. And then....no idea. She is thinking maybe a couple of varieties of mint in one of the boxes (not that she has ANY idea what she is doing).

Jade is spending a little more time outside the sleeping box. There is limited space in the bathroom but the box is getting a little small for everyone....mom is going to look for a little bigger box to try to keep the kittens contained a little longer.
