Birthday/Gotcha Days.....

Today is Mom's....BIRTHDAY!!!! She said we aren't allowed to say how very old she is, but we are sorta cheating and will say it ends in a zero. MOL

And, it is Junior's Gotcha Day! Hard to believe he has been here "officially" for 2 years. He was here before then, but mom made it official after he had been here a few months. You can read one of our favorite stories about Junior right after he moved in by clicking here.

Mom says she still is hoping that some day he will learn to trust her enough that she can love on him some.....it doesn't help that she can't just sit and have the house be quiet and try to bribe him to like here. There is so much going on around here. But she loves watching him and seeing him get a little braver every day.

Mom does say that she is looking today at her life too. She does wish some things were different in her life. She wishes she was doing something she loved rather than dragging through the day at work so she can do what she wants the rest of the time. But, while she may not be exactly where she wants, we love her very much and know she is making a difference with the animals and rescues.  LOVE YOU MOM!!!

  4. Happy birthday to your mom! She's 30, right? :-)

And happy Gotcha Day to Junior!

Our human thinks that most humans ponder their lives, especially as they get older, and realize they're not where they want to be. But in your mom's case, she is making such a huge difference in the lives of not only so many four-legged Beings, but also of so many humans. That's truly wonderful, and we hope she realizes how important her contribution is to many.

  5. I understand exactly how your mom feels about wanting to do something she loved rather than working at something horrid. I don't want to calculate how many years I've spent doing things I dislike. At least I get to come home to my cats.

Happy birthday to your mom, and happy anniversary to Junior!

  18. Happy Burrrthday, Random Mom. We hope you have a great day, full of kittie cuddles and a night on the town. (or at least, a little wine)

And a Happy Gotcha Day to Junior. We understand about being skittish. We're all adopted strays, and a couple of us still jump and run if Dad moved too quick in our direction.

  24. (formerly commenting as Janet Blue) What a great post. We loved reading about Junior when he was just a little kit. The napping photo of him is adorable. Wish he could warm up to you more. Happy Gotcha Day Junior. Tell your mom, it took our mom 63 years to finally get the opportunity to do just what she wants. She's at least doing what she wants part of the time. 33. We are sorry we missed your Mom's birthday! Teri said just think of it as our little way for her to stay a year younger, hahameow!

Teri likes her job, but wishes she could just do it 3 days a week and have the rest of the time to blog and snuggle with us!

Nothing is perfect, and your mom is 'Being the Change' and helping so many kitties...she is a special lady!

  34. Happy belated birthday to your Mama! Happy belated gotcha day Junior! Tell your Mama that on the days when she feels her job is not what she ideally would want it to be, she is still one of the lucky ones in life. She has found a way to make a difference in the world, to look beyond her own needs and to extend herself to a worthy cause. That form of selflessness not only feeds the soul, it makes an immeasurable difference to all the animals she helps as well as to the many , many people who are directly and indirectly touched by her hard work and efforts. That is a GREAT place to find oneself , no matter how many decades are in your age :)Now go forth and celebrate!Spoil yourself in some small (or big) way. We celebrate our birthday over a week period in these parts!

    love,

Sophie(aka LP) and the critters in the cottage xo
