RIP Amaretto

We had hoped for a better outcome, but we knew this was possible from the time we saw the abscess on her neck. Miss DeLynn went over yesterday at lunch to feed her and found that she had run for the Bridge. Mom has a major case of the sads so we are going to take care of her for a couple of days. Thank you so much for all your purrs and woofs and prayers.

The v-e-t called with the lab results. It would appear to be a variation of strep and other not-uncommon bacteria. So it isn't like she caught something weird....she caught something common and her little body just couldn't fight it off. Mom will keep a close eye on everyone else, but it doesn't seem right now like this is something that is likely to affect them.

  1. We are so sorry that Little Amaretto had to run off to the bridge. :(
You did everything you possibly could but her little body wasn't strong enough to fight off the bacteria. She was loved right to the end and that matters a lot.

  11. Poor little baby girl. We're so sorry she passed. We know your mom (and the vet) did everything possible. That's the problem with "Highest Good" -- it's not always what you *want* to happen.

Our mom's eyes are leaky too.

Godspeed, Amaretto. Be free and be whole and healthy.

  24. as hard as this news is to hear, and I feel for you deeply, I still find this so interesting.

I find it especially curious that two out of the litter having such health challenges... but it happens. I had one die when it went to be neutered and his brother died of a heart attack a few weeks later after being adopted. It so stinks that some kittens are just not designed to make it..

Wishing the rest of the kittens the best, continued good health and wonderful loving homes.

  40. I am very behind on blog reading. I am so very sorry for your loss of Amaretto. My deepest condolences.

I know it doesn't make the loss any easier, but your love and care gave Amaretto a fighting chance that she most likely wouldn't have had without you. Thank you for all you did for her.

Again, I am so sorry. Run free and chase all kinds of mice in tall grass, little Amaretto.
