When the crew here had to be retested last spring, we got the "quantity" discount (the vet thought it was funny - mom not so much though she appreciated the discount) and it was $35 per cat.

If it is just your cats in a closed community, then we don't think it is necessary. Shelter cats are tested: FeLV is contagious in common areas. FIV is harder to catch, but the test can be done at the same time so most do. Connie is right - for adoption purposes, it is pretty necessary.Random Felineshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02591546634183113556noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5048142180280267442.post-3261275624779018332012-09-20T12:58:26.654-04:002012-09-20T12:58:26.654-04:00One word why we can't have an FIV+ cat here: B...One word why we can't have an FIV+ cat here: Binga! :-( Otto sounds very cool.

P.S. two school...Re: how important is Felv/Fiv testing.

two schools of thought. A) it is kind of expensive. I have no idea how much the base cost of it is, but to get a vet to do it is probably minimum $50. for a shelter that is tight on money that is money that is better spent on food.

But B) knowledge is power. If you adopt out an fiv or felv positive cat with out disclosing it, you quite often get a very upset public. is it worth the risk to your reputation? *shrug*

I personally think it is better to know because a + cat can be kept indoors, keep stress to a minimum and discussions can be had about nutrition etc. Connie - Tails from the Foster Kittenshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01127077337743262149noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5048142180280267442.post-45465436629841215042012-09-20T11:46:30.504-04:002012-09-20T11:46:30.504-04:00talk about the universe trying to talk to someone ...talk about the universe trying to talk to someone about Miney

It was an honor to have you as the inaugural interviewee. thank you so much!!Connie - Tails from the Foster Kittenshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01127077337743262149noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5048142180280267442.post-24749898265602129622012-09-20T11:09:36.902-04:002012-09-20T11:09:36.902-04:00That is so great that Miney got to be cat of the d...That is so great that Miney got to be cat of the day.
