Thankful Thursday.....

Mom just read an article online about a ruling that will allow low cost spay/neuter clinics in Alabama to stay open. If any of you read the blog love-and-hisses you will know she fosters down there and has been a HUGE advocate for keeping these clinics open. So, 28 residential paws up for a ruling that finally makes some sense......

We are lucky that we live close enough to a large city that we have access to great vets and great clinics. Mom's favorite is SOS of Ohio. The prices are right and she can take ferals in a live trap same day.

So, please support your local clinics.....pet population control is so very important.

  1. We only have one low cost spay/neuter clinic that is at least an hour away. So I bring the strays I catch to private clinics who offer a rescue rate. It's not very cheap, but it helps. :)
Good news about the Alabama ruling!

  4. Living in a very rural area it's crazy finding a vet let alone a clinic. When we had Harry fixed it cost $150! Obviously we are not going back to that vet. Oh, and he was an hour and half away. But they have to be fixed - that is a rule!

  11. I am SO glad that these clinics were saved - what is wrong with humans to even think of doing something to put them out of business?! Out here in L.A., we have Fixnation, which is an awesome organization that my human supports.

  15. I think there is one low cost in Ottawa, Ontario. It is clearly a much needed service in North America!

  16. Mama is getting ready to trap the ferals in the neighborhood and take them to be neutered and spayed. She is new to this so give her some moral support hehehe.

  17. What a cutie Bourbon is!

We supposedly have a low cost spay/neuter program. I don't know what they consider low though as it cost me close to $400 for the surgery/shots and other sundries per cat. I don't know how low income families can manage. It might explain why there are so many cats/dogs at the local Humane Society.
